The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I was actually in the middle of tracking when I arrived here. I was walking out of the woods one moment and then in the middle of France the next.

A jarring experience, to say the least. Just what was it you were tracking?

[If it had been earlier, Allison would have lied, but she's already realized how open everyone is about the truth and it's odd, but something she's adjusting to.]

Two werewolves. It was a contain situation at the time.

Really? And you were tracking them all on your own?

[She can't hide the grin of pride that falls to her features. She looks away, briefly, trying to shake off the feeling. She knows that she's been trained for that and she still makes mistakes.]

Yeah. My dad trained me, but we both promised to leave the werewolves to their own business. I just... I couldn't.

Why not? Did something happen? [A young girl choosing to run back into danger was certainly not all that common.]

[The pride that had been there moments ago falls from her features quickly.]

I just needed to help. [Allison isn't sure she wants to just dive into the guilt she feels over Erica and Boyd being taken. She doesn't want to talk about her mother's death, about her grandfather and his vision for the family... she just doesn't know Helen enough for that.]

It was something I felt I needed to do.

Well, you'll certainly fit right in around here with that attitude. [Helen's practically glowing with how pleased she is to hear that. She reaches out and gives Allison's shoulder a squeeze.]

I'm sure you'll find plenty of use for those skills, but more than that, you'll find yourself in good company of those who want to help.

[Allison refocuses on the conversation, trying not to think back to the path the past few months had taken for her. She nods as she looks to Helen again.]

Who have they squired you to, dear?

[She knows quite a few of the knights. She's kind of nosy oops.]

Sir Miles Cuivre. I haven't met him, yet.

I've only seen him in passing. But I'm sure you'll be well suited for one another. Wynn has a way of knowing these things.

How does he know that? I mean, some of us are from different worlds? Does he have some sort of book that tells him?

[daredtobelieve]

Not that I know of. He just has a good sense about people, sees their potential. He's been doing this for a very long time bothered something to be said for experience.

[Allison completely understands what Helen is saying, because thankfully autocorrect doesn't happen when people talk.]

It definitely sounds like it. Do you have a squire?

I do. First I've had in some time. Lydia Martin. She's around your age, actually.

[Allison doesn't hide the smile that reaches her features.]

Lydia's my best friend.

Is she? [Helen seems to perk at that.] Brilliant girl.

She is. [She pauses to clarify.] -- brilliant and my best friend.

Well, I'm glad you two will have each other here. It can be quite an adjustment. A friendly face does wonders to help with that.

I'm glad I have her here too. It felt selfish at first, but I think I'm over that feeling.

[daredtobelieve]

I'm glad to hear it. It's not as if you had any control over it. And finding comfort in a friend is never something to be ashamed of.

It's just nice to have something feel... normal in the middle of everything.
