The "afterparty" is the real main event of the night at every squiring, but tonight's party is a little different than usual - Faith has successfully lobbied (as in roped people into helping her decorate for) a Chinese New Year's party, or Lunar New Year, theme.  With Knights from all over the world, it was easy to get input from those who traditionally celebrate the holiday, and Wynn is all about the spirit of cultural unity.  Not to mention, the second of the 15 days of the spring festival is all about spending time with one's family and friends.  

The lavish, opulent ballroom has been transformed, filled with red lanterns, peach blossoms, kumquat plants, and chrysanthemums.    People are encouraged to dress in red to ward off evil spirits and bad luck, and avail themselves of the New Year's Cake, golden champagne cocktail, rice pudding, candied fruits, and the Tray of Togetherness.

As always, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

I went speed datin' with him one time and no one spared him a glance 'til I made out with him and all the other girls when ooh, so he's got a bit of something, has he? [ ella narrows her eyes for a moment and then her expression clears. ] Okay, best friend duties over. God, that was exhausting. Caring is so much bloody work, I retire.

Wynn, in all his infinite wisdom, sent Andrew and I out camping. I expect he hit his head, actually because neither of us are very nature....y. It was the first time we met, Andrew and I, so about two years ago now? [ she does some quick mental math. ] Two and a few months maybe. I suppose that's not the point.

We were in the woods, camping like prize fucking idiots since we're both a bit dense when it comes to surviving. Or packing a bloody torch. We went off to find some more wood for the fire and got separated. [ and here is where the truth diverges wholly from the fiction of this story. but it's still fairly believable (bluff 19) because I guess she can only lie when it comes to boosting andrew's street cred. such a good best friend. ] There's this... thing in Ireland, called Bloody Bones? He's basically our version of the Boogeyman, he preys on kids that aren't very kind and gentle, or tell lies and cuss. So basically me. [ kanyeshrug, she knows she has a very expletive riddled manner of speaking sometimes. ] Andrew sort of saved me. [ and her nose wrinkles to show how much she hates that. ] I mean, granted he tripped and shoved Bloody Bones into the fire, but he well and proper fucking saved me so now I've got to be grateful to that bastard.

[ a beat. ] And then the next night we got a hotel on Wynn's tab because no, no camping, that shit is for elves.
