While most missions are assigned with a few days or weeks of leeway for preparation, naturally some situations call for a much more immediate response. Such is the case on the night of this month's full moon, when Wynn is forced to call on Knights who are already out and about in London for whatever reasons, delivering their instructions via video message on Drakenet. It seems that some kind of creature has been spotted in a low-income neighborhood of London, destroyed some property, and appears to have retreated into a tenement building where screams have been heard. Wynn suspects it to be some kind of Shadow creature, and considering that it's a full moon, well--

He advises caution, but also reminds the Knights that it is their duty to investigate the matter and decide how best to proceed - not to charge in hunting something without understanding what it is or what is motivating it.

So together they gather, from whatever brought them into London tonight, in front of the rundown brick building, which is... for the moment... rather quiet.

[ he nods absently, eyes still on hellsing. ] Yeah. [ after a second he looks over at belle and nods. ] Yeah. [ lead the way, lady. ]

[ TO THE HELLSINGMOBILE. belle nods to kate to climb inside the front of the cab, and dares to be the one to open the back where cora is freaking out, because someone's gotta ride back there. ] I'm going to come in if that's alright...

[Cora's head snaps up with a snarl and the inside of the van is ... pretty trashed. Are you sure you want to do this, Belle? It probably won't be fun.

But she doesn't attack on instinct! So ... that's something.]

[ gus gives her a look like CHILD DONT EVEN. just... in case. ]

[ belle climbs in very slowly, extending one hand in front of her, palm outward ] I-it's alright. I'm here as your friend, we're going to get you away from those men. You don't have to be afraid anymore. [ diplomacy ... crit fail, wow, apparently she decides to TRY TO PET HER???????????????? a+ idea belle ]

[Thankfully for Belle, Cora is still enough of herself to not bite at her hand or maybe it's just Gus's alpha face, but there is no harm done to the industrious librarian (will save nat 20). She will snarl and jerk away from that hand though because WOW BELLE SHE IS NOT A DOG.

But she will move to the side and give them room to sit on the ... very damaged seats. Have fun with that guys.]

Lets not... pet the werewolf. [ he loves you belle, but girrrrrrrl. ] Lets head out.

[ he shuts the door behind him and belle and looks to faith. ROLL OUT, LADY. ]

[She's just been waiting for everyone to get in and all that.]

Buckle up! [Or you know... whatever, because she's gonna hit the road.

[Cora will be good for the ride, eyeing all of them as they go, but no biting. No clawing. Nothing that would draw any blood.]

Poor thing. [ belle keeps her hands to herself like a smart cookie this time. ] I can't believe they were just going to--

[ Kate gets in, with some reluctance but Cora seems to've gotten things under control despite the near-petting incident, so. ]

Does anyone want to explain who those people were?

Hellsing. They're... supernatural hunters. Vampires, werewolves, demons. Except they don't concern themselves with the concept of Shadowkind rights or the idea that supernatural creatures aren't just evil. That woman, I'm pretty sure that's the woman who runs it.

[ which is scary tbh because she's like 25 or some ridiculously young age to be running a paramilitary organization. (knowledge: local 20 total) ]

We run into them sometimes when we wind up on the trail of a vampire. They've been around for... a while.

[ She was also kind of hot. Just saying. ]

Huh. Hellsing sounds more like the title of a crappy horror movie than an ancient secret order. I take it they're not really fans of the Knights.

Considering half of what we do is protect those same supernatural creatures they're hunting from people who would harm them without cause? It might be easy to see where they wouldn't exactly be very fond of us.

Sounds kinda like the Watcher's Council on an ego trip. [She casually mentions, because she needs to be focused on the road. Her writer assumes that someone will indicate when they've driven long enough...]

What exactly... is a Watcher's Council?

A group of people who study their boring asses off reading up on every single type of demon, prophecy, or whatever else makes their tea get hot in the morning so that they might get lucky enough to get the lovely task of training a Slayer. They take the whole black and white stance on pretty much everything that goes bump in the night.

They've gotten a bit more lax in recent years, but it's not like I'm on their favorite Slayer Christmas list. [To be fair, the list would only be two people...]

Slayer? [ belle looks over at her with a frown. SHE HASNT READ ABOUT THAT ONE IN HER BOOKS. with her hot tea. ]

[Faith still focuses on the driving, but fills her in with the short version.]

A girl that gets mystically chosen then given the benefits package with super speed, strength, stamina - basically it crams us full of whatever we might need to take on vampires by ourselves. We get memories of the previous Slayers in dreams, some sort of 'What not to do' debriefing.

[She'll make a LEFT! and keep driving.]

Watchers are sent to guide us. Like a supernatural handler, but more British and by the book.

That's... nice. [ he looks over at belle like LETS NOT TELL HELLSING SHE EXISTS, 'KAY? 'cause he doesn't trust anyone but wynn to not use people like weapons and faith sounds like she could be exactly that. ] That's why you can punch people asleep, I like it.

That's part of the whole Slayer package, yeah.

[DO THEY ARRIVE? POSSIBLY?]

[ LMAO WELL ITS AN HOUR DRIVE so we can... fast forward if y'all want ]

I'm just grateful so many of us were close by.

[IT'S COO. I just didn't know... how to estimate that.]

She alright back there?

[The sun's coming up soon. It has to be because she can feel the exhaustion after the adrenaline coming on. The wolf isn't fighting her as much to stay prominent, and her body is giving in to the need to rest after being up all night, so while she is fine, safe, and breathing normally, she's also pretty close to passed out, as well as looking like a normal girl again.

Sans claws. Those are still in the process of retracting slowly.

Don't mind her, she's just going to take a nap.]

[She doesn't hear anything, but she figures that is good news. She'll just keep driving...

If no one has any other questions about Slayers, then the rest of the 40 minute drive can go pretty quietly. Faith makes a few quips here and there, but it's mostly about the other drivers.]
