The "afterparty" is the real main event of the night at every squiring, but tonight's party is a little different than usual - Faith has successfully lobbied (as in roped people into helping her decorate for) a Chinese New Year's party, or Lunar New Year, theme. With Knights from all over the world, it was easy to get input from those who traditionally celebrate the holiday, and Wynn is all about the spirit of cultural unity. Not to mention, the second of the 15 days of the spring festival is all about spending time with one's family and friends.

The lavish, opulent ballroom has been transformed, filled with red lanterns, peach blossoms, kumquat plants, and chrysanthemums. People are encouraged to dress in red to ward off evil spirits and bad luck, and avail themselves of the New Year's Cake, golden champagne cocktail, rice pudding, candied fruits, and the Tray of Togetherness.

As always, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Oh. [ sense motive nat 20, it all clicks into place. no wonder faye wanted a drink. she wavers for a bit, debating whether or not to offer condolences, but she settles on the opposite, jade eyes flashing wickedly. ] We'll just have to find you someone new to play with then.

What? [The shock of that reaction actually pulls Faye out of her funk. Things she was not expecting... Lissa being fun.]

Have anyone in mind?

[ LISSA IS ALWAYS FUN GDI. ] Not especially, but I'm sure we could find someone. [ she scans the room, mouth set in a thoughtful line as she sips her drink through the straw. ]

Stick to guys this time. I don't usually go for girls. [Which is to say that she really doesn't go after women at all, but she has to keep up this lie because it's the only fun thing about her night. But all it does is probably make it sound more like Lila was the special exception awwwwwww.]

[ still looking around, she taps her nails against the side of the glass. not david, she wouldn't inflict her on him -- that would be rude. not max, because she hasn't seen him yet, but that would be funny. (she's a horrible person when spirit high, surprise!) THERE AREN'T A LOT OF CHOICES. she doesn't know many men in the castle. ]

...You can't be serious. He's ancient. And bony. [And this is coming from someone with intense daddy issues.] Props for thinking outside of the box, though. I'm not opposed to sleeping my way to the top.

I think he's handsome. [ not her type, except for the taciturn part, but still, very handsome. ] And I'm sure you can make your way to the top with other means.

[ snort of laughter, she coughs, choking a bit on her drink. ] I was thinking something less violent, Faye. [ SUCH FOND EXASPERATION. ]

You're no fun. [But she's smiling. Such a strange friendship they have forged here. Faye is not sure why or how this happened.]

Visiting you in prison for murder would be equally no fun. [ just saying. ]

I'm not sure it is. [ but she crit failed her will save and faye has become a surprisingly friendly friend, so... fuck it. ] It was Rose. Dimitri and I, along with... someone else I can't remember, we broke her out of prison. She was innocent of course. [ "but she does bring these things on herself" seems to be what's left unsaid. ]

How'd you do it, though? [Violence? Espionage? Just...talking their way out of it? Faye personally hopes they blew the place up.]

[ POT MEET KETTLE. lissa shoots her a warning look that very blatantly reads "stop". and in case faye misses that, she will verbalize. ] Stop it. Rose is one of the best people I have ever met. Don't... [ she can't articulate what she wants faye to not do, so she just shakes her head. she doesn't want to have to defend rose to faye because it hurts. she can't call rose her best friend anymore, she can't claim rose would always protect her anymore. rose is more of a stranger to lissa than faye is. ] Please.

[ man, no wonder she is a hot mess when max gets his hands on her. ] It isn't hard to grasp. You don't do subtle. [ not well, she doesn't say faye doesn't to subtle well, she just doesn't do subtle at all. ]

I don't see much point in being less than direct. It works, doesn't it?
