The "afterparty" is the real main event of the night at every squiring, but tonight's party is a little different than usual - Faith has successfully lobbied (as in roped people into helping her decorate for) a Chinese New Year's party, or Lunar New Year, theme.  With Knights from all over the world, it was easy to get input from those who traditionally celebrate the holiday, and Wynn is all about the spirit of cultural unity.  Not to mention, the second of the 15 days of the spring festival is all about spending time with one's family and friends.  

The lavish, opulent ballroom has been transformed, filled with red lanterns, peach blossoms, kumquat plants, and chrysanthemums.    People are encouraged to dress in red to ward off evil spirits and bad luck, and avail themselves of the New Year's Cake, golden champagne cocktail, rice pudding, candied fruits, and the Tray of Togetherness.

As always, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Apparently he really wants to live out his dream to be Bella Swan. We were using the cut outs for target practice and he got all crazy and pulled out his gun. So I set the stack on fire and told him to fuck off.

[ WHY ARE HER FRIENDS MORONS?!?!?!!? she's not even mad at faye, but she can't process the being upset that her friend almost died and it turns into frustration very, very quickly. because that was a dumb fucking move and she isn't going to abide her best friend being a complete and utter dumbass.

if faye is going to get shot than it damn well better be for a better reason than that she can't keep her fucking mouth shut. she doesn't pull punches with faye, she's not about to start now. ]

lila moves forward until the space between them disappears and her bare fingers are digging into faye's wrist. even with the inches faye has on her, the intensity lila radiates doesn't make her seem so tiny. (intimidate 31) ]

You dumb little girl. Terrorists can be negotiated with because they have goals. Do you know why psychopaths do things? Because it's fun. [ lila doesn't work people because she's a masochist, she doesn't work people because it's easier than talking her way in and out of things. she does it because it's a compulsion and she enjoys it. ] What you do, Faye, in the face of something clearly unstable, is back the fuck off. [ she flings faye's arm away and steps back. ] I sure hope you weren't banking on me getting back at him for you because I'm not cleaning up your stupid mess again.

[Faye would need a nat 20 will save and she...doesn't get that, so she freezes when Lila grabs her wrist. She's never been afraid of Lila touching her bare skin, not even after the stunt with Rose. She trusts the other girl. She'd always trust her.

Even now, she's more afraid that Lila will break her wrist than put her in a trance. Faye's mouth works open and closed, searching for words until the blond flings her arm away. Fear and disappointment are not easy for her to process. It's one of so many things that she has in common with Lila. And as the shock of the situation wears on, the unfamiliar emotions turn to anger. It's easier to process that way. It's easier to cope with.]

No one asked you to clean up anything. I managed just fine without you.

[She cared more than she wanted to admit that Lila had be gone when all this went down. She remains a little bitter that she has to share her friend's attention with anyone. And before her scowl can start to give away how hurt she actually is, Faye turns and storms off to distract herself with the rest of the crowd.]

lila watches her stalk off, jaw clenched and her lips pressed together in a line. her hands ball into fists by her sides. maybe she shouldn't have been so harsh, but the idea of faye in danger made her want to vomit and the idea of faye putting herself in danger because she couldn't hold her tongue made her want to scream.

once that dark head of hair disappears into the crowd, lila turns and walks out, discretely wiping tears from her cheeks. she didn't want to be here in the first place.

maybe it was better that they broke now, whatever they were, instead of later. it was inevitable. lila breaks everything she touches. ]
