The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

That's two things I could probably stand to brush up on - especially since that information in this world is a little different from mine.

[She pauses.]

Don't remember much, then? I could teach you, if you'd like. Sort of an intro to crazy!

[She smiles a bit.]

I'd like that. It'd be good for me to catch up.

And I'm loads more fun than those stodgy Hoard people. [ lookin' at u, andrew. ] It'll be fun!

[She laughs.]

I haven't met many, so I can't say I have a basis for comparison.

Huge nerds, the lot of them. [ her nose wrinkles, but she's smiling, so it's clear the ribbing is good natured. ] All the sects are brilliant though, frankly. And the Dragon's Claws are [dreamy] amazing.

I've heard about the Dragon's Claws. Have you actually met them?

[Curiosity abounds. And possibly it's something that Kate can aspire to one day.]

Yeah, once or twice. My parents were knights, even though we were in Ireland, we sort of grew up around all this. They're as brilliant as to be expected. My brother, Finn, wants to be one of 'em one day. [ ella would prefer he not tbh. ] Hopefully not for a long time though, considering the way openings come about.

Still, it's good to have goals.

[Though she's not hoping that one shows up anytime soon, given the givens.]

That's exactly what he says. [ she studies the other woman for a moment. immediately fond. ] You wouldn't be hoping to head for the Hide, would you?

[She pauses, before shaking her head.]

I don't know what I'm heading for yet. I'm still figuring things out.

[ hmm, she gives kate a shrewd look and nods. ] That's a smart way to go at it.

[Kate nods a bit before shrugging.]

I don't remember much from home. I figure if this place is going to treat me like I have a clean slate, then I should keep my options open.

I don't really get the whole clean slate thing.

To be honest? I don't really either. But ... I also don't remember enough of my past to say what I really did one way or the other.

[Except being very efficient at running into dead people.]

I think I'm as close to a clean slate as I'm going to get.

I wasn't born here? But I came through the veil when I was just a wee babe, so I don't remember anything at all. [ literally an infant. pm emma swan and august, except finn is awesome and august sucks. ] But loads of people come through later on in life and they make is just fine. I mean, look at Wynn. ...I don't think he was born here. You know what, I haven't got a clue. Scratch that bit. Sir Hasmed, definitely sure he's from the Shadow World, and look at him...

[ WOW ELLA SUCH A GREAT EXAMPLE. ]

[Kate frowns a bit before shaking her head.]

I don't think I've met him.

[ she'd point him out, but she cannot find him. whoops. (spot crit fail) ]

He's the head of Dragon's Fire, the magic sect.

[An "aha" look crosses her face.]

I haven't spent much time with the magic users. Though I did meet a guy with a crocodile?

Sir Gold. [ she nods with a little smile. ] We're a strange bunch.

[ on cue, her own ginger and white familiar saunters over like hey girl hey, and winds himself around kate's ankles, fluffy tail swishing back and forth. ] Aodhagán, leave her alone. You cannae just beg for pets, you wanker.

[Kate laughs softly, before stretching a hand down for the cat to sniff.]

He's beautiful. What does his name mean?

He's spoiled, is what he is. Means bright fire. [ it's pretty fitting, tbh. ]

[It is. It goes well with his coloring.]

Spoiled isn't such a bad thing - so long as he's not too spoiled.

He is. [ he huffs. like literally huffs. clearly he does not agree with her sentiments. ] Hear that, y'daft cow, you cannae be too spoilt, the pretty lady said so.

[Kate laughs a bit, before addressing the cat directly.]

Sorry. Apparently I'm the authority on these things.
