The "afterparty" is the real main event of the night at every squiring, but tonight's party is a little different than usual - Faith has successfully lobbied (as in roped people into helping her decorate for) a Chinese New Year's party, or Lunar New Year, theme.  With Knights from all over the world, it was easy to get input from those who traditionally celebrate the holiday, and Wynn is all about the spirit of cultural unity.  Not to mention, the second of the 15 days of the spring festival is all about spending time with one's family and friends.  

The lavish, opulent ballroom has been transformed, filled with red lanterns, peach blossoms, kumquat plants, and chrysanthemums.    People are encouraged to dress in red to ward off evil spirits and bad luck, and avail themselves of the New Year's Cake, golden champagne cocktail, rice pudding, candied fruits, and the Tray of Togetherness.

As always, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Always! [ she grins, reaching out toward his glass to carefully place just her index finger against it. looking down, he would see it quickly fill back up with a dark red liquid that's probably wine, and she winks. ]

[...Well, Thoster has a new best friend.]

Where have you been all my life?

[ she lets out a boisterous, good-humored laugh, obviously quite delighted with his reaction ] Oh, here and there, and probably just about everywhere.

I'm Fiona. [ she thrusts her free hand out toward him, and the silver bands wrapped tightly around her wrist catch a glint from the lantern light above ]

[bluffcheck]

Thoster. [He takes her hand and turns it so that he can press a kiss to the back of it.]

Been a bit of everywhere myself. I'm sure you've got a few tales worth telling, hm?

[ she gives him a weird look at the gesture, but she doesn't blush or anything so modest ]

I'm sure I've got some of those locked up here. [ she gives her temple a light tap ] That is, if you can think of a good way to spark my memory? [ maybe she's being coy...? it's hard to tell ]

[bluffcheck]

A song? A dance? A drink to make both of those come quicker? Anything you desire- name it and it's yours.

Well, we have our drinks. [ she holds hers up to emphasize ] And there's plenty more where that came from. So, how about a dance?

[ she takes thoster's free hand, pulling him along with her, calling over her shoulder: ] Oh, and I'm definitely up for some singing, too.

[The music playing is slow and lazy, not exactly over romantic but certainly not any of that crazy pop music that Thoster can't quite get used to.]

No reason to do one without the other. [He counters, trailing after her with an easy grin. Stepping around her, he adjusts his hand in hers to get the better grip to twirl her about and bring her close into his arms, swaying gently in time with the music (perform: dance - 15). It's nothing fancy but maybe that's so he can focus the little song he starts to sing, quiet at first, like it's just for her, but slowly building so that the others around them can enjoy (perform: song 26). He's a bit of a show off, but he's got his focus very much on her.]

[ she falls into step with him easily (perform: dance 21), wearing a happy smile and not the least bit apprehensive of his touch or attention. as he begins to sing, she laughs, throwing her head back, and it's a bright and cheerful sound clearly emphasizes just how much she's enjoying this. she reels it back in to listen carefully to his words, though, seemingly not perturbed or embarrassed by the display at all.

somewhere in the middle of the song her expression changes, a look of strange realization clouding her features, but then it's gone, faster than it had come, and she's smiling merrily again as he finishes. ] Now, that's a memory I hope I never lose.

[bluffcheck]

[He seems to notice a shift in her expression (spot 19), but doesn't stop the song to ask and soon enough she's back to smiling and he's simply happy to continue to entertain. When he finishes, he grins down at her, still holding her close and moving along with the music.]

Well, should you ever have the misfortune, come find me and I'll drum up another one for you, hm?

You do seem quite skilled at refreshing my memory. [ she certainly looks impressed, in a word. and a tad bit breathless from all the excitement. ]

So you've got that. And the singing, and the dancing. What other talents do you have up your sleeve, hm? [ it doesn't really come off as an innuendo, although she is still staring up at him, googly-eyed. ]

Plenty more. I captain a ship, though I've less and less time to take her out now that I've become a Knight. [He doesn't jump to the innuendo until someone makes it clear that it's what they are hinting at. For now, he will just continue to get to know her.]

And what about you, lass? Surely you must have some talents to share.

You have a ship? That so cool! I'm not sure I can compete with that. Although, I am a genie. [ and she holds up one of her arms to show off those silver bands around her wrist ]

[bluffcheck]

Sailed her right through the Veil. Suppose she couldn't bear to be leave my side. [He glances at her silver bands and recalls a story from his travels (bardic knowledge nat 20). He knows some things.] Here I am trying to impress you and you've surely got some tricks up your sleeve as well.

Oh, yeah, lots of tricks. Or spells, if you will. This probably isn't the best place to show them off though. But the wine, that's part of it.

Oh, and I like being impressed, by the way.

[bluffcheck]

The wine? [He tilts his head slightly, looking for clarification on that.] Oh yes- your lot can do that, can't you? Now I'm certain to keep you close by.

[He wraps one arm around her slightly tighter as if to prove the point.]

[ she smiles wider as he pulls her in, but she can't help but ask: ] Have you met others like me before?

[bluffcheck]

[He shakes his head.] Sadly, no, but I've heard a tale or two in my travels. Always wanted to meet one for myself. Suppose I should count myself lucky to have met such a pretty one.

I'm pretty sure I'm the best one, honestly. I've never met another, either, though, but I'm still pretty sure it's true.

How long have you been here, anyway?

[bluffcheck]

Coming up on two years, now. But let's not talk about me now, lass. You're far more interesting. Now you say you haven't met another like you. Not any? Not even your parents?

[missindependent]

Oh, my parents aren't genies. I don't really recall the details of how I became like this, but there's lots of weird things about me, I guess.

Let's see... [ she scrunches her face, concentrating ] I have really good luck! Like, really good.

[bluffcheck]

[Intrigued, he stops their dance long enough to pull back and dig a coin out of his pocket.]

Heads or tails, then? [Normal people don't do this shit. Oh well. He flips it, catches it and holds it covered for her guess.]

[missindependent]

[ she rests her hand over his, even though that's mostly just for show, because she already knows what it is ] Heads.

[DRAMATICALLY PULLS HAND AWAY TO REVEAL....]

Oh, I like you.

[ she gives him a wink, pulling him back in to continue dancing ] That was easy. I'm trying to think if I have any other tricks I can show off.
