Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

Astrid's invitees are given seats of honor at the front of the ranks of the Dragon's Light members - a comparatively small sect, and Fred Jr., Wynn, and the incredibly stoic Sir Solace, section head of the Light, wait up at the front of the room for Astrid to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.

"Approach and kneel, Sir Madchen."

[ he raises a slightly disbelieving eyebrow because dragon's light doesn't scream party party party to him, but they were smart enough to let this one in so... MAYBE THERE IS HOPE. too many ladies tho. ]

I was almost in the Dragon's Light. [ once upon time when he was an idealistic baby. that lasted like a week. ] They can't be that bad.

Never really been big on healing people. [ or as he considers it -- wasting his spells on healing. don't fuck up and he won't have to heal you, god. :| but no, he could have conceivably fit into all five sects. freelancing made sense. ]

[and then she realizes ... SHE DOESN'T KNOW.] ... What sect are you even in?

I'm not in one, sunshine. Freelancer.

That's .... so cool. Who showed up at your party when you got knighted, then? Like, did the other freelancers or was it just people you invited?

Just people I'd invited. I don't know, it was ten years ago and I might have been high.

[snort] You showed up high to your knighting? Well, I guess it's not that bad, you basically just have to say yes a lot ...

Oh, sunshine. What makes you think I'm not high right now? [ speaking of... ] Here. This is for you. [ he fishes a small, neatly wrapped box out of his pocket, holding it out for her. he may or may not have picked out the present at the actual last second, who knows. ]

[matter-of-factly:] Your eyes. [she snatches the box, opens it, and is appropriately gleeful at the contents. BECAUSE PRESENTS.] Aw, yay!! You didn't have to get me anything! Danke! [ANOTHER HUG.]

I don't blow smoke in my own face. [ he makes an eyerolly face at her but then she is hugging him so who knows if she even sees his exasperation. ] Good to know you know the symptoms though. Should I start calling you "Doc"?

[probably not. and even if she did ... she would just ignore it tbh.] I'm not a real doctor. [DESPITE WHAT SHE KEEPS TELLING EVERYONE] ... I wouldn't stop you, though.

Nah, I'll stick to Sunshine. [ capital s now. ]

Good. I like it more anyway. Doc is like the dwarf in Snow White. [she wrinkles her nose.] Gross.

You know commonly Doc is a generic nickname for medics in the service. Generic but significant. Don't knock the nickname.

I know, but I'm still going to think of the dwarf first.

[ adorable child. NO. NO DAMN IT. :| damn wynn for bringing in all these fucking kids. (he knows astrid is an adult. she's just still... gonna be a kid.) ] Okay, go on back to your guests. They're all here for you, after all.
