While most missions are assigned with a few days or weeks of leeway for preparation, naturally some situations call for a much more immediate response.  Such is the case on the night of this month's full moon, when Wynn is forced to call on Knights who are already out and about in London for whatever reasons, delivering their instructions via video message on Drakenet.    It seems that some kind of creature has been spotted in a low-income neighborhood of London, destroyed some property, and appears to have retreated into a tenement building where screams have been heard.  Wynn suspects it to be some kind of Shadow creature, and considering that it's a full moon, well--  

He advises caution, but also reminds the Knights that it is their duty to investigate the matter and decide how best to proceed - not to charge in hunting something without understanding what it is or what is motivating it.  

So together they gather, from whatever brought them into London tonight, in front of the rundown brick building, which is... for the moment... rather quiet.

[ wow gus is so annoyed when he shows up, sans bear. he wasn't that far away but is still adjusting his disheveled clothes as he peers at the building. this mission interrupted his boner. well... his second boner. okay, maybe it just interrupted round two, but ukw, that's equally important as round one. what a waste. ]

Hands in the air if you've dealt with a werewolf before. [ wynn may not have said it, doesn't mean gus won't. ITS A FULL MOON.

his hand, by the way, does not go up. first time for everything, even for a ten year veteran knight. ]

[Faith has needed to get out of the castle. Her run in with Buffy went about as great as an explosion in a hardware shop. Even if the castle is big, Faith doesn't want to run the risk of bumping into her and having any guilt over that first conversation. She's run it through her mind a few times since then and is pretty much of the mind that it's her fault. She could've done things a dozen different times and the more she thinks about it the more she feels like it's best if they just keep their distance. Bars get boring though, so she's glad for the sudden distraction.

At the mention of werewolves, Faith lifts her hand. She's not really sure if he was serious or not.]

I knew one. Oz. Kinda quiet. Decent guy, though.

[ belle hardly seems like the type to have been out enjoying london nightlife, so it might be somewhat surprising when she showed up. either way, she glances from the building to faith, not one of those raising her hand either. ]

Wynn didn't mention anyone getting injured yet - let alone killed.

It might just be disoriented at this point. [ he smiles slightly at faith raising her hand, but there is an undertone of being impressed. first name basis with a werewolf, that's cool as hell. gus isn't going to front. ] But since we're going on the assumption that it is, in fact, a werewolf... [ he reaches forward to touch belle on the shoulder, lifting his eyebrows to see if he is allowed to do the same to faith since he doesn't know her as well as the castle's badass librarian. or, you know, at all. ] I have a spell that can make us untrackable. Even by scent. Very, very small element of surprise.

[ so he is just going to cast pass without trace on himself, belle and faith. (again, only if she lets him.) ]

[ Kate shows up without Starbucks but with a quiver on her hip and bow across her back, and dressed all in black like either she was maybe already crawling around rooftops tonight when this call came or was just at a goth bar and has washed her face. ] So we're all having the probable werewolf thought? Cool. It sounds like we'll probably want to find a way to contain it and try to talk it down or something is the sense I got from Wynn's message. If we could get it onto the roof or into the basement we might be able to pin it down.

If we corner it, we'll have to be prepared for them to lash out. We might need some way to restrain them until they're capable of listening to reason.

[ a spot check of 20+ from anyone catches the front end of what looks like a military type vehicle, parked just around the corner under a "no parking" sign, as if it's owner either didn't care or didn't want to take the time to find a spot. Belle fails to notice it. ]

[ With a 17 Kate is too busy considering the containment issue to notice. ] I don't suppose anyone has tranquilizers? Or some sort of equivalent magic? I haven't gotten custom arrows in yet unfortunately.

[Faith watches the eyebrow lift, but doesn't reply just yet. She's mostly trying to figure out what the best approach could be.]

I don't know if... I mean, I get the element of surprise, but shit - if it relies on its senses as much as I think it does, catching it that off guard might cause more problems. [Faith is prepared to be the bait, though, if it comes to that.]

You can go all stealth mode; I'm comfortable letting it know I'm coming. [Though she does like the suggestion of tranquilizers.]

Tranqs sound like a smart option, though. It's easier than trying to just wear it out. Easier than waiting for the sharp end of an argument about being cornered too.

[ gus digs around in his pocket like hey maybe... but he only has a joint and a tiny baggie of contraband pharmaceuticals not appropriate for a thing of indeterminate species so that's not helpful. he has special k, but the werewolf probably likes cheerios more. he shrugs his shoulders, rolling his neck to crack the kinks out of it. he is really going to regret not getting that guy's number (or name for that matter, whoops) once this is done.

his attention is grabbed, however, by the military vehicle chilling there like "fuck you, sign, i do what i want". (spot 20 total) he doesn't know if it'll work as containment, but it strikes him as odd. this is low-rent council housing, why do they need a military presence?

unless the knights aren't the only ones called in.

what the fuck, wynn. why do you keep doing this to him? was kansas not enough?

