The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

It shows good morale to be here for the new squires. I just ... don't really get along with people.

I guess that makes more sense. I used to have to go to parties just for show too.

Were you in politics?

My family was. I think.

[generaldavideus]

You don't remember?

[lastdragomir]

Not my family, they died when I was young. [She remembers that she is Moroi royalty, but she isn't going to bring that up since her conversation with Fred Jr went decidedly off course.] But I did attend a lot of parties and dinners on their behalf.

I'm sorry. About your family, I mean.

[he pauses.]

And about the parties, if those aren't really your thing.

Thank you. [And she means it. She doesn't remember her family enough to feel like she is missing anything, something she is fairly certain the Veil didn't take from her either, but the condolences are kind.] I think parties were my thing though. At least, with people my age.

[You know, David, teenager parties, you must have gone to... One. At least. Because you were confused and thought it wasn't a party.]

[He's heard of such a beast, but he doesn't really remember much of his life before Everworld, beyond the fact that it was there.]

[Snicker.] I think I might need proof of that before I believe you.

[His eyebrows climb a bit.]

And what kind of proof would that be?

I don't know, looking like you're actually enjoying yourself might be a start. A smile, maybe?

[He pauses, considering that for a moment.


Then he ... tries smiling. It's really ineffective. It's actually kind of terrifying (intimidate nat. 20). No one should ever let him near people ever Lissa, why would you ask this of him.]

[OMG DAVID. Lissa's will save is pretty damn high (26) but OMG STOP. Her eyes widen and she pales a bit. It's only the fact that she asked him to do it that stops her from whimpering.]

Or not. No smiling.

[He stops smiling, a small laugh coming at her reaction before shrugging.]

I thought so.

How do you do that?

Practice. Where I was before, a lot of it was me being intimidating.

It's impressive. I mean, terrifying, really, but impressive. I... Don't think I could manage that.

I think it depends on how terrifying you're committed to being.

[he shrugs.]

I used to run with vikings. Being terrifying with them is pretty much a state of mind. One minute you're staring down an enemy on the battle field, the next you're embracing your friends and singing along with the minstrels ...

[a beat]

I never really managed the second part.

Vikings? Weren't they... [How to delicately ask if he's actually like a thousand years old.] Slightly ancient?

[He smiles a bit at that. The non creepy version.]

Where I was, they never went out of style.
