WHAT || The Knights investigate a strange series of fires

HOW || Actionspam. Single thread, don't worry about maintaining tagging order.

The Knights arrive at the scene of the fire several hours after the fact.  It's clearly gutted the building, located in a commercial district of Rome.  Only one fire truck remains, along with several police cruisers and a van marked 'Arson Investigation Unit' in Italian.  The police team seems hard at work combing over the scene.

A small sign in Italian hangs half-legible over the door.  Though the fire is out, the building still smolders, even as water drips from the blackened timbers and stone.

[ the wall is glowing with red heat, but it's pretty thick so he still has to hold his hand on it for awhile in order to burn a hole through, so... HE'S DOING THAT ]

[Meanwhile Rose isn't leaving until Kate at least is out of here so... yeah lets try that swing and a probably miss thing again; (Atk 26 Dmg 21 if it lands.)]

[ to rose's surprise, her weapon connects - and pierces right through the thing's chest, where heat licks up her arm but doesn't hurt her. it lets out an anguished cry and then there's a sudden explosion of light all around them, a roar of flames... and then the thing vanishes, defeated.

[Kate just kind of blinks, wide eyed at that, but it's something they can really discuss after they've escaped certain death. So she's just going to scramble on out of there in a surge of strength that came from God only knows where, doesn't matter she is out that window (climb nat 20).]

[holy shit they fucking did it.

or more like Rose and Alanna did whatever.

Bo helps Kate through the window (not that she needs it before she bends down, looking into the building.]

Rose, let's go!

[Trust that nobody was more surprised by that than Rose, at least if the look on her face as the charred one disappeared was anything to go by.]

Uh... com-ing? [And with her climb check of 17 she's out the window along with everyone else.]

[ alanna tries so hard and gets so far and in the end falls on her ass (climb check 10). giving it another go with an action point, she clambers out the window with ease now that she's got a feel for it (climb 21).

up and out after rose. ]

[Kate stumbles as far away from the wall as she can get before she stops, glancing back to take in the state of the building. They really shouldn't stop, however, so she keeps stepping backwards, before glancing around to see if they can find Moretti (spot nat 20).]

Where is he?

[They can deal with wtf happened to the ghost when they have their guy again.]

[After Alanna emerges from the window behind Rose, Bo finally turns away from the building, assuming the others will do the same, and checking for their target. (Spot 21)]

There. [She points before she starts to run after him.] Might as well catch his sorry ass.

And get clear in case this place blows. [Wisdom 18 as Rose takes just a moment to catch her breath as Bo runs off after Moretti before looking to see if Kate needs a hand getting away.]

Can you run? [Tho the alternative may in fact be piggy-backing. JS.]

[ moretti is booking it across the parking lot, they can see. no sooner has bo started after him and rose turned back to kate that... the building explodes behind them. reflex save 15+ or take 14 fire dmg. a successful save lessens the damage to 7, or to 0 if you have Evasion. ]

this guy.

and like she has evasion so it's literally the only way for her to have taken full damage, but here she is, taking the brunt of the blast and getting tossed aside by it and burned up pretty badly. half her health badly. ]

[Bo's reflex save is exactly 15, and she has evasion, so apparently she just...dodges that shit like a boss. Somehow. Duck and roll, I guess.

And then immediately turns around because she is not cool enough to not look at explosions, mostly because she want to make sure none of her buddies exploded with the building or got hit with debris.]

[Kate's is exactly 15 as well, but unfortunately she does not have evasion so she's unconscious.

Again.

This is a mission that it really sucks to be Kate.]

Kate! [ alanna is not so injured that she misses kate getting blasted by the explosion and knocked out. she crawls across the asphalt and stretches a hand out to reach towards her fellow knight. as her fingertips brush against kate's back, purple light pours between them. cure light wounds heals her for +9 hp. because she's out of cure moderate wounds and now also out of cure light wounds so STOP THAT, KATE. ]

[SHE'S NOT DOING THIS ON PURPOSE. She groans as she comes out of it again, looking up at Alanna with a soft sigh.]

[ Rather than reply verbally, Alanna nods, smiling through some visible exhaustion. Sweat beads over her face and she slumps briefly back to the ground, her own injuries and the expenditure of her magic leaving her very ragged. ]

The others need to ... go after him.

[ Because Alanna sure fucking can't, and she doesn't think Kate's in any shape to either. But she can't shout. ]

[Kate's actually got ... most of her HP back thanks to that spell so she's pretty good, but now it's time for her to return the favor. She can handle the shouting for her.]

You guys go after Moretti! I'll stay with Alanna.

[ make a spot check, kate & alanna, and a wisdom check, kate! ]

[Kate takes a glance around, mostly trying to see if she can spot where they parked the car, but she could see other things too (spot 21)! And also possibly may infer things from them (wisdom 11)!]

[ kate may be healed, but she notices something strange on the ground around them. it seems like the 'explosion' also carried some of the chemicals from the building, as she can see strange green stains lingering yet. ]

[Kate takes notice of the chemicals before reaching forward to haul Alanna off the ground and away from the tree (strength 17).]

Come on. We need to get back to the car and away from the plant.

[Meanwhile, Bo is chasing after Moretti at a dead sprint, after being given the okay by Kate.]

[ ok up we go!! alanna joins kate in running the fuck away now. ]
