The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I just want to make sure you're okay with me using the castle's resources for it. I need to find out who killed my team. [It isn't like not getting Wynn's permission will stop him from using them without consent, but at least, he is asking for it first.]

Is there a reason you think I should not be?

Not really! Who knows maybe you're the type who forbids using workplace tools for personal reasons. Also I was worried you won't let me avenge my team because of you know, the knight's code or something, but then I remembered "You shall make war against injustice without mercy." So, I guess me hunting down people won't be a problem with you. [Wis check 11, yeah he remembers the code, not the exact words, but enough to repeat them without a change in meaning.]

You intend to enact vengeance in blood, do you?

I intend to do it in the most damaging way possible. If I can make them spend the rest of their lives in regret, then that's what I'm gonna do. If not... then in blood it's gonna be. [They took the most important thing in his life, more than his life itself. And he is going to do the same to them. Take away things that matter for them and crush any remaining hope they have in them.]

You're talking about torturing them.

Torture them, curse them, or send them to rot in a dungeon. I don't really care as long as they suffer.

And this will bring your team back?

[Max sighs.] Are you saying that I should just let it slide?

[wynn]

Not at all. Justice should be enacted. I am merely uncertain 'justice' is what you are seeking.

[Max goes silent for a moment, attentively glaring at Wynn.] No, I'm not. I'm not a good guy and I won't sugarcoat my intention anymore. I'm looking for revenge. I know it won't bring my team back, but I just need to do it. I need... closure.

And how far would you be willing to go to do so?

Far. As far as I can. But you don't need to worry, I'll try not to do anything wrong on the way. I've taken your Knightly oath and I intend to keep my words as long as I can.

That's what I mean by how far. If harming an innocent person would gain you the revenge you seek, what action would you take?

I don't believe that kind of situation can happen. But if it does happen, I've warned you that I'm not a good guy. So, let's hope that kind of situation won't arise.

You asked if you can use our resources for such a quest. If you would use them to endanger the lives of those who stand between you and vengeance, my answer will change.

Then let's make a deal. I can use your resource as long as I'm still on the... righteous path. But once I have plan to stray from it, I'll tell you about it and you can decide whether to let me go or put me in a dungeon or whatever else you deem nescessary. Not a bad deal, right?

Not at all. I'll take you at your word.

Good! [Max approvingly nods.] One more thing. I just had a talk with Erky and we'd like to be on the same team. If you could arrange that, that'd be great.
