Everybody loves a media circus and the trial of Rafael Giovanni is no exception. If he was famous before, in the days following the shooting, now he's all people are talking about, and all the tabloids want to focus on. The complications presented at some of the early hearings by Jaka, regarding the identity of the Black Scourge and Rafael's alleged reaction have only made the story more appealing to the millions watching.

They've also caused the trial to drag out for months as facts are checked, evidence is poured over, and the jury becomes only more split on the issue. In the meantime, the holidays fly by, and one of the most terrible winters in years blankets Chicago in blizzards.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the last log and continuing for the next couple months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Elena and decide where to head next.

[Myri is making popcorn. Stress eating. It's a thing. At the exclamation, she turns, a little shocked by the outburst.]

I... Yes, I thought it was time. [She sort of forgets that some people don't know what her natural hair looks like.]

Time to... be blonde? [ not that she has anything about blondes, she just liked her brunette sister. they looked like sisters. she moves forward though with her bag of chocolate chips that never seems far, her actual bunny slippers snuffling across the floor, to perch next to myri, her hand reaching out to grab some of the pretty blonde hair between her fingers. ]

[She doesn't recall at all that Vi hasn't been there from the very beginning. Because it's felt like she's known Vi all her life... and because she crit failed to see if she remembered this...]

I was blonde before. I only dyed it for the cover. [Said in the tone that implies that Vi has been told this before, which she hasn't... Look emotional turmoil is hard.] It seemed too noticeable, but now... I wanted to feel like myself again.

[graveflowers]

This is your natural hair color? [ GOBSMACKED. ] It's so pretty... [ jfc you're so shallow, vi. ]

[witchwoman]

[A small smile touches her lips.]

I thought you knew... [Look, everyone likes to be complimented.]

Uh, no, I would remember this. You look like a fairytale.

[witchwoman]

Now you're just being silly. [Another smile. Wow this is more than she's managed in awhile.] It does help, though. Sometimes I think I nearly believed I was that girl I pretended to be.

[The arm candy, the groupie, the nameless, faceless date that Finnick kept around.]

Fairytale. [ she repeats that because myri needs to realize its true and she looks like a princess. and ukw her hands are probably absently starting to play with it after she tucked her candy in her lap. ] So are you saying my sister isn't really a wonderful, incredible brunette healer who makes Burt cry? 'cause that is what I see when I look at you, and unless you took all the amazing out with the hair dye, I think you might be the same beautiful woman, Myri.

[witchwoman]

[She can play with it and braid it and do whatever she likes really. Myri is content to sit and talk with her, because this is the most normal she's felt in some time.]

I don't think I ever made him cry. [A pause while a slight smile inches across her face.] He may have soiled himself, though.

[graveflowers]

[ she snorts. it's not really a laugh, but it's the tired equivalent of one. ] Even better, honestly.

[witchwoman]

[It's as close as either of them manage these days.]

I don't think I'll be scaring anyone anymore.

[graveflowers]

[ idk khaleesi, the new/old hair does not make the intimidation. if anything she looks more magical which could be more scary. ]

Well, Burt will have his baby soon, that'll be scary enough for him, probably.

[witchwoman]

That poor child... [For a moment, Myri had thought that Burt might learn how to pull a Grinch and have his heart grow three sizes. Somehow, she doubted that would happen.]

[graveflowers]

I dunno, Burt seems pretty hardcore when it comes to shit he's proud of. Not to mention how spoiled the littlest Becksworth is gonna be. Once he figures out the whole diaper thing, I think he'll be fine. And that's what live in nannies are for.

[witchwoman]

I suppose you're right. At least the child might have the chance to know their parents. [Someone sure doesn't know hers.] It may do him some good, for all we know.

[graveflowers]

Yeah. [ she glances over with her wis of 21. ] I don't know my parents either. I mean, I don't even know if I had a dad. Well, I know I had a dad because that's parent of the getting pregnant thing, even with gods, I think. Usually. But I don't know if I had a... [ omg demigod parentage she is going to quit while she is ahead. ]

[witchwoman]

[She nods.]

The Veil takes so many memories, that it's a wonder anyone can remember having parents at all. [Without realizing it, Myri leans a little closer to Vi, choosing not to bring up her past in more detail. She has family in the here and now. That's what matters.]

[graveflowers]

That's what Wynn is for. [ family. ] I remember the dumbest shit. Like, I'm allergic to bees. Which, mind you, is complete bullshit because of the whole flower power thing. I attract the terrifying little fuckers and yet, allergic. Go figure. And I know a vegetarian gumbo recipe crystal clear. But my parents, childhood? Ha, negative.

[witchwoman]

I remember everything. Or at least it doesn't feel like anything's missing. [There's plenty missing. A whole marriage and adopted kids, actually.] But it seems rare. That was something Finnick and I shared.

[You know when you are trying not to think about a thing and then that thing is all you can think about? Mopey break up Myri is mopey.]

[graveflowers]

[ ABORT. ABORT. ] Well, Des and I share a love of Etta James and hating on my people so. [ there was a point to that? but she's a dumbass and lost it on the way out of her mouth so who knows wtf she meant by it. ]

[witchwoman]

How is he? Have you talked to him at all? Des, I mean... [Not Finnick. She's not that brave to ask about him.]

[graveflowers]

[ snort. ] We've talked, but he never says anything so I'm not sure it even counts. He seems fine, so he's probably awful. No surprise there.

[witchwoman]

[She nods absently.] Everyone seems so unhappy.

[graveflowers]

We're kind of in an unhappiness tundra. But, I mean, who can even blame us? Everything is awful, we take one step forward and get yanked back three miles.

[witchwoman]

[She just nods, glancing down. She's usually the one to see the brighter side of things, play the optimist. But she can't now.]
