Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

Hook's invitees are given seats of honor at the front of the ranks of the Dragon's Hide members - the largest sect in the castle, with the most representatives here, and Dovan, Wynn, and Thoster wait up at the front of the room for David to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides.

Wynn finally gets things rolling, by saying in his loud listen-to-me voice: "Approach and kneel, Sir Killian Jones."

Do you swear to make war against injustice, without cessation and without mercy?

[unhand]

Aye.

[wynn]

Do you swear never to lie, and to remain faithful to your pledged word?

[unhand]

Aye. [Well... unless he's lying for a good cause.]

[wynn]

Do you swear to be generous, and to listen to and respect all?

[unhand]

[Man, these vows are not really all that piratey.

But then again, he hasn't been as piratey as he used to be for a while.]

Aye.

[wynn]

[ and the kicker: ] Do you swear to be everywhere and always the champion of the right and the good against injustice and evil?

[unhand]

[Not all that difficult, honestly. Much easier than the lying and being generous ones.]

Aye, I swear.

Sir Ironsides. [ He speaks to the dwarf without turning to look at him. ] Do you accept Sir Jones as a member of the Dragon's Hide?

[ironsides]

Do you swear to stand as the sword and shield to protect this Knighthood from harm?

[unhand]

Aye.

[ironsides]

Then by the power of my office, I grant thee the title of Full Knight of the Dragon's Hide! [ He moves to pat the back of Hook's shoulder ] Rise and take your place up here, lad.

[unhand]

[Aw, yeah. Hook hesitates a moment, then stands, looking back at the crowd with a grin. He's still half-surprised they agreed to promote him.]
