The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

No, nothin like that. I just heard someone had transferred to my sect, so I've been keeping an eye out. You look more comfortable than a squire so...

Ohh, right. [Snorting out a laugh.] Yeah I'm Frankie Matera.

[She offers her hand to shake then pauses a moment.

You shake hands right? There was awkward earlier so now I feel like I should check. [A wry grin playing at the corner of her mouth.]

I shake hands. [he says with a laugh as he holds out a hand to shake.]

Who'd you talk to before that wouldn't shake?

Sir Trinall. [Awkward with the head of The Hoard. Aw yeah.]

I mean we got there eventually but there was a good ten seconds of staring like my hand was going to attack her or something. [Delivered with a dry chuckle.]

Yeah, she does that. Don't take it personally. Pretty sure she'd still be staring at me if I'd done it right after you.

She seems nice enough anyway. [Shrugging it off.]

Oh! [Her face lights up though, Frankie reaching out to casually touch his arm.] Can you explain what she was on about with her assistant? Something about him... being bound to someone or something or...???

I think that's Phineas, maybe. He hangs around her a lot. Sort of a weird bloke. Don't really know much about him, though.

Yeah that's the name she said. It was all a bit... Cryptic? [Another shrug.] I'll figure it out soon enough I expect.

Might. Depends on how much you give a shit about that sort of thing. [He's just saying.] I figure if it doesn't apply to my projects? Not really my concern.

[She chuckles dryly.] Not a bad way to be in my experience. [So much shit went over her head back home cause she always had her head under a car.] So what kinda projects would they be anyway?

Computer stuff, mostly. [Which is probably the least impressive way to describe it.] I help out with the lab, developing new tech for the field, surveillance- that sort of thing.

Resident techie. [Bobbing her head.] I am to cars what you are to computers. [A beat.] At least when I wasn't out in the field. We kinda, do a bit of everything back home.

Assuming you've already been by the garage, then, yeah?

[A dry chuckle escapes, Frankie bobbing her head.] It's pretty much the only part of the Castle I can find without a map, yeah.

S'okay. I can find the computer lab with my eyes closed. Actually sleep walked myself there once before. Hard to explain why you're trying to fix a busted computer in your boxers at 4 in the morning.

On a positive note, at least you weren't surfing the net at 4am in your boxers?

Oh you mean every other day of my life?

[She presses her lips together, trying to hold back her amusement. Given where her head was at when she made that comment...]

Thank god for laptops and locks on doors then. [A hint of a grin.]

[Oh. He gets where she's going now. His cheeks flush a little.]

Not that I'm always- I have trouble sleeping sometimes. That's all.

Uh huh. [Dry, though her grin widens.] Don't worry - I'm just messin'.

[He nods, the embarrassment fading enough for him to give a sheepish smile.]

You're not the first to make the joke. But we actually get a lot done in the middle of the night, truthfully. Night owls and all that.
