The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

A little bit. [ she shrugs with a brief smile, showing she knows kate is teasing. ] If I go out through this door, I can get to Will's room in less than a minute.

[She smirks a bit at that.]

Impressive. Hopefully no one will be blocking your way out.

I'll just cry if they do. People can't handle crying. [ idk maybe that's just alex. ]

[She considers that before nodding in agreement.]

Solid tactic - at least as long as they're male.

[ she shrugs, acknowledging that. ] Maybe I should take up running, just in case. [ lol like she doesn't already. ]

They do. Mostly after suspects.

[A beat.]

Or at least that's how they make it seem on TV.

I don't know if Will did much running. [ she was unconscious a lot? ] Maybe the running declines in the FBI.

[She shrugs.]

FBI only takes bigger cases, I think, so that would make sense.

He's a profiler, anyway. [ all she remembers of will in the field is purposeful walking. and then shooting her dad. a+ memories, thanks veil. ]

[Good job, Veil.]

That's a hard job - having to get inside a killer's heads all the time.

[ she nods. ] Will's good at it. I'm not sure he likes it much, but I suppose all the people he saved made it worth it. I guess that why people become cops, don't you think?

[She nods.]

Definitely. Or maybe because something's happened to them, and they don't want to see it happen to someone else.

Probably the same reason a lot of people come here.

[She nods a big in agreement.]

I think a lot of people here just want to be in a place where they can do the most good. Whether it's because they're looking to atone for something, or because it's doing something. They can make change, instead of waiting for it.

[ that sounds like idealist bullshit. but abigail nods because she can also she the logic behind it, helping the helpless, making up for your shitty past. she gets it. ] Makes sense.

[Yeah, well, Kate can be a bit of an idealist sometimes. Not all the time, but she needs to believe in something. Back home it was her badge, but she doesn't really remember that anymore. Here, it's the Knights.]

People join organizations like this because it's what they need, one way or another.

I guess people need us, too.

[She nods.]

They do. Even if they might not want to admit it, or not realize it.

[ abigail will probably understand that part better once she's actually been on a mission, for now she just nods, accepting kate knows more than her. ]

[It's such a shame that her first mission is going to be Andres, but that's when she's going to need that trust more than anything.]

You'll figure it out. This place isn't always for everyone - if you figure that out, that's okay too.
