The "afterparty" is the real main event of the night at every squiring, but tonight's party is a little different than usual - Faith has successfully lobbied (as in roped people into helping her decorate for) a Chinese New Year's party, or Lunar New Year, theme.  With Knights from all over the world, it was easy to get input from those who traditionally celebrate the holiday, and Wynn is all about the spirit of cultural unity.  Not to mention, the second of the 15 days of the spring festival is all about spending time with one's family and friends.  

The lavish, opulent ballroom has been transformed, filled with red lanterns, peach blossoms, kumquat plants, and chrysanthemums.    People are encouraged to dress in red to ward off evil spirits and bad luck, and avail themselves of the New Year's Cake, golden champagne cocktail, rice pudding, candied fruits, and the Tray of Togetherness.

As always, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Yeah, the Emerald Isle. [ she decides not to mention that great britain is an island too. ] It's right next door. Wee, tiny little branch.

How's that work? If there's a warmer branch, I'd give my left arm for a chance at being reassigned there. [ alanna wants deserts and wide open spaces not cold and fog and england. ]

Oh it's not warmer. [ she hurries to punch that misconception in the nuts because ireland may have a tropical climate (and palm trees!) in the south, but it's just as rubbishy and rainy across the irish sea. ] It's practically the same, actually. [ her face scrunches up in ew. ] You can ask Wynn though, I doubt he's really against chucking knights elsewhere, he's let me bounce between here and Ireland for years now.

Ah, no, I could guess. But to the South, I've heard there are desert lands. Hundreds of miles.

Egypt is quite nice. Or Morocco, I love Casa Blanca.

Egypt, that's one I'll take. Any necromancer would love to get himself inside one of those pyramids, I wager. Can't be a shortage of work in those parts.

[ that's pm it, ok. ] Oh yeah, loads of curses. Bit harsh on the skin though and the sand gets everywhere. You'd be like a unicorn there, with that hair.

You sound like Coram. [ she crinkles her nose in amusement, but there's lingering sadness in her eyes. she tries not to think a lot about how she misses tortall, because she'd always wanted adventures, and there are plenty to be had here. but coram, that's one bond that can never be replaced. ] We were riding across the Great Southern Desert before I came through the Veil. He'd keep telling me I'd be lucky if we lasted a week before I went up in flames, fair as I am.

[ shifting the sleeves of her dress, she shows off the lovely sunburns she got from her mission in egypt. she hasn't gotten her burnt shoulders healed as a point of pride, she done fucked up, she can deal with the pain of being a dumbass. ] Sunscreen, is all I'm saying. So long as you bathe in sunscreen you'd probably be fine. S'ppose they haven't got sunscreen in all worlds though.
