The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

You'll find that I've managed to tailor most of my interests into my work as well. I enjoy doing a great deal of independent scientific research, fencing, reading as widely as I can... There's little reason our hobbies can't serve simultaneously to better us as Knights.

"It suits you." She says politely, his enthusiasm a little catching. She's only been back a few days, so it's hard for her to jump in fully in the welcome wagon. All throughout their conversation, Myri finds herself glancing over her shoulder, checking for something or someone. Each time she looks, there's a little shift in her expression, part relief and part frustration with herself.

"What made you want to be a knight, John?" She has to keep herself distracted. She has to focus on him or she won't be able to stand being in this room much longer.

Do you have family here?

Yes. [she answers without hesitation.] None that I knew before the Veil brought me here but I have found my family here.

Psychoanalysis, criminal profiling, that sort of thing.

You ever work with mob cases?

Glad to hear it. Though I'm sure a few young squires have all their hopes dashed for the the news.

It's easy to forget sometimes just how young you are. None of us are happy to hear that someone has been pulled away from their family, but I can promise that I'll be my best to make the transition into this organization as smooth as possible. You'll do very well here, Lydia. I'm quite sure of that. But you're allowed to be shaken by it. This is all a big step. No one expects you to face it unfazed.

It seems to be an uncommon branch, but effectively, it's the same thing. Scholars, businessmen, we just happen to commune with nature that grants us divine abilities similar to clerics and sorcerers.

That is one of the nice things about squiring parties, a chance to keep my Armani was collecting mothballs in the closet. And... solidarity. [ it's tacked on like an afterthought bc he doesn't really give a shit. ]
