It's Valentine's Day! All around people are happily snuggling up with their loved one or drowning their feelings in booze and/or ice cream. Give out cards or chocolate or commiserate with other single people! Whoo Valentine's Day!

I must admit, you make it very difficult to concentrate on doing so, saying such things. [ he raises one hand to her cheek, sliding in back into her hair with a smile ]

[ she grins a little and tries to tamp down on it like she is so blasé, but no. ] I must be the perfect girl for you in that case.

[ she is down for that, yo. all these aphrodisiac flowers and her wonderful boyfriend and the anniversary of the day they met. she hasn't even had to get out of bed yet, it's a red fucking letter day. after a moment, she gently pulls back, pushing her hair out of her face but not going very far. her adhd is just distracting her. ] Do elves have, like, special uh... courting dealios that I'm making you miss out on 'cause I'm a boring old human?

[ he tilts his head slightly, eyes glinting with amusement at the question. ] I wouldn't say that, particularly. Elven... relationships tend to be extensions of deep bonds of friendship formed, that segue naturally into sharing ourselves with one another.

You make it sound like we're all born old.

[ well... elves do have that whole wise lord of the rings thing going on, she might have meant it just like that, but that's dumb so she's not going to admit it. ]

It is kind of hard to comprehend someone a hundred times older than me. Not that I care, I mean, I love you -- even if you're a million in dog years. I guess I've never really thought of you... as a child though.

[ she affects a gasp, but it turns into a smile quickly. ] See, I... I really can't imagine it.

So am I, but I'm pretty sure I looked the same. Just tiny. Super short, brown pigtails, baby fat, tiny bow. Well, I'm imagining the last part because I never learned how to shoot, I just knew so I assume I learned when I was small.

[ man, that is exactly what she needed to hear. and she didn't know she needed to hear it. luthir is the only reason that violet isn't completely batshit after 224 nights of the same nightmare delicately chipping away at her self-worth and self-control and sanity. the only reason she hasn't taken a trip to visit raf's suicide bridge. he's the only reason she gets out of bed most days. because he loves her for some stupid reason and she never wants to see him looking the way rafael looks.

her arms tighten around his neck and she buries her face against his shoulder. he's too good to her, but she's too selfish to try to verbalize that. ]

[ she never considered herself the marrying kind. she always thought she'd end up alone with a flock of magical singing woodland creatures surrounding her snow white cabin in the woods -- sans dwarves, unless dovan wanted to stop by -- but luthir changed her mind. he changed her, for the better, making her want to try just a little bit harder, for herself. ]

[ for a moment, she can feel in his body that he's stunned, although it's not a tense reaction. perhaps it's just that he never thought she might be the marrying type either. perhaps it's something to do with the pace of elven life.

perhaps it's none of those things. it doesn't seem to matter though. he turns his head to look down at the top of hers. ] ... You mean that? [ there's a warmth in his tone, a wonder, but lbr this isn't the first time vi has told him 'marry me' - she did the first time they met. sometimes his human sarcasm radar is still not 100% effective. better to check. ]

[ a little snort of laughter shakes her body before she nods. she doesn't pull back or move because if he says no she doesn't actually want to see that happen so she stays curled against him. just in case. ]

Yes. [ she swallows past the dryness of her mouth and after a hesitation, releases her grip and moves back slightly. what if he said yes. maybe she wants to see that happen more than she doesn't want to see him say no. ] Will you marry me?
