Ceding to the demands of psychotic despots isn't exactly something the Knights prefer to do.

Perhaps this is why Wynn has taken his sweet time in arranging the group that Dimitris Sarandis has insisted on speaking with, the 'only ones' to whom he has agreed to deliver his demands for the safe and secure return of Dragon's Claw Sir Thomas Bancroft.  The meeting is finally scheduled, and as promised, Rafael has flown in from America to participate, picked up by Des en route to the castle.  Kat, Myri, Buffy, Finnick, Archer, and Spike had one of Myri's 'family failboat dinners' together, and as such, have wandered out of the dining room together in the direction of the lobby after Buffy received a text from Rafael that they were there.  Raf and Des are just pushing open the doors as they make their way across the tiled floor.

[ Buffy pushes past Des to get a look and ... abruptly stops, heel-turning and holding her hands up. ]

Oh. God. That's— [ TRYING TO BE POLITE HERE but blinking very hard and not sure what to even say. She's happy for them ok it's just awkward to be clamjamming Gar. ]

[Yeah, Spike has... no problem with this. He raises his eyebrows, though, cause this was really not the greatest time.]

Oh, don't let us stop you. It's not like we've got anything important on the docket.

[ kat looks as if she were deeply betrayed by her fellow member of the sisterhood of the no-one-gets-in-our-pants club here, so excuse her while she just looks comically scandalized. ] Holy shit.

[ raf elbows des, with a grin of his own, because he doesn't even probably understand why this is potentially a bad thing in anybody's eyes, period. ] Perhaps we should leave them be for now, si?

[ dumage's eyebrows shoot up as she stares, looking almost a little bit impressed, but she finally drags her eyes away to take in wynn's reaction to all this ]

[myri apparently thinks of gar like des thinks of her and so this scene is...jarring.]

Oh... We should- [They should go. They should at least stop staring. But she's frozen in place. Oh dear.]

[ it's more than clear that this is the last thing in ten thousand years that wynn ever expected to walk in on.

people have had the pleasure of seeing wynn angry lately thanks to doppelgate, but seeing him so completely shocked is another thing. but the shock changes quickly into a clenched jaw, simmering rage beneath his words as he says in the commanding tones known to make every member of the knighthood jump: ] All of you, to the Round Table room. Now.

[ he casts a single look over his shoulder at the rest of the group behind them that brooks no argument whatsoever. there's something terrifying in his eyes, something far beyond his usual implacable calm, and when he cuts that stare back to jack and gar, the latter looks down at the floor, as if she can't stand to hold his gaze. ] Both of you as well.

[isisagent]

[Archer can't help himself. In spite of Wynn, he starts laughing out loud, and clapping.]

Oh wow. That is just... wow. Hey just remember kids; don't be a fool, wrap your tool!

[Archer's laughing dies off in a giggle, as he wipes a tear away;] Oh... man... Just kidding. Fuck condoms.

[And with a smug look on his face, begins stomping off to the round table room.]

[Wow. Wynn's really pissed. That's a new one.

A wisdom check of 15+ will catch that Des looks strangely put out by his anger rather than being intimidated by it, like he takes his rage as a personal affront. In fact as soon as Wynn turns to go, he's glowering at his back and lingering in the doorway while everyone else starts to head out, waiting for Jack and Gar to sort themselves out and follow as well.

[ wynn turns to go without another word, and rafael casts a look before over his shoulder, before following. dumage smirks to herself, looking satisfied and entertained by the whole situation, moving to go as well, but kat lingers back as gar adjusts her buttons without looking at anyone, finally heading towards the door ahead of jack, who is taking a moment to reknot his tie with minimal success. his hands seem to be shaking a bit, and as gar ducks out, kat moves to her side, saying in a low voice: ] You should have told me to cover for you. I would have kept him out of here.

[rationalizes]

[ gar glances behind her just to make certain jack isn't going to see this, concern in her eyes as she watches him for a moment, before she says very quietly: It-- it wasn't something we had planned for.

[slay]

Truthfully? I think you had good timing.

[ Buffy is also lingering once everyone starts shuffling. Kat and Gar are her people, ok. ]

I mean, he's got Sarandis to project the scary dragon rage towards, and that's kind of more important than dealing with ... uh. This.

[ At least she bit back a congrats gurl. ]

[rationalizes]

I'm not worried about him directing it at-- at me.

He oughta leave the poor bastard alone. [he is still scowling.] Enough shit has happened that his fucking protocols ain't worth a dime. Sooner he realizes that, the better off he'll be.

[dragonsclaw]

[ jack exits at that moment, so he gets to hear... probably all of that. he glances at des with an inscrutable expression, before heading after them all without a word. ]

[ Buffy's eyes follow Jack, then she looks back at Des, Kat, and Gar. She shrugs. ]

Man's got a point.

[ With that, she turns to follow towards the round table room. ]

[romanticidal]

[ raf leans closer to Buffy as they walk to ask:] What protocols does he mean by this?

[nothingsodivine]

[Des shoves his hands into the pockets of his jacket and since he's close by, he answers for Buffy, heading in the direction of the round table room.] Dragon's Claws aren't supposed to get involved.

[He sounds faintly disgusted and spares a glance at Gar, his anger dissipating into sympathy.] But you can't help what you feel. It's one thing if you can hack the monk life, but he's asking people to reject their feelings if it comes up.

[rationalizes]

[ gar squeezes her eyes shut, and mumbles a strained enteaty: ] Des, please.

[slay]

It's not just relationships, either. It's everything. They're supposed to be impartial—like no one knight is closer to them than others. The way Wynn is.

[ she shakes her head. ]

And then they go out all the time, risking their lives on the most dangerous missions—I mean look at where Thomas is right now. Why wouldn't Jack be sick of living one that's not even much of a life at all?

[ Because a life without love is just sad and bleak and Buffy doesn't want it. She thrives on her connections to other people, even if she sucks at it a lot and isolates by choice to a certain degree. ]

[But after that, he goes silently grim for Gar's sake.]

[ Rafael looks viscerally upset by this philosophy, but notes how uncomfortable gar is looking and bites his tongue from saying more on the matter right now, at least.

Fred Jr is leaning against the wall beside the large mural and straightens up when he sees Wynn leading the others. His easy smile melts into concern when he notes the look on his ancestor's face, as Wynn moves to open the secret passage without a word. ] ... Did something happen...?

[witchwoman]

[Myri doesn't really know Fred, but she already feels bad for him coming in to the middle of... this.]

You could say that. [She keeps her voice small, trying to offer him an apologetic smile.]

Forbidden love, secret trysts... [He looks back over his shoulder at Gar and Jack.] But on the bright side, no one's been murdered or tortured or ran off with the enemy in the past hour. So really, could be a lot worse. [Talking to you, Wynn.]
