The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

"Hey," Kate responds, and while a little redundant it comes with a winning smile, crooked as she looks back over her shoulder at him and edged with amusement at his obvious reluctance. "I promise I'm not going to try to make you tango or something," she reassures, turning once they're in the crowd to set her other hand on his shoulder and give him a second to find her back. She makes a not-so-wild guess at his skill level and elects to lead, a simple 1-2-3 across the floor.

"So, you're one of the new squires this month? How'd they find you?"

Despite the fact that he doesn't have any real experience, Derek manages to follow along without stumbling (Dex check: 19), one hand at her back and his feet moving fluidly across the floor, taking the lead. The overall effect is that he knows what he's doing. (Perform (Dance): 22)

"I guess you could say I found them," Derek admits, though he still doesn't really know if that's true. But he'd come to the castle because he wanted to be here, sworn in for the same reason. "I'm not usually a joiner, but Wynn's ideas speak to me. And what else do I have?" He shrugs a little, looking past her to the other dancers, the question obviously rhetorical.

Kate's a little surprised, but doesn't seem to mind giving up the lead when he takes it. She adjusts quickly, naturally light on her feet, (Dex: 21) and follows him around the floor with the ease of someone who's done this plenty of times before, if maybe not recently. (Perform (Dance): 19)

She watches Derek as he answers, out the corner of her eye as he looks past her. "Into saving the world?" she smiles, "It's surprising how many people around here don't actually seem to be interested in that sort of thing. I guess Wynn must get them to come around eventually. So what's your specialty? Brains, brawn, magic?" She's assuming he's muscle for obvious reasons, but it seems polite to ask.
