The "afterparty" is the real main event of the night at every squiring, but tonight's party is a little different than usual - Faith has successfully lobbied (as in roped people into helping her decorate for) a Chinese New Year's party, or Lunar New Year, theme.  With Knights from all over the world, it was easy to get input from those who traditionally celebrate the holiday, and Wynn is all about the spirit of cultural unity.  Not to mention, the second of the 15 days of the spring festival is all about spending time with one's family and friends.  

The lavish, opulent ballroom has been transformed, filled with red lanterns, peach blossoms, kumquat plants, and chrysanthemums.    People are encouraged to dress in red to ward off evil spirits and bad luck, and avail themselves of the New Year's Cake, golden champagne cocktail, rice pudding, candied fruits, and the Tray of Togetherness.

As always, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Then you don't need to talk to people. But you do care, right? Or at least you care about people not finding out the thing you're doing. And since we're talking. I'm Brantley. [He offers his hand for a shake.]

[ she stares at his hand reproachfully, silent for a moment, then reaches out to shake it. ]

Emma. [ she drops his hand before correcting him. ] And I don't, actually. Care. [ with her bluff of 9, it's not very convincing. even less so when she hops right along to what she's actually interested in. ] They knighted a guy named Peter Pan. All I wanna know is what his deal is.

[And he sees right through her (sense motive 14).] He has quite a bit of a name but I'm sure they don't let guy with hidden agenda joins the Knight. But if you're really interested about him I can help you question him, I'm pretty good at detecting lies. [He makes his not-so-serious offer with a smile.]

... Yeah, I don't really need help in that department. [ and she sounds like she's actively trying not to be indignant because it's the one thing she's ever felt like she's good at. brantley, she realizes, has no way of knowing that, but it's still hard not to feel the sting. ]

[Brantley can sense her indignation like a hound smelling for blood (sense motive 17).] I'm sure you are talented but an extra pair of eye never hurt, right? Beside, you can't do the 'good cop and bad cop' act alone.

Work alone long enough, and you figure it out. [ being a bounty hunter, she'd mastered it as much as she could. lure the bounty heads in with smiles and nail them to the fucking ground when she got them close enough. ]

Then maybe you can teach me some of your tricks. I could use hints from someone who has more experiences than me. [He doesn't really belief she is more experienced than him, but he wants to keep the conversation flowing and see if she is as good as she said. (bluff 22)]

[ with a sense motive of 27, she's 1000% done, because that just makes it come across as patronizing to have lied about it in the first place. she sneers her disbelief silently, then with a roll of her eyes, shoulders past him to try and continue on her sweep of the hall. ]

[Oops. Maybe he shouldn't have done that. He lets her go this time and saves his apologies for another time-when she is in better mood and when he is less pesky.]
