The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

When'd this curse first pop up? Cant've always been there, right?

It was before I was born. During my father's time.

And has he told you anything about it?

Stories. Fairy tales. [ she has a funny definition of fairy tales ] They say once, long ago, when we ruled Atlantis, one of our kind fell in love with a mortal and shared our secrets with them. He was punished, and our plight was a dying curse he levied against our kind, that drove us from our home.

[Atlantis was during her FATHER'S time?] Just how old are you?

Ancient, by a human's standards. I was born in our city, however, after we had already relocated.

And no one ever told you more than the fairy tale version? [It seems like a bloody stupid way to run things.]

[besmitten]

That's all I've ever heard.

Are they even making any efforts to break the curse there? Avoidance is clearly far from a perfect solution.

[besmitten]

Of course they are. And in all this time, they've found nothing, which only goes to show you how much of a lie it all is.

So how do you explain your whirlwind romance? Love at first sight?

[besmitten]

Don't speak of it so dismissively.

[unhand]

I’m never dismissive about love. [Perhaps scornful, back before he met Emma, but never dismissive.] But what is it you love about him? He’s good looking, sure, but what if he’s a cad? Or if he’s got unpleasant habits, you know? How do you know you’ll stay in love?

[He doesn't sound judgmental. More curious. Like he doesn't have the answers himself.]

You saw him the day we first met - brave, resourceful, heroic in every sense of the word. He's never proven himself to be anything less.

Yet. He's also a human man, love. We're not always what we appear.

I don't expect him to be perfect.

[He gives a half-hearted shrug. From his experience with David, he’s pretty close to perfect. Besides his inability to resist Amara’s charms, but he sort of doubts she’d see that as a flaw.]

So has anyone ever managed to break free of this so-called curse?

It would have to be real for them to break it.

Fine. Has anyone from your land ever broken up with a human?

[besmitten]

Sindella. She returned to our land of her own volition.

That's Zee's mother, right?

And I don't suppose she ever said anything about it.