REGARDLESS TO HOW MUCH HE IS ENJOYING WYNN'S COCKBLOCKING... ] We might not be the only ones here looking for it. [ he points out the vehicle. ] I've never known the Royal Marines to go door to door.

[ he looks back up at the building, eyes narrowing. ] Plan is: we're winging it. Take down the animal, contain it... somehow until sun up -- if it is a werewolf -- otherwise, knock it the fuck out and take it home. Everybody okay with that? [ a beat before he adds, so reluctantly: ] I can shift into wolf form, so please refrain from shooting or hitting me.

[ belle looks towards where gus is pointing, taking note of the vehicle as well, and turning with a frown to the rest of them. ] If someone else is looking for it, they might not be as willing to wait and hear it out. I don't think we have the time to drop by our headquarters in the city here for tranquilizers. We'll have to... go with whatever we have. [ yaaay ] Do we think it's wiser to split up or stay together?

[Faith has some personal issues with suspicious vehicles that could be owned by people who think they know better. Get kidnapped once by British guys... fool me once. She doesn't really want to wait around to see who owns it, she just wants to get to the "animal" and go from there. Of course, hearing that Gus can shift could give them an advantage.]

In your wolf form can you track better? 'Cuz I'm thinking we might need every advantage we can get. [That would also solve their splitting up question, too. They'd follow the wolf.]

Yeah. [ he's a pretty good tracker without his wild shape, but... better with it. ] I won't be able to talk, so hopefully you guys can follow canine clues. Gimme a second.

[ he backs away from their little huddle and idk magic happens. stuff. things. oogily boogily. SUDDENLY HE IS A WOLF. a really cute, korean wolf. who doesn't have a human face and still manages to look very disgruntled. gus is too prissy for this shit. he growls in annoyance before he gets all up in their grills to sniff them so he can separate scents. ]

[Faith is impressed by the shift and resists making any sort of smirky face. Nope, she's just hoping that little spell he cast on the other girl doesn't change whatever she smells like... that'd be bad. Faith is glad she didn't sign on for extra magic shit.]

[ PUPPY!! i mean hi gus. she holds out her hand to him to smell. ] I'm certain this goes without saying, but just in case: if it is a werewolf, take special care not to let it bite you.

[ Kate is not exactly thrilled with this plan and she doesn't bother to hide it, the skeptical arch of a brow saying what her silence doesn't. She's definitely taking the tranq issue up with someone later, too. But instead of rolling her eyes she peers at the other vehicle once it's been pointed out, and then up at the building they're headed into. Gus's shifting she takes in stride, getting a good look at him for future reference more than curiosity. ]

Are we splitting up to cover the building faster, or going in together?

[ meanwhile, cora-wolf has found herself in the cellar, amid a bunch of pipes and shit, trying to chill her werewolf tits or whatever.

DO A LISTEN CHECK. ]

[Cora managed to maintain enough of her humanity to decide to take her anger out on some pipes? Or maybe she chased a cat down there. Who knows, she's just riding high on the rush of the moon, glad that the wave and jitters that have been sitting under her skin for so long has finally released and she's just letting it go for as long as she needs to.

She's currently snarling at the room, trying to look for something, some warm body to tear into or something to fight already when she catches the sound of something moving (listen 27) and whips her head towards the sound, eyes scanning for what's coming her way.

Maybe it's something to hunt. If it is, it's their mistake.]

[ her listen check means that despite their expert sneaking, she can hear two sets of footsteps coming down the steps from above, moving slowly, as if trying not to be noticed. ]

[Yep. Definitely something to hunt. She can hear the footsteps and the wolf in her welcomes the fight. She moves towards them slowly, creeping forward on quiet feet (move silently 23) and trying to find a nice shadow to hide herself in until her prey appeared (hide 11).]

[ she hears one male voice, english-accented say in hushed tones: ] You're sure it went down here?

[ the other man shushes him and around the corner come two men in what looks like green paramilitary gear, black tactical vests, and red berets with a patch on them. both of them carry large rifles. neither seems to see her. ]

[impetere]

[She lies in wait for now, biding her time. Despite the fact that she's all predator right now, she's still a very smart girl underneath all that wolf, and she's willing to wait for when she has the upper hand and the element of surprise (will save 21).

But aside from the rifles this looks very promising.]

[ they move slowly through the basement, training the guns left and right slowly, finally moving closer to her hiding place. one of them freezes, bringing the gun around to bear in her direction. ] Who's there? I see you, you can come on out!

[impetere]

[Oh. Well. That settles that.

The animal in her snarls sensing the challenge in the gun. She bears down and charging forward, claws out (attack 7). She's still all rage so she's not putting much thought into the attack, just wanting something to tear into, hard.]

[behindcloseddoors]

[ both of them shout as they step backwards away from her, firing blindly (atk 13 and 19; 9 dmg) and managing to strike her. ] Get back! She's wild!

[That bullet only makes her mad. She turns towards the closest one to her and giving a growl that's more anger than actual pain and charges again, this time managing to catch him with her claws (attack 16, damage 7).]
