The "afterparty" is the real main event of the night at every squiring, but tonight's party is a little different than usual - Faith has successfully lobbied (as in roped people into helping her decorate for) a Chinese New Year's party, or Lunar New Year, theme.  With Knights from all over the world, it was easy to get input from those who traditionally celebrate the holiday, and Wynn is all about the spirit of cultural unity.  Not to mention, the second of the 15 days of the spring festival is all about spending time with one's family and friends.  

The lavish, opulent ballroom has been transformed, filled with red lanterns, peach blossoms, kumquat plants, and chrysanthemums.    People are encouraged to dress in red to ward off evil spirits and bad luck, and avail themselves of the New Year's Cake, golden champagne cocktail, rice pudding, candied fruits, and the Tray of Togetherness.

As always, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

It gets better. [ she spreads her hands. ] Giant rats! It was like the dirty, unfunny version of the Princess Bride without a friendly giant and no one would let me keep the dragon.

There was a dragon, too? Why would you want to keep it? Although, I guess that'd be kind of cool ... you could ride around on it and stuff. [she didn't get the cat-sized memo, ok.]

Yeah, but I bet it left some stuff out. [not that she's ever seen it who even knows.]

Moot point, since I have no dragon. [ :| ] I named him Snowflake.

Oh, cute! Was he an ice dragon? [only marginally sorry for rubbing it in ....]

Sure? I don't remember what Scruffy McGnome called him. He was white.

[shrug] Sounds close enough to me. Sucks that you couldn't keep him.

Right? [ she makes a face because look she is still a little pissed she doesn't have a dragoncat hanging out with her. ] How useful would a kick ass little dragon be? But no, Lila can't keep the dragon. [ MUCH SPITE. VERY BITTER. ]

It was little? Like, how little?

[ she holds up her hands about a foot apart. very little. ]

[she scrunches up her face, feeling significantly less impressed now.] That's the size of a cat or something! Oh my god though, I bet it was super-cute. Small things are always cute, it's a proven fact.

He was. And it took about five grown people to subdue it so he wasn't some Fancy Feast prissy cat. [ lila in dragoncat form tbh. ]

I wonder if he would've let you dress him up. One time, Attica and I found a stray cat outside her apartment. She didn't want to keep it, but I left food out for it sometimes and subdued it enough to the point where I could put it in a bumble bee costume.

Well, I guess they both smell fear and bite... that's weird though, dressing cats up. They have shows on why that is weird. Was the cat your replacement baby because you and Attica couldn't spawn your own progeny?

[bitch pls :| even tho maybe it's a little true...] What? No! Felix loved his costume, it was fucking cold out. And it's not like I was ever afraid of him.

I really doubt he loved it. Maybe a radiator, I'm sure he really loved a radiator and being well fed. But cats, on a whole, are not fans of outfits.
