[ OH MY GOD BOTH OF YOU GO HOME. emma is rolling her eyes so hard right now. ]

Believe it or not, I've been dressing myself for twenty-some years. [ THESE ARE THINGS WOMEN LEARN. and she knows them. and sometimes, she works them. but most of the time it's just not a priority. that doesn't stop her from grabbing a pair from one of the racks and looking it over, because ok a part of her enjoys the girly parts of life, but they're ... rare, in her life. because it's impractical almost always. ]

Would you like an award? [Faye calls out over her shoulder while she moves to find a place to sit and try on the pair she's chosen. Slipping them on, she flexes her ankle to decide how she feels about them now that they're on her.]

[bittersweeter]

They probably have a shop for that. [She picks at another couple pairs, aimlessly looking around. This is weird. Like something people do with their moms.

Lila doesn't remember hers, but she's 9000% sure her dad didn't do this with her.]

How about we don't find out. [ she takes a seat on a bench and slips out of her own shoes, trying on the heel to consider it. if it were anyone but lila in her company with faye, she'd probably point out that when you go through enough shit, fashion becomes the sort of thing you worry about when you have time with it and less of a focal point. but lila gets that, and chances are, the kid's just indulging while she's getting the chance. ]

[Faye can't remember her mother, but that's probably for the best, since the woman was in a near catatonic state for most of Faye's life. And with her father dead, parental influence isn't something that Faye had in spades in her former life.

Which might be why Faye doesn't even register that this might be something a parent would do with their child. She stands and walks a few steps to get a feel for the shoes she's chosen, moving towards a nearby mirror to look them over.]

Well? [Opinions from the peanut gallery will now be taken.]

[bittersweeter]

Meh, they're okay. [Lila isn't actually that ambivalent, she just has nothing constructive to say about them because they're obviously cute and flatter Faye. She isn't going to state the obvious.] The red's cute.

They look good.

[ there's an evident and unspoken 'but,' but it's just emma's personal taste. as evidenced by her earlier remark towards lila's, she just doesn't like strappy. for one, it's a good way to break your ankle if you have to run in them, and for another, they're harder to kick off - or, impossible. ]

[Satisfied with both of their painfully underwhelmed reactions, Faye boxes the shoes back up and keeps them with her things to purchase. Her next stop is boots because it'll be getting colder an shell be damned if she sacrifices appearance because of cold toes.]

Think we can get away with clothes and jewelry to match? [She muses and she continues] Business expenses?

[bittersweeter]

Well we are meeting a councilwoman. We can't go in there looking like teenage Americans. [So yes, Lila votes yes we can.]

If you're trying to bait me into being responsible and stopping you, it's not going to happen.

[ so stop worrying that she's going to buzzkill. because emma likes pretty things, even if they mostly just decorate her closet. it's probably a good point though - they should dress fairly well if they're meeting the councilwoman. maybe not pumps and a minidress, but heels have the advantage of going well with just about anything when they're close-toed. ]

[While Emma's not looking, Faye turns to Lila and raises an eyebrow in amusement. She wasn't expecting Emma to be cool about it. Score.

But before she's done here, Faye heads over to the boots and examines a pair that she quickly decides she also needs. Fall is coming quickly, okay. These will be awesome.]

So outfits next?

[bittersweeter]

[Lila flashes Faye a grin in return, shrugging. Surprises abound this day. She grabs another box, bringing her stack to four because she has a problem and her problem is shoes. When you are five feet tall and minature, five inch heels are a requisite to being taken in any way seriously.]

And then jewelry? There's a Cartier a couple doors down -- I need a new watch. [A beat.] And Faye still owes me a bracelet.

All right, before this gets out of hand: can we at least agree that everyone should keep their collective price tag under a thousand bucks? [ because she's noticed the lack of advertised price on these shoes and cartier screams expensive so she's ... giving them wiggle room here ok she's trying to be generous about her limiting. ]

[She rolls her eyes at Lila mentioning the bracelet, but there's a hint of a smile there. That was a bet she was okay with losing, because it meant having someone around who didn't make her want to bash her head against a wall all of the time.]

Yeah, sure. [Faye says dismissively to Emma as she heads to the cash register. (bluff 17, she's not even really trying).]

[bittersweeter]

Okay Mom. [Lila makes a face, but she doesn't seem too put out by Emma's restrictions. Though she does put a pair of boots back.] You know, this does count as a business expenditure -- this stuff is tax deductable.

[And let's be real, the earrings Lila wears on the daily are over $600... she has ingrained expensive tastes. But she is following Faye to the counter.] And no one can say a scarf isn't a necessity for me. So, when we pop into Hermes... anything goes.

Just keep it reasonable.

[ she is not remotely fooled by faye, her sense motive is a 26. but she does bring her heels and a pair of maroon platformed pumps to the counter. she's got enough boots at this point that she doesn't need to add them to her closet, but it's physically painful to resist being that girl who just buys the same exact types of clothes and having 6 different permutations on the same jacket because it comes naturally to emma swan, who has 4 different red leather jackets. ]

[After checking out, Faye lets the bags hang from one arm, feeling so much better after purchasing such great shoes. This makes up for everything shitty about her last mission.]

Where to next, ladies? [It's a half question. She just wants a new dress... yesterday. And ending the day on some bling sounds pretty awesome.]

There is an Agnes B. a couple stores down. [How does she know this, as she hands over her credit card? A. because she asked the clerk in rapid fire French, y'all be jealous (knowledge: local 16) and b. because I remember from when I went there and Agnes B. was all my cheap ass could afford, so YOU'RE WELCOME SHE PICKED THE LOW END OF THE PRICE SCALE, EMMA. Now be proud of her so she can have feels.

She yammers something else in French and the clerk responds in kind, snickering appreciatively.] And Etam is right next door.

[That's lingerie.]

What the hell do you need lingerie for?

[ knowledge (fashion): 14. yeah, she knows what etam is. ]

So many reasons, really. Chiefly that when I do wear underwear, I like it to be pretty. Also, I enjoy pretty things and it makes me feel pretty. The fact that my boyfriend will probably enjoy it? Bonus.

[Faye gives Lila a little look- eyebrows up and suppressing a smile.]

Lila found herself a real prince charming. [It's not even a lie as far as Faye is concerned.]

That's right. You still haven't told me this guy's name. If you're calling him your boyfriend, shouldn't that be something you're willing to share?

[gdi Emma.] Jack. His name is Jack Morgan. [She glances over at Faye with a shrug. She is a liar, she lies, what do people expect from her?] Get it? Captain Morgan?

[Faye just sort of halts. For a half second, she's mad, but at least she doesn't have to feel like she has lost her touch. If anyone was going to snag a prince, it was damn well going to be her.]
