Everybody loves a media circus and the trial of Rafael Giovanni is no exception. If he was famous before, in the days following the shooting, now he's all people are talking about, and all the tabloids want to focus on. The complications presented at some of the early hearings by Jaka, regarding the identity of the Black Scourge and Rafael's alleged reaction have only made the story more appealing to the millions watching.

They've also caused the trial to drag out for months as facts are checked, evidence is poured over, and the jury becomes only more split on the issue. In the meantime, the holidays fly by, and one of the most terrible winters in years blankets Chicago in blizzards.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the last log and continuing for the next couple months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Elena and decide where to head next.

What's this 'not your place' crap? Of course we can wonder. We wouldn't wanna work for a supervillain or something. Not that I think Wynn's a supervillain. Purely in the realm of hypothetical here.

I just... I suppose it seems odd to question him when he's been kind enough to give us all this.

I don't think he'd want us blindly following him just because he was nice to us.

So what do you know about him?

About Wynn? Uhhhh, well I know he's got a whole bunch of his spawn throughout the world in the Knights. Like Fred.

[witchwoman]

You mean... Fred is Wynn's... son?

except... y'know... seriously. Myri had no idea. It's also the wrong idea, but whoops?]

Well, okay fine, no. More like... great grandspawn or whatever. Is that a thing?

You would know better than me, I think. But Fred's not the only one? Are there others in the castle?

His... uncle? At least. I think the rest are all stationed elsewhere.

[witchwoman]

Who's his uncle? [Myri finds this a little fascinating. Having no family of her own before, she's a little too intrigued about the inner workings of Wynn's family tree right now.]

You know more about it than me. [Myri says with a shrug.] Where did you learn all this?

... Fred yaps a lot when he's drinking.

Do you go drinking with Sir Fred often? [She might be smiling... maybe.]

No! [ the reply is pretty vehement, but not all that convincing. it's apparently a touchy subject. ] Things happen. Accidents. Accidental... drinking.

[witchwoman]

How do you..? [Myri squints, head tilted a bit in confusion. No really, Kat- please explain how you accidentally drink with someone.]

Ok, fine, maybe not so accidental, but a mistake. With a capital M.

[witchwoman]

Why? He seems nice. Not that I've talked to him much, though. Did he do something..? [Knowing a little more about Kat's past, she can't help but be a little concerned.]

she shifts uncomfortably, practically squirming ] Or... I don't know. That's the problem.



[ there's a beat, and then she says quickly, in her crit fail will save rush: ] We used to talk more sometimes, because I liked to give him crap, but one night I told him we should break into Wynn's cellar and snag some fey wine, and that stuff is not something to fuck around with, and we got abso-fucking sloshed off our asses down there, and I said... some shit that was dumb as fuck and --

I don't remember anything happening. But that doesn't mean it didn't. You know how men are.

[Myri knows about fey wine. She sang to a whole bar because of it.

She misses Thomas a little.

But that's not really the point. Myri doesn't understand Kat's stance, but that doesn't make it any less valid. The woman's experiences have formed this opinion, and while she may be judging someone on the mistakes of others, she won't fault her for it.]

Have you talked to him since then? Asking him about it?

No, I can't ask him about it, are you kidding? I can hardly even look at him! I mean who knows what I said in the first place and--- how much he remembers, and --

No. No way. Not in a million years.

[ it's only myri's diplomacy check of 31 and kat's roll of a THREE that probably prompt the following barely distinguishable mumble: ]

[witchwoman]

[At first, Myri isn't sure how to react. She's never heard Kat talk about having feelings for anyone. And for how reluctant she's been to talk about this at all, she knows that she has to be careful, else she'll just be shut out in a hurry.]

And do you remember what happened after? Did he say anything?

I don't know. It's all just a big blur after that.
