It's been over a hundred years since mankind first came to a global realization that magic and monsters were real and walked among us. Yet in all that time, much about the process of how or why remains a mystery, and a subject of great speculation among scholars the world over.

This is why London hosts an annual convention to discuss these complicated matters, both from a scientific and social perspective. There's something for everyone with even a passing interest in understanding the Veil, magic, or the various races that share this world. Sir Jeanne Gar, a young member of the Dragon's Hoard, has been asked to present some of her research at said convention, and has invited many of the Knights to come fill the seats, and explore the other lectures.

The hall is large and brimming with scholars both young and ancient, as well as those of a variety of unusual Shadowkind species.  It makes for great people watching from the food court, at least.

It is unsurprising that our Lord God, the Father did not leave us to seek answers to these troubled times alone. [ he lays one hand on the bible on the podium in front of him ] Answers with practical application to our current situation.

With their animal-like nature, it is clear that these Shadow creatures are below us, in the celestial stratum, that they are incapable of making the sort of rational decisions that mankind has been gifted with. That they, in point of fact, require someone capable of this higher level thinking to guide them.

And what of humans from beyond the veil? Is their rightful place also subservient to humans of this world? [ she mostly talking to herself, but really, what a load of crap ]

[ crombe ignores the peanut gallery easily, but for everyone who doesn't, Abigail makes a great point - unless you fail a dc 22 will save and hear entirely different words coming out of her mouth. "My mother took in shadowkind for years. It was one she'd taken under her own roof that killed her, in her own bed." A few people murmur their horror who overhear the comment.

A good spot check will notice the mind master smirking over there. ]

[his will save is exactly 22 (which is almost disappointing bc he definitely would've known some fuckery was afoot if he failed), and his spot check is 20 total, which means he notices the mind master all like :). which ... makes him frown. wtf? abigail just schooled crombe, she shouldn't be happy about it. he catches some of the ~murmurs of horror~ and cranes his neck back to try and see where they came from. (listen 28) WHAT IS HAPPENING????? ]

[Brantley was sitting nearby and listening quietly to the preposterous propaganda. He didn't make any comment since the "lecture" was just too ridiculous. When Abigail adds fuel to the fire without any reason, he immediately knows magic is involved, and can't help but makes an angry glare at Crombie and the gang.(will 12)] Magic. We should keep our guards up.

Kat snorts at Abigail's rebuttal, but Mark looks stricken. ]

That's... I mean...that's terrible. Just terrible. But... it... it doesn't mean he's right, you know.

[ francesca got a nat 20 so fuck you mindmaster x( she also glances briefly mark's way, curiously, accepting there's probably something fishy going on (wis 15) but she's no expert in these kinds of magics.

however, the change in climate of the crowd around them does have her greatly worried. some of us here are quite obviously shadowkind, ok ]

An illustration of precisely what I'm talking about. Their flaws are, tragically, in their very nature, or in the now instinctive programming of their cultures, which they bring to our shores. Many don't remember why they are the way they are, only that they must behave this way. A particularly dangerous, and unusual state brought on by the amnesia they experience en route to our world.

While it's easy to dismiss out of hand the notion of controlling what appear to be people who walk and talk like we do, it's important to remember the distinction between what is human, and what is not. Before these species became known to us, that line was easy to discern, and we had no qualms about utilizing other species that inhabit our planet for the purposes for which God designed them. The ox was made to plow, other animals to provide food - it is not a great leap to imagine that God has granted a purpose to these creatures as well. One that will be fulfilled in service to the species created in the one God's image - our human Lord.

He wants to punch the man in the face as much as Kat wants to shoot him.] As much as I'd like you to do that, unless you want tomorrow's headline to be "Rising threat: Shadowkind kills Evangelist at shadowkind convention.", I don't think that would be wise.
