Now officially Knighted, Vi exchanges her ceremonial armor for a wedding gown, and the guests head into London to gather at the Chelsea Physic Garden.  The evening is warm and clear, and the flowers in full bloom, chairs set up on the main lawn with name tags on them for people to find their seat.  Gentle Elvish music plays everyone in, and at the front of stands an arbor covered in wisteria.  It's a remarkably peaceful setting, enough to dispel further some of the grimness of the past few days and create an atmosphere of smiles and warmth.    It seems to reinforce what Luthir has been telling Vi all along: that maybe now more than ever, this is the sort of thing they need, in order to remember what they're all fighting for.

He does enjoy being mysterious. [Spike scowls. Des and secrets. Still bloody aggravating.] Anyone ever told him he's a mite paranoid?

It's only paranoia if he has no reason for it.

Can't say I've got a lot of faith in his judgment on what to keep secret and what to share, honestly. [Since he tends to err on the side of never telling anyone anything.]

I take it you're the sort who's an open book.

[He shrugs. Open book? Hard to say. More open than a lot of the team, at least.] I'm the sort that's figured out lying and secrets keep buggering us up more than it helps us.

[ oh hey, song's over, so zarad will free you now, spike. ] Enjoy that clear conscience of yours. Not everyone can boast as much.

Well, not remembering more than a few years of what was probably a fairly long [likely bloody] life helps with that. Lucky me.

[fornicator]

From someone with a fairly long lifespan of his own who remembers every last detail of it all, I can assure you that you might be more fortunate than you can imagine.

From what I've seen, people who do remember wish they don't and those who don't wish they did. Seems like you can't win.

[fornicator]

That's why it helps to stack the deck.

[Spike tilts his head curiously.] And how exactly can you do that?

[fornicator]

Trade secrets. A good gambler keeps the ace up his sleeve.

[bigbad]

Right. [Spike rolls his eyes.] Clearly, you two deserve each other. Do you even shag or just drop enigmatic hints from across the room?

[fornicator]

I'd invite you to come see for yourself, but something tells me Des might not be on board with it.

[bigbad]

He's not the only one. [Look, gay chicken's been fun and all but he's... not actually that interested.] That's one secret I'm all right with leaving a mystery.

[fornicator]
