Now officially Knighted, Vi exchanges her ceremonial armor for a wedding gown, and the guests head into London to gather at the Chelsea Physic Garden.  The evening is warm and clear, and the flowers in full bloom, chairs set up on the main lawn with name tags on them for people to find their seat.  Gentle Elvish music plays everyone in, and at the front of stands an arbor covered in wisteria.  It's a remarkably peaceful setting, enough to dispel further some of the grimness of the past few days and create an atmosphere of smiles and warmth.    It seems to reinforce what Luthir has been telling Vi all along: that maybe now more than ever, this is the sort of thing they need, in order to remember what they're all fighting for.

[Archer tears his gaze away from all the couples on the dance floor.] Fuck it [That hit a nerve, Gus.] I'll be right back. [He storms toward the exit and rips his phone out.]

[ zero just snorts at gus' comment, ignoring archer's exodus ] Hmph. That's a good one.

I'd've been your date, Zero, but I'll still save you a dance.

[ zero picks up his drink, and inclines it his way. ] I've put my dancing days squarely behind me, kid.

Pity. [ no worries. gus doesn't give a shit. but these old men have been around forever and he doesn't know any of the failboat people aside from the one time he met vi in the garden after helen said she'd grow his medicinal marijuana. plus lan is his boo. ] How are you ladies, considering? [ dimitris is threatening to recreate the saga of byron ellison. considering that. ]

[ lan stirs with a gruff snort ]  Glad there's something to celebrate before we saddle up for war.  No doubt about it, that's where this is goin'.

I don't doubt that. I'm just not sure we're exactly ready. [ gus will be the first person to talk about how capable felicity is, but that doesn't mean he wants his kid sister to go to war. some of these kids are children, they haven't been here long enough to even know something happened on andres before. ] Has anyone talked to Colin about it?

Wynn's been bending his ear day and night. He knows the nobility of Andres inside and out, and we're going to be contending with their politics, war or no war.

[druidisms]

At least we have Colin on our side. [ i'm so fucking glad i remembered he was andresian. ] Feels less like constantly going in blind.

'Cept Colin ain't been on that island for years. Things change. People change. Relying on his intel won't do much for us except make us thing we know things we really don't know a damn about.

[ he glances back at wherever wynn is sitting before leaning forward slightly. ] Could we have, though? Ellison vanished without a fucking trace. [ gus only remembers this so vividly because it happened so close to his squiring, he fell into at just as chaotic a time as the newest squires, sans doppelgängers. ]

Ay, it would not have been easy. Even then.

Making armor for a nine months pregnant girl couldn't have been easy either. [ yep, just changing the subject, nbd. enough dreary shit, boys. ]
