The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Yeah, but I'm not really fussed. It was supposed to be in July, so... [ so once you've been waiting for nine months and perpetually emotionally traumatized in the interim you get used to just winging it. kat would do it when kat was ready and that was fine with vi. she trusted her knight. ]

Well, that was before life got so... complicated.

Yeah, I know. I just doubt it's going to get uncomplicated any time soon.

It might. We have to hope it will.

I'm gonna let your field the hope side of things, okay? [ well. she had a good run of being happy. it was bound to dissolve. there's only so much spring can go for her. ]

[witchwoman]

You're still having them. [Not... really a question.]

Nightmares? Yeah. But, I don't know, Des says Jade imparted some wisdom on him from the other side. Gave me an address for some guy he knows in New York that is just going to miraculously help -- except he told me after we left New York so it was super helpful. [ code red sarcasm up in this bitch? she's still not over him acting like he wants to help only after jade told him to. it's not exactly heartening. ]

He must have had some reason to wait.

I'm sure. Doubt he's gonna elaborate on them.

Are the two of you fighting?

[graveflowers]

No. I'm just annoyed. Generally.

[witchwoman]

Vi... [Her face looks ready to crumple, but she holds it together.] Did you ever think that maybe it's time to let someone else fight this fight?

You, Finnick, all I've seen this mission do is to drain the life from you both.

[graveflowers]

Oh, I'm pretty sure I'm castle bound for... ever. Pretty securely not on this mission anymore. [ the problem is that even if no one in their right mind lets her frolic off in the wild on adventures and quests -- which they shouldn't because she's an awful liability -- it's not going to make it any better. ]

[witchwoman]

[She reaches over to take Vi's hand and squeeze it tightly.] You'll have to pardon me for being relieved.

[graveflowers]

You never need a pardon for feeling things, Myri. [ she squeezes myri's hand back because she really doesn't care -- and it's not apathy, it's just that she knows myri worries about her and she doesn't feel her friend should ever feel like she can't. ]

[witchwoman]

It just seems selfish but... I'm tired of watching this mission tear apart everyone I love.

[graveflowers]

[ she's just going to refrain from mentioning that the only thing tearing vi apart at the moment is... herself. that seems like it would be counter productive to soothing myri's anxiety. ]

We're home now. It'll get better. [ her eyes briefly find finnick across the room before turning her attention back to myri. they'll get better, too. ] It's just... it's not going to get better overnight. But not for lack of trying.

[witchwoman]

Home for now. Who knows how long it will be before Wynn sends all of you back out again?

Not all of us. [ POINTED GLANCE AT YOU, MYRILANDEL. ] If I sit out they're still gonna need a cleric, because wow, I'm not actually that good.

[witchwoman]

Your healing only helps people, Vi. It doesn't hurt anyone, including you.

[graveflowers]

Myri, they don't need you for your healing. They need you for you. [ she holds up her hand to cut off any protest. ] Don't say you need me, we just learned we're okay apart. You and probably Finnick may need me, but the rest of the team needs you. Elena needs you and Buffy and Spike. Mark needs you. Not even for a cleric or a healer or a witchwoman. But just for you.

[witchwoman]

I don't do anything that anyone else couldn't do.

[graveflowers]

[ girl don't. vi fixes her with a look. ] Myri. Stop. You are not nearly as replaceable as you seem to think.

[witchwoman]

I have my reasons to believe it.

[graveflowers]

Okay, what are they. [ she holds her hands out like gimme, shifting her stance because she's gonna be ready for this influx of reasons that are wrong. ]
