[Well she's not going to throw up this time, so maybe knowing its only a couple hours helps. (Fort 16) She still looks a little green and clammy though. And she is fiddling with her phone because claustrophobia makes her stressed and she wants to talk to someone who already knows this. But she doesn't. So enjoy Lila right now, folks. She ain't happy.

Luckily they are going to Paris. So she can buy a crate of her fancy ass French cigarettes and ship them home. Small miracles.]

[Faye is normally pretty in tune with Lila's moods, but apparently she's distracted by the trip to France (wis 7). She's already camped out in the seat next to her, also playing on her phone- because they are two teenagers and have terrible attention spans.]

So how's Harry? [No, she totally still buys it but she emphasizes it instead of using his princely title. She is so slick, you don't even know.]

He's an uncle now, so that's cute. [Her reply is distracted, but she still is all up on her pop culture (knowledge 14) which isn't hard considering they live in England and not under a rock.] Godfather too.

[The humor -- her fictional boyfriend is a godfather and she is a mafia princess -- is not lost on her.]

Kids. Great. [No Faye gives a total of zero fucks about that.] But will you get to see him again? You should ask him to come meet us in Paris.

[Us. She wants to meet this prince, damnit.]

He's busy. [She doesn't even look up from the phone. Faye is clearly never going meet Prince Harry since Lila would actually have to date him for that. Whoops. Luckily she keeps rolling high for pop culture so she has an excuse at the ready. (knowledge 18)] He got promoted, some weird British military thing, I wasn't actually paying attention. I think he can kill people for fun now. [Shrug.]

Oh. [She sounds mildly disappointed but gets over it quickly.]

Have you ever been to France? I mean- that you remember?

Yeah. I don't remember it, but I remember talking about it. We went to the Riviera though, me and my dad. So it might have been Monaco...

I've never been. [Somehow, even if she could remember her life, she doesn't think this would be a memory of hers.]

I'm still not sure how we're going to find out who or what is after this councilwoman or whatever.

Use her as bait, maybe. Stage a speech, wait for whatever to make himself known. [She shrugs, she doubts that is a plan anyone is going to get behind. Lila's not even behind it 100%.] Won't Christos and Anastacia do the planning?

[ a steady hand drops onto lila's shoulder as emma moves about the cabin. ]

How are you holding up?

I'm fine. [She really hopes Emma is asking because she looks like an ill cat and not because she thinks Lila is some fragile emotional flower now. But the answer would be the same.]

[Taking a sip of her sprite, she looks up from her phone.] I don't like flying. [Half true -- it isn't the flying aspect that bothers her, its the inabilty to escape. She'd do fine with sky diving because she would have a way out.]

I don't think you're alone in that among the knights. Plenty of 'em come from places that never had planes. It's a wonder Wynn relies on jets so much to begin with.

Because you are literally 5000% more likely to die in a car crash than a plane crash? [That isn't even an exaggeration.] It's faster, it's cheaper, it's a hell of a lot more economical. The guy probably has more frequent flyer miles than most pilots.

[And no one wants Lila on a boat sailing from England to America. Someone would die. Now imagine her in the Chunnel.

Death.

She'll take the plane over that.]

More economical for seven people to get to France? I don't think so.

Do you really think the Knights don't have major stock in airlines all over the world? If Wynn doesn't have the Karthur Institute incorporated so he can write these trips off as tax deductable then he's a moron. Sweetie, we get paid salary, we get health benefits and I'm sure if it wasn't a not-for-profit we'd actually have to pay taxes. [Her tone gets a touch patronizing at the end, but she can't help it. She is the child of organized crime... this is exactly what she was going to be doing when she took over for her dad. (Knowledge: business 21)] Hell, Wynn probably has a hundred or so shell companies just for stuff like this.

I didn't realize you had such insight into business.

I was going to take over for my dad.

So, he started you on business that early. [ well. crime bosses didn't exactly life long, healthy lives that often. those were the lucky ones, the really good ones. a little insurance was a good plan - except in this case, it meant depriving lila of a few other things. ] Is your dad here? In this world.

[bittersweeter]

Huh? No, no, he's still back home. [Not that she would really know since she doesn't know his name. For all she knows Daddy Zacharov could be making a killing in Monte Carlo or Las Vegas. He could be dead, though she doubts that.]

Where was home for you? Was it like this world, or something else?

[bittersweeter]

Manhattan. New York. It was pretty much the same except people like me, we, you know, existed. And not in some secret underground -- everyone knows about workers. Don't like us, but we've been around since the dawn of humanity.

You mean even moreso than the people in this world all knowing about magic? [ because where she's from it's like super closet compared to your world then gurl. ]
