The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Please. There's a lot of different mafias, kitten. The Dixie Mafia didn't follow any omerta other than "no snitching," and they could get damn vicious for a bunch of hicks. Worse than any Italians with fancy suits and baseball bats.

No, that's not what I mean at all. For the family themselves. My great-grandfather started our family when people like me were rounded up and put into "camps". He got his boys together and they made sure everyone was safe. [ her head tips to the side a little, studying him. he's old, it should sound familiar to him. ] Luckily America got wind of Hitler's plans and put the kibosh on the camps before he made them cool. But the families that started in those camps stuck around -- and so did the one rule. Family looks out for family.

This place? It's the same thing. We look out for our own, people that can't take care of themselves. We help people that have no other options -- and Wynn, well, he doesn't tell us how or what to do, he gives us the freedom to decide that for ourselves. But family looks out for family. [ and fuck everyone else. granted it doesn't always work (coughAMARAcough) but still. it's pretty easy to tell lila believes in that one rule, because you fuck with her family and she will walk your ass off a cliff. giggling. it's hard to fight that kind of earnestness. this child was raised in a family. she knows. ] My father owns half of New York. We keep our people safe, we keep them protected, we keep them fed and out of jail, and we keep people like me from being rounded and "registered". The Knights... protect us, and keep people like me from being rounded up and registered and blown up by a dirty bomb in Paris.

So yeah, I guess you're right. On a very basic level it's about protection. So those camps don't happen again.
