The mission to intercept a shipment heading to Andres - one among many such mysterious deliveries that Wynn suspects have some sinister ties to the movements of Prime Minister Dimitris Sarandis' involvement in a Shadowkind slaver cult - is already off to an interesting start.  No sooner have the crew gotten aboard Thoster's pirate ship and headed out on a course that's meant to intercept the vessel then the winds start kicking up and dark thunderheads roll in on the horizon.  Lightning streaks the horizon as rain starts to fall, and Thomas stands on the deck, looking out with one foot up on the railing, frowning out. 

"Gonna be rough waters.  Not sure yet if that's going to work to our advantage or not."

[ on the deck of the other boat, the men do notice them coming... and start scrambling for weapons, because the boat doesn't really have any mounted. the side of thoster's boat crashes against theirs pretty hard, doing damage to both vessels. everyone has to make a balance check (DC 13) or fall over. ]

[Thoster is... not doing so well (Balance 7). He loses grip of the wheel and falls to the ground at the impact.]

Shit. Drop the anchor! [He calls out to David or Brantley or whoever can fucking do it. He'll take some time to get to his feet now, thanks.] Time to show 'em what we're made of!

[David is steady on his feet (balance 24) - all those years of traveling in longboats doing him some good after all. Then he heads back to Thoster, offering him a hand to help him up.]

Let's go.

[Andie gets up gracefully (balance 23) as soon as they've made contact. Then she ducks and weaves, moving fast enough and subtly enough to remain as hidden as possible (move silently 15, hide 15) as she zips over to the other ship. She hurls herself gracefully over onto the other deck (jump 20) then runs for cover (move silently 21, hide 19).]

[ andie moves too quickly for anyone to notice, and finds shelter behind some barrels on the deck. everyone is going to have to roll for init though, so incoming combat plurk! ]

[It seems sea is really Brantley's friend. The crash is pretty rough, but Brantley manages to keep standing, almost tripping but still on his feet, pretty good for a guy like him (balance 13). After the crash, he tries to carry out the captain's order. He isn't really sure how to anchor but luckily it isn't as hard as hacking a computer so somehow he succeeds to carry out the command(wis 16). He then regroups with his mates and prepares to board the other ship.] Lead the way.

[Thoster isn't really all that concerned with hiding, so he just nods to Brantley, glances at David and grins wickedly before moving quickly to jump to the enemy ship (jump 21).

And like any good bard, he prepares for battle by... singing! Any ally within earshot of Thoster can now hear inspiring song of courage! Please enjoy your +1 to attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws against fear. This lasts for as long as he's singing and for five rounds after he stops (so don't forget to add those bonuses in, dudes!)]

[ the toughs will now all be color coordinated, here we go. sailor c wears a cerulean blue puffy coat, and hoists a handgun, speaking with a ridiculous cockney accent. ]

Oi! Move it, ye filthy pirates! [ he fires a 'warning shot' in thoster's general direction (atk 10). sailor e wears an eggplant colored coat, and is having a helluva time in the rain up here, pulling his hood down so low, that it's hard to tell who he was even aiming at (atk 5), as the bullet goes wild. ]

[Meanwhile, Andie peers out looking for a way to get below decks, or alternatively, something that looks cargo-y (spot 14).]

[ well, there are all those barrels she is hiding behind... and also a door that might lead down to the cargo hold. more shots are fired at thoster (5 & 14 atks). alas, the second one strikes for 8 damage. ]

[Brantley prepares to board the other ship. He steadies his stance and starts to run toward the other ship. At the edge, he tries to leap with all his might, but the storm makes the ship a little bit too slippery, so instead of leaping, he trips himself and is on his way to take a dive.(jump 7)]

[ the other sailor has a taser, however, and he tries to jab thoster with it, but the boat pitches on their side as well with the same wave that knocks brantley near off the ship (atk 5) ]

[Never fear, David is here! He brought up the rear on the party and when he saw Brantley start to miss his mark, his hand was there to make sure he didn't go over the side (reflex save 19). He grabs hold, using his position of leverage to pull him back onto the boat (strength 20 total).]

[No don't worry. It's cool guys. HE WILL JUST HANDLE ALL FIVE BY HIMSELF.

The second he's shot, Thoster's song dies from his lips to be replaced with a string of curses. He reaches for his morningstar and grits his teeth, going for the nearest sailor (which happens to be that asshole with the taser... attack 18, dmg 4)]

[ thoster's morningstar strikes the man on the side of the head and he grunts, as his two friends turn their guns towards david and brantley.

the blue coated sailor shoots at brantley, the bullet narrowly whizzing by his ear (atk 11), as the eggplant-wearing sailor gets a crack shot at david (atk 21, 16 dmg) ]

[Andie makes a dash for that door (move silently 30, hide 13 if anyone's even making spot checks). Since the door is locked, she grabs her lock picks and starts to work (open lock 16).]

[ the door opens! unfortunately one of the sailors notices andie and takes a shot at her (atk 17) while another takes another useless crack at the boys on the other ship (atk 9) ]

[Just after recovering, David is shot by one of the sailor. Seeing his mate gets hurt, he realizes it's not the time to play around. He gathers his strength and leaps with all his might. This time he lands gracefully on the other side without fail(jump nat 20).Then he gives the sailor who shot David a visit and launches a powerful jab (attack total 21, damage 6).]

[ taser sailor jams his taser into thoster's side (atk 18, 2 electricity dmg) grunting as the rain pours down on the two of them locked in melee, even as brantley lands and his blow strikes the sailor with a gun hard enough to send the weapon skidding across the deck. ]

[Now David's mad. He takes the shot like a guy who's been shot before (he has) and launches himself onto the other boat (jump 15) to jump into the fray. Since Brantley seems to be dealing with the guy who shot him, he decides to turn his attention elsehwere.

He, instead aims for the guy with the taser, drawing his sword and swinging it towards him hard (attack 18, damage 9).]

Thanks, friend. [Thoster says to David as both men join him in the fray. Now there's three left focused on them, but one who shot off in another direction.] Andie. [He mutters her name under his breath while moving for the man who shot that way, bringing a blow down against him (attack 16, dmg 5)]

[ no sooner is the word out of thoster's mouth then he's shot again by the blue coated sailor, who backs up further on the deck (19 atk, 11 dmg.) eggplant turns his gun around to pistolwhip brantley, teeth gritted (atk 15, 2 dmg). ] Damn you, bloody pirates!

[Andie lets out a squeak when she's shot at and ducks inside. She starts looking for the cargo hold (navigate 10), mostly through the method of sticking her head in every door at super speed and seeing what looks promising (spot nat 20).]

[ the man thoster attacked pistol whips him (atk 17, dmg 4), as sailor a shoots at david (atk 21, 5 dmg).

some of the rooms carry lots of crates, but a few of them are locked tight :x ]

[A hit like that doesn't hurt much, but Brantley is not the type who can take much damage. His friends have also taken several shots. So, he knows that he needs to finish this fast before he and his fellow Knights start to fall. He angrily stares at eggplant without saying a single word and throws a straight followed by a brutal uppercut (attack 14, damage 4, off-hand 15, damage 10).]
