The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[David is doing his usual wallflowering, looking not as nice as he could look but nice enough (disguise 9). (Contrary to what the picture would lead you to believe, he is wearing slacks, he just can't be bothered with a jacket and tie.) This is mostly because Lissa isn't here to dress him, and he's trying not to miss her.

He doesn't exactly have a lot of friends.

Needless to say, he's milling around, chatting with anyone who would chat with him, and generally being just ... the giant looming presence he usually is. Occasionally with food.]

[When Stiles decides to come back for a refill on that plate (which he probably will because he's a teenage boy), David will be there, looming, waiting ... for Stiles to move so he can get to the plates himself. He's a patient guy, so he's not exactly pushing for Stiles to get a move on but he's definitely a presence.

It's what happens when you're six feet tall and built like a tank.]

Can I get a napkin?

[David is not exactly the most social creature in the world, but he'll occasionally wander over to talk to people when the moment is right. Unfortunately, people often have to drag him onto the dance floor, so this might not be the dance partner you're looking for, but he is capable of being friendly.]

It can be a little overwhelming, at least at first.

[Kate is looking hella gorgeous because the dice love her and decided she was going to be runway model pretty today (disguise nat 20). She's also got a drink in her hand and is in the process of scanning the room to try and figure out where to mingle. She's looking for familiar faces first, more than anything else, but there are also a lot of new ones and she'd like to get to know them.

Beyond that, she will just be out there being social. Feel free to put her in your area of the ballroom, she doesn't bite.]

[Kate is trying to catch some of the new squires when she can. She remembers what it was like to be new to all of this, and so she's going to wander over and poke at some of the wallflowers.

It can be a lot to get used to - all of this.

[Kate is a pretty big fan of wine, and she has a glass of her own as she notices the Doctor making a face at his. She smirks a bit in response, before making her way closer to intercept him.]

Not your favorite vintage?

[ her nose wrinkles. you're killing her, alex. ] I wouldn't know.

[ her fingers catch her ear. she's sure she could. her father made her complicit in his crimes, so did hannibal. didn't that make her a monster? even if it is was to save her own life? what about alana? she could have, she should have said no. ] I think I can. That's what scares me.

You asked me before, if I thought being here was dumb for someone like you. When I prodded you about that, you said you thought it was beneficial to your continued well-being to be here. Is that really what you think?

You don't kiss boys?

[ she takes a moment to answer, burying her face in lemon's fur. ] Dr Bloom used to say I shouldn't isolate myself. That solitude could make it worse because I had nothing but my own thoughts to keep me company. She said talking would start to make it feel normal. So I talked in group and to Freddie and to you and I think it was better. But then I was alone for three months and I didn't have anyone to talk to and all I could think of was those girls and Marissa and Nick Boyle and I didn't want to be like them. So when I ran into the knights and they asked if I wanted to go with them I said yes because I didn't want to be alone anymore. I dont want to be what Hannibal and my dad made me. [ hastily wiping at her eyes, she sniffles. none of it is really an answer to his exact question, but it's certainly an answer. she does think it'd beneficial to her well-being, she's just not sure she deserves it. ] Dr Bloom would want me to be near people that aren't like them.

My dad was a serial killer, he wasn't big on me dating. There's not a lot of opportunity to get out when you're in a psych house for three months.

Nope. Completely jogged my mind. [Really, he's not even trying to lie now, and the smirk that touches the edges of his eyes says quite the opposite to his words. Hey, what's wrong with a bit of breaking and entry if it's in the sake of fashion, right?]

Punch?! [And if he seems shocked, it's because yes he quite possibly thought you meant as in in-the-face] Oh right the drink, yes. No I think I'm-- well, least that one isn't going to waste.

[Well the Doctor's evening just got that little bit more interesting. He can be quite the idiot on the dancefloor, in fact half the time he opts for it. But sometimes? Sometimes he can pull out the stops. He's not too bad now, matching her without difficulty with a 15.]

Do I? [he smirks, just a bit.] Well that makes a change.

[lemon cranes his little dog neck to try and lick abigail's face. what an a+ therapy dog. will puts his hand on her shoulder, not sure how dad-like she actually wants him to be in his attempt to be comforting.] I think you're right.

[Well that sounds familiar. He turns towards the voice, but nope, not a mass of blonde curls. Voice should have given that much away really. He looks down, because, well, he has to otherwise he'd be looking above her head, and that'd make for an odd sort of conversation.]

Benedic-- Oy! Wait. No. He's alright looking isn't he? Is he?

[He dusts down his cummerbund, because yes he's wearing one, just try and stop him.]

Well if you're going to make an effort, might as well go all out.

[He'd pass comment, but he's been called so much worse. He'll deal.]

Prefer my drinks a lot less disgusting. Awful stuff. There are dead animals that smell better.

[He has strong feelings on this, okay?]

I'd prefer um-bongo. [They drink it in the congo, you know.

He offers her a small smile.]

Don't suppose they've got any?

Well, you've got the time and opportunity now that you're here. [SHE'S NOT HIS REAL SISTER. he can set her free into the wild. shotgun polishing is will's job.]

[ ever so slightly, she leans into his touch. most of her focus remains on lemon though, running her fingers through his soft fur. ]

Who am I going to kiss here?

You can still talk to me. [not that he thinks it'll be very helpful for either of them, but he wants her to know that he's there. and, since they really do seem to get along well —] ... And you can borrow Lemon whenever you want.

I know. [ she means the former, but she doesn't bother to clarify. ] Thanks.
