The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

That's good to hear. Pretty sure massive dragon guy shouldn't be hazing anyone- especially very breakable humans.

She flinches a little when he sets the hat on her head. It's just a little big, but not so much that it falls in her eyes or anything. It's just a touch comical the way it doesn't quite fit. Myri smiles, though- really smiles. And as she looks up at him, some of that haunted shadow in her eyes seems to vanish.

"You're very kind, John. But I don't think it quite goes with my dress."

I mean what do you do? Warlock? Thief? Diplomat?

What about you? Where do your interests lie?

[ his hand goes to it reflexively ] Uh.

No. That was... before. I used to be a hunter.

Most of them go to the same party every month. For years in a row.

[She just nods thoughtfully.] I just hope that everyone will be alright with the way I grow up. [Hi insecurity. Sup.]

"Well that's the beauty of it!" he tells her. "People aren't supposed to match, you know. Nothing else does."

Lives are mixed and complicated. Why shouldn't the things people wear be too?

His own smile beams wider as he sees hers do the same, and it warms his hearts just a little. That's what he misses, that look in peoples eyes.

No, it's- [She shakes her head.] It's not. Because this place is safe. It's home. I wasn't even here when it happened. And I don't want you to get the wrong idea about this place from the start.

[ He's smooth, certainly, and charming in a way that could easily irritate her, but she follows him to the table nonetheless.

They're not in their galaxy anymore so there's really no reason to be evasive about the Rebellion, but she is for the time being, at least. ]

The Empire has a tight grip on most of the star systems, though there's a strong rebellion against it. I think the Empire won't last much longer.

He's around here, somewhere ... [his eyes scan the room until he sees lemon with abigail. it's all ok.] Abigail has him. He's, uh, the white fluffy thing.

It won't. [His voice is a little rough as he says it. That's a whole lot further back than he'd hoped, though it doesn't much match up with how she looks. She's beautiful, of course, but she doesn't look like the teenager she'd been when they'd met. Maybe Jaina's whole theory about just losing memories up to a certain point isn't so far wrong.] We won.

Have you ever experienced anything like this?

[ She's curious about the young girl's background and experience, what's she dealt with before coming here. ]

[ She's trying to decide if he's just genuinely curious, or if there's some measure of doubt tucked within that simple question. There's a part of her that feels the need to assert herself more strongly than might always be necessary. ]

There's no reason I wouldn't be.
