It's that time again. New squires would have heard the word come 'round that there would be open weapons orientation this Tuesday- which is also open to anyone who just wants to come spar with the newbies as well. As before, at the top of the main staircase is the entrance to an incredibly spacious room, that has gym and weight training equipment on the wall near the door, and then lots of old school training dummies and more at the far end. A glass door enters into a firing range, and another pair of large doors on the farthest wall lead to the armory.

Sir Carpenter waits over by the firing range door, arms folded. Red-headed Sir Ironsides hefts an axe over his shoulder and offers a boisterous greeting to those approaching, and Fred helps round people up to the middle of the room.

Some of the squires' mentor Knights will have accompanied them - others will have left them to their own devices. Everyone's welcome to tag into threads or make their own!

[Raising his morning star, Thoster gives another little smile and a nod before he steps forward and swings, aiming for the man's ribs (attack 16, damage 6 if that hits)]</small.

[A narrow miss, but Aedan manages to avoid the blow before it can connect. He doesn't hesitate to strike toward his opponent's exposed side with the sword before Thoster can recover from the swing (attack 12, damage 5, which I think is a miss.)]

[Not that he will hold as much against you, boo. Name of the game and all that, but he'll be doing his damnedest to slice you open in the meantime (attack 15, damage 8).]

[15 will hit! Thoster hisses as the blade bites into the skin of his bicep, blood soaking into the fabric of his sleeve.]

That'll leave a nice scar later, I'd wager.

[He seems fueled by the heat of the battle, coming back with a blow of his own, morningstar swung hard and aim true (attack 23, damage 7).]

[Aedan releases a pained grunt when he fails to dodge the blow in time, and has his shoulder practically dislodged due to the blunt impact of Thoster's weapon. Though the long sleeves of his black shirt hide any blood trickling down his arm after he's pulled away, the warm sensation against his skin is unmistakable.]

I can give you another, if you'd like.

[Because shit was getting real now. The hilt of his sword gripped that much tighter, he swings the blade in an attempt to leave a matching cut on his opponent's opposite bicep (attack 20 total, damage 4).]

[The second blow lands and causes Thoster to lose his grip enough to cause his swing to go wild (attack 7). ]

Ones more than enough for me, I think. Unless you know a pretty cleric who might patch me up.

I know a few of them, actually. [Apparently some friendly gloating and mounting an actual offensive didn't go well together, because Aedan's next swing misses its mark entirely (attack 9). Shut up his shoulder hurts.]

[Grinning as the slash goes wide, Thoster does what he does best... Take advantage of the opportunity. He brings a heavy blow down to the man's ribs (attack 19, damage 9).]

Looks like it's best that you know them, eh? Might be seeing them soon.

[Though he clenches his teeth to keep from crying out, there's no muting entirely the guttural howl he responds with upon the impact--his opponent's blow having effectively knocked the wind from his lungs in addition to the blunt and piercing damage it inflicted. Yeah, he'll definitely be needing that Cleric when they're finished here.

He staggers backward to give himself a moment's reprieve, but then lunges forward again to swing his blade before Thoster can gain another opening (attack 22, damage 4).]

[The blow hits and Thoster hisses as a new cuts springs fresh across his leg.]

Haven't had enough yet, have you? Alright.. [His steps aren't as sure, now that there's a nagging pain in his leg, but that doesn't stop him from winding up another blow to the same said as last (attack 23, dmg 7).]

I'll admit- I haven't had a dance like this in some time. You're not bad, friend.

[Yeah, there's definitely going to be a cracked rib or three after all is said and done. Rather than recoil this time however, Aedan forces himself forward to thust his blade toward Thoster's torso (attack 23, damage 7).]

Eye for an eye. Or rib for a rib, as it were.

[Thoster cries out when the blade sinks into his flesh.]

I'll be nothing but ribbons and you'll be a pile of broken bones. [Theres humor there as he fights through the pain. His weapon moves, making its mark but not with nearly the same force (attack 19, dmg 3).]

Don't suppose you'd call it a draw?

[It was nothing compared to the earlier blows, but it gets Aedan off his ass so that there's at least space between them again.]

Is there your way of forfeiting? [It comes off more as friendly ribbing than anything actually accusatory or demeaning because, let's face it, Thoster was right. Dragging it out further would be pointless outside of petty pride at this point.]

A draw then. [He lowers his blade.] If only because I don't want to drag you across the hall after I've won.

It's my way of saying I'd rather quit while we're ahead and can simply nurse our wounds over a cold drink. [He laughs and gestures for the door.]

They'll be another day for you to beat me bloody. [Not at all too proud to give this one to you, Aedan.]

I look forward to it. [Not so much as beating him bloody as getting the opportunity to cross weapons with him again. Because Thoster made an impressive sparring partner.

And just like that he's reminded of his poor cracked ribs, because being friendly and smiling made him want to double over.]

Perhaps it would be best to pay those clerics a visit first.

Perhaps you're right. Healers wing is this way.
