The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

No, he's just back at the hotel. [ she keeps watching amara for a second, because the subject change doesn't completely disengage curse feels for her. ...sylar has cassel's mother's power, maybe he could work amara the way daneca was supposed to work lila. would that make lila worse or the same as cassel? probably worse, because she knows better, she knows better and she doesn't want to do it just for amara's benefit, she wants to be able to look at the sorceress and not want to vomit or add to the delicate scars on her arms because the sheer amount of shame and self-loathing those memories heap on her.

but maybe he could just make lila not feel that way anymore...

she swallows and wrenches her eyes back to emma, trying to wrangle her focus away from her horrible memories. ] Our anniversary is on Saturday so he stayed.

[ she notices the conflict in lila's eyes - it's impossible to miss, but she doesn't push it, because it's a conversation they've already had, and emma doesn't need to go back to dwelling on how powerless she feels right now. she knew they should have waited until summer - a little patience, and they'd have had their apple. except it still would have taken two more lives, and they'd be responsible - even if not directly. it's pure selfishness that drives her to wish they'd waited, and as a result, she can't wholeheartedly say that she does wish as much. ]

[ for lila. she hates having to defend her choices. if any of them had known cassel they would immediately realize that sylar is by far the better choice. Yep. I mean, I don't know what they actually talked about, but Hook came and gave me his judgy speech. [ speech... handful of sentences... same thing. ] But then he was all do what makes you happy. It was weird.

I ... didn't realize Scotland had brought you two so close. [ weird. this is weird. this is really weird. ]

[ EMMA STOP BRINGING UP SCOTLAND. lila is going to be emotionally compromised and make bad life choices. ]

It didn't. [ lila still thinks he's in it to win it and "it" is emma's pants. and getting lila on his side is a sure fire way to do so. ] But you and I are close... [ she waves her hand as if to say, please don't make me spell it out for you. while fine with how she thinks her and hook's interactions are colored, she doesn't exactly enjoy having to verbalize that she's probably being used. and hook is a lot like a sharpe, smooth and charismatic and dangerous. sharpes used zacharovs, it's just her life. ]

What anniversary are you guys celebrating?

A year. Technically it's since we met, but we never had a specific day otherwise. [ they were always just a thing. she's very proud of this thing. ]

Wow. That's - [ she blinks her surprise back, struggling to grasp it. ] Serious.

[ another shrug. it's not really a surprise to lila, but then again, she's the one looking at it from an insider's perspective. ] Well, yeah.

I mean, I'm - I'm glad. I'm happy for you. I just hadn't realized it had been that long. [ meanwhile emma can't even like. go on a date. lila is so well-adjusted. ]

I didn't talk about it. [ oh gosh, this is weird. talking about it. probably why she chose not to bring him up almost ever. ] And, you know, we weren't friends so. [ she doesn't think emma would have cared. ]

Well. [ she grabs two glasses of champagne for them and hands one off to lila. ] As long as he's keeping you happy, I've got no complaints about the guy. [ even if he is shady as fuck. don't think this means she's stopped looking into him. ]

[ lila's expression reads of clear disbelief. ] You have no complaints? [ her eyes narrow slightly. ] Have you been possessed?

What? You obviously don't - it's your relationship, why should I complain if you're not? [ beat. she relents. ] I mean - All right, I'm not thrilled with what I saw, but ... It's not my business. I won't voice any complaints; how's that?

More normal, I think. [ she just doesn't see emma as one to hold back, it's kind of what lila appreciates most about her. ]

But just to be clear, the minute that stops, the floodgates are opening. [ which was intended to encourage her to bitch about her boyfriend when needed but really just does the opposite tbh ... ]

[ wow emma. luckily, lila takes it in stride and snorts a laugh, choking on her drink for a second, but still laughing. ] Wow. If that's not an incentive, I'm not sure I know what is.

Hey, I never said it'd be easy for me to bite my tongue, just that I'd manage it. [ because he makes lila happy, and that's emma's chief concern. so at the end of the day, she's happy (no matter what reservations she has) as long as that's the case. ]
