The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

If you ever need more, I have a... friend, in town. [ friend. pharmacist she worked and is now accidentally in love with her and casually fuels her drug habit for kisses he only dreams about. same thing. ]

That'd be great. My supply is kind of low, I hadn't got any prescriptions filled since leaving the states.

[ she gives him quick directions to her room. ] I don't sleep. Literally, so. Whenever you need anything, it's almost guaranteed I will be awake.

Why don't you sleep? Is it just insomnia, or...?

It's... so you know how your thing takes a lot out of you? Well, mine does the same. Even when I don't use it. Not being able to sleep is sort of the consequence.

[ambitionist]

[ok he's curious.] What's your thing?

[bittersweeter]

[ she drums her gloved fingers against the back of his neck. ] I give people nightmares. [ she says it like nbd because if she doesn't act like its a big deal then she won't feel so annoyed when no one else does. a++ coping. ]

[ambitionist]

[to his own credit, he continues to just be immensely curious.] Really? How does it work?

[bittersweeter]

[ she shrugs a little. ] I don't know. But I can control unconscious minds with just a little touch. Like, um, I can manipulate synapse pulses or something. No one's ever been able to explain it in under a sentence.

[ambitionist]

[he shrugs; that explanation was sufficient, apparently.] That's impressive. I'm impressed.

[bittersweeter]

[ there's that delighted smile again. damn, alex, stop it. still smiling, she slides her hand down his arm to take his hand and turns to drag him off to the bar. the novocaine dip is wearing off too fast for her to not have a drink. ] Join me for a drink, Alexander.

[ambitionist]

[can't stop won't stop gurl. he lets her drag him along, feeling a little woozy from exerting himself on her but hanging in there. (fort save 11).] It's still Alex, and I'd love to.

I like Alexander. [ she looks up at him sweetly. ] No one else calls you by your full name, do they? [ ie it would be hers. ]

Only my mother when she's pissed at me. [bluff 32; excluding a certain not-girlfriend he'll never see again. shit sucks when you have to leave the country after getting a hit put on you, he also gives that a 0/10 do not recommend.]

And now me. [ LOOK AT HER THO, SHE IS SO ADORABLE. just dwi. she hops up on a stool at the bar and orders her usual drink because she is as predictable as ever. ]

[oh good, now he can order his usual monstrosity and neurotically instruct the bartender how to pour it here, too.] You're lucky I like you so much, kiddo.

Usually. I try not to drink very much, so I like for what I do drink to ... well, be what I like.

Are you a weepy drunk?

No, but I can be kind of an asshole.

Ah. Luckily you don't know enough about me to be an asshole, so... feel free to get drunk if you so desire.

I'd rather not chance it at a party being thrown in my honor, if it's all the same.

[ she raises her glass like gatsby and shrugs, taking a long drink. ]

[ambitionist]

[he raises his glass back and joins her in taking a drink. and then, since their conversation seems to have taken a lull and he's a nosy nelly —] How'd you get the scar?

[bittersweeter]

A fight with a blender. [ she makes a face like ugh rude, but since she doesn't think it's actually rude, she continues quickly. ] My dad is the head of a crime family in New York. I joined when I was seventeen. The Bratva gets their rose tattoo over their hearts, but my dad thought something more easy to see would be best. It doesn't take much to show it off. [ especially for lila since she'd have to wear a turtleneck to cover it up and fuck that. ]
