Now officially Knighted, Vi exchanges her ceremonial armor for a wedding gown, and the guests head into London to gather at the Chelsea Physic Garden. The evening is warm and clear, and the flowers in full bloom, chairs set up on the main lawn with name tags on them for people to find their seat. Gentle Elvish music plays everyone in, and at the front of stands an arbor covered in wisteria. It's a remarkably peaceful setting, enough to dispel further some of the grimness of the past few days and create an atmosphere of smiles and warmth. It seems to reinforce what Luthir has been telling Vi all along: that maybe now more than ever, this is the sort of thing they need, in order to remember what they're all fighting for.

Myri. It's one thing to want everything to be over, it's another to invite a fight. [ she's not saying it like she's going to back out of attack plan wtf unicorns, she's saying it like myri, slow your roll. you don't hope he shows up with his power that almost killed rafael. you hope he stays the fuck away. ]

The fight is coming. The fight has been here. [Experiencing constant pain for the last two months will change your mind on what roll needs to be slowed.]

Could you kill him? [ she sets myri with a hard stare. ] Do you know what that feels like, killing someone? I don't mean watching someone die or being unable to heal them. Do you know what it feels like to kill someone?

That depends on what you mean. Do I have the strength or skill? Likely not. But would I, if I could? [She would. And she knows that's hard for them to hear.] i would see them bloody and buried. Blade, Chad, Dimitris. Mercy is a luxury we cannot afford now. I have never feared a man like I do Dimitris. Not even the blood priest Moncriith held such evil in his heart. And Blade seeks to cause you similar pain. Why would I not do everything in my power to stop that?

[ the problem is, violet doesn't want to kill blade. she doesn't even want to see him dead. does she want to hurt him a little for what he's doing? yes. dead? no. and not just because of what he so subtly implied the night before her wedding.

no, things like that don't have much to do with sense, do they?

with a sigh, she rubs the heel of her hand across her forehead. ] Mercy is the only luxury we can afford right now. [ she doubts myri can see that right now, not after what she went through, but vi's been living with these dreams for so long she's not sure how she'll even cope without them. she can't begrudge myri her rightful anger, but she can't let the woman think that watching dimitris die will solve all her problems, either. ] It's what makes us better then them, better than animals. I've killed people, Myri, something like that never goes away. The people of Andres deserve to have him brought to justice, but that might not include his death.

It's funny, isn't it? I never thought I could stand opposed to mercy.

[spoiler: it's not that funny]

[ she purses her lips as to not protest. myri deserves her feelings, even if vi can't validate them. ] If you say so.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to- [Her mouth snaps closed. She feels so uncomfortable talking to her friends sometimes now. She knows that she's changed. And its hard not to wonder how they feel about it.]

It's okay. Remember how I told you that Finnick was allowed to deal with his shit the way he could even if it wasn't... what anyone else might have wanted? The same applies for you, sweetie. It's going to take time, to be able to wake up and feel okay with existing. You're allowed to take that time. And I'll be here, the whole time. And we both know Finnick will be there, too. [ she reaches out to take myri's hand, looping their pinkies together. ] Remember when I made you watch the Three Musketeers? That's us. [ all for one, kiddo. ]

[Myri's pinky curls instinctively around Vi's, squeezing for a brief moment. The corners of her mouth turn up in the smallest smile.]

I don't know if I can pull off the hat. One of the new squires did put his top hat on me at the party the other night. [That doesn't actually matter. It's just distraction technique. Myri focuses on her lap for a moment, as if she's forgotten how to look anywhere. Then, without warning, she lunges towards Vi and wraps her up in a hug. Because she needs it. And she thinks Vi might too. It's mutual hug therapy.]

Thank you. For always being there.

[ whoa hugs. not that vi minds, of course! she's just startled by the suddenness of it. ] Of course, sweetie. That is what family is for. I'll always be here.

I'll hold you to that. [She tucks her chin against Vi's shoulder and takes a deep, calming breath. before she releases the hold.]

Do you want to head back in to the party? We don't have to. I just... don't want you to miss your whole reception talking to me.

...no. I want to stay here. Luthir will come find us soon, he good at that. And if you didn't rescue me from having to keep a smile on, he would have had to do it. He rescues me all the time, he deserves a twenty minute break. [ please don't make her go back and pretend to be happy. pleeeeeeease. ]

Then we'll stay and wait for him to find you.

Okay. [ a beat. ] If I don't answer the phone when you call, you're not going to come barging in on my wedding night are you? [ her smile is a little teasing. remember when that happened, myri?? good times. ] That was the first time I told him I loved him, that night.

[It takes her a moment to realize Vi is joking, but that moment of shock and confusion fades to a soft, sheepish smile.]

I wasn't planning on calling you at all, actually. But if you'd prefer we make an appearance- for old times sake? [more jokes but at least she's able to manage a little humor still.]

I'm surprised it too you that long. You're not exactly shy to speak your mind.

[ she breathes out a breath of a laugh. ] I had a little mental block about it. He's basically perfect and I am one catastrophe after another. I didn't think there was a reason to say anything. Then Jade died and I just thought fuck it, I'm already sad, if he is like what the fuck no get out, there wouldn't be much of a change.

Well, it seems to have worked out much better than that. You two are wonderful together. I'm so happy that you've found someone that can make you smile like he does, Vi.

He bought me flowers for Valentine's Day. Which was really cute. 'cause when he gave me my birthday present I told him he could have picked me a daisy and I would have been happy. So he picked me like... a hundred. [ it's the little things. she glances over her shoulder at the party, sighing softly, but not unhappily. ] I told him the day we met I was going to marry him.

Well, at least you were true to your word. I don't think I even remember what I told Finnick the first time we talked. I think I might have caught him practicing his songs for his cover. Not nearly as romantic.

I don't know if my inability to keep my mouth shut really counts as romance. Actually I'm pretty sure Luthir carried the romance in this... romance. [ 'cause vi is just a walking, talking hot mess. ]

I think you both show it in your own way. That's why it works.

[ vi is the number one finnyri shipper and no one can take her crown. ride or die for team finnyri. she will cut any bitch who tries to tear her bbs apart. except... her bbs when they're doing it to themselves, but shhh. ] But the reality is that they're probably suffering some monumental brain damage and we just struck while the getting was good. So go us.

[V's humor is still a bit beyond Myri, but they have been around each other enough for Myri to know that she's joking.]
