If he's really stooped to trying to take a life, he deserves to face justice for it - in his right mind, so that he can recognize the error of his ways.

[He's stooping to murder to get a point across, Lila's not sure that's something you recognize the errors in. Or rather, she personally thinks all that is recognized while plotting. No one premeditates a murder (twice!) thinking that its okay. But, she is not the one in charge, and frankly, if she were them she wouldn't have let Lila do it either.

Which sucks.

So she shrugs like whatever, petulant teenager over here. Plot your justice without me.]

[ emma's actually kind of with lila in that she doesn't expect this guy to realize anything. he knows what he's doing, it's pre-meditated. but she does want him to face justice so that he can pay in a just way, not with his life. so she'll just agree with ana to make that easier. ]

[silvermaid]

[ taenya shakes her head, pacing with growing simmering anger.

"Whatever you're going to do, you'll need to do it fast. He's tried twice - nothing's going to stop him from going for a third if he doesn't face consequences for the attempt." ]

[bittersweeter]

[Lila finally stands up, tucking her phone into her pocket and very calmly smoothing down her skirt.]

I assure you, he will not be trying again. [Delicately, she unweaves her silky scarf from around her neck, just in case her push for death or insanity wasn't enough to show Taenya she is one with whom not to be fucked...] People who cross me don't get second chances.

[It's meant to be reassuring, but there is a slight edge to it. She's probably doing it wrong. (Diplomacy 32 or intimdation 28?) In any case, she is very serious. That was this bitch's last chance.]

We'll take care of it. Just stay scarce, and only take - well, anything - from the people you trust.

[silvermaid]

We'll keep one of our men stationed nearby. [ how about one of those knights who got written out of this adventure, yes that will do nicely ] And we'll be in touch. [ annnd anastacia holds the door open for the other ladies ]

[Lila petulantly walks out -- which she can't really help, she just happens to be a teenager in a mood, that's how they roll -- crossing her arms uncomfortably. She's not sure upsetting the elf and then almost dying and then promoting death via insanity is going to look real nice on a report to Eric. It doesn't scream well rounded.]

[ as they head out to the car, anastacia looks preoccupied with worry ] I hope Christos found some kind of evidence to help us tie this to the Mayor. I think your plan is our best chance of solving this smoothly, Emma.

[bittersweeter]

Won't we need something slightly more concrete? If the cup is it, he could get off scot free, since his homicidal compatriot seems to be doing the heavy lifting. Conspiracy is hard as hell to prove.

[uncurse]

He doesn't need to know it's all that we have, or what we got from it. All we need is for him to believe we could put him away and ruin him with it - and, honestly, court might not do much, but the media would eat him alive if he were even implicated - and he'll cave.

[silvermaid]

And as much as I'd like to see him behind bars, maybe scaring him straight will buy him the chance to rethink his actions. A second chance at doing things right.

[bittersweeter]

[It takes so much effort to not roll her eyes, but wow she actually succeeds. She also yanks her cigarettes out of her pocket and fumbles with her lighter. Yay coping mechanism.] Or he'll get a book deal and make so much money he can buy his way back into power.

[uncurse]

Well, we won't know until we try. So you can either get on board, or get out of the way, because right now, this is the plan we're trying. [ emma is 1000% done with input now that it's decided because like hell is she opening the floor back up to 'hey i'll use my tactile mind powers to drive him crazy.' she's not using a kid like a weapon. she may seem harsh towards lila now, but it's in the interest of protecting her from that. and apparently it comes off incredibly harsh and alienating, because that was a crit fail diplomacy check. ]

[bittersweeter]

[Lila looks like she's been slapped, coming to a dead stop. She hadn't even been that opposed to the plan, it seemed to be one of those harmless test plans. She's just so used to poking holes in plans made by other people (read: Cassel) so they can be properly filled in, that she couldn't help doing the same here.

She's used to people being dismissive because her age or mean because of her past, she's a teenager bad person, there isn't much of a way around it. She just doesn't expect to be so completely dismissed by Emma, of all people.

Regaining a semblance of composure, her mouth presses into a thin line.] Fine. [She glances at Anastacia with the same blank look in her eyes, shuttered.] I'll get a taxi, if it's all the same.

[silvermaid]

Emma. [ it's more disbelief at the abrasiveness of her delivery than chastisement but it still carries with it a tone of disapproval. still, she moves to try to diffuse the tension (diplomacy 42). ] I can understand why Lila's frustrated with the idea: it hardly seems adequate justice for an attempted murderer and a bigot. She clearly recognizes why it's the first step we have to take, however, so there's no need for anyone to draw lines in the sand. We're a team, we need to face this as one.

[uncurse]

[ the look on emma's face falls well before anastacia hammers it in. she sees the damage she's done in the way lila closes off - she can read it because emma's spent far too much of her life doing the same thing. allowed herself to get optimistic about someone, only to be proven wrong. she grimaces. ]

Lila, wait. I didn't mean - That didn't come out right.

[bittersweeter]

It's fine. [Its not, obviously, but Anastasia had easily swayed her into not peacing out. Being happy about it just isn't going to happen. This is exactly why she doesn't open up to people. She smiles, all teeth and pink cheeks, but there isn't any effort in actually looking like she's not upset as she starts walking again.] Faster we nail this bastard, the less time we need to be a team.

[silvermaid]

[ anastacia watches her go with evident concern, but doesn't say anything else, letting her go. she does, however, exchange a look with emma that conveys a sense of sympathy. everyone makes mistakes, and it's clear that she recognizes what she said crossed the line. she gently reaches out to squeeze the woman's shoulder before following after lila to the car. which they can take back to the hotel where christos is furiously being CSI-chan. ]
