The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[With his disguise check of 15, Drax has found an excellent pair of pants that aren't entirely utilitarian. His boots are probably pretty shiny. His chest... still has no shirt on it. But the swirling red tattoos look great against his green skin! He looks awkward and out of place as he wanders around the party. He does not mingle. He DESTROYS!

But with Ronan dead, it's not like he has any target for his destruction. So he can... try to make nice.]

Do you know what shirts are?

[ look, it is a fair question and maybe no one has thought to ask and he's really wanted to talk about it but no one had asked the right question before. she is asking the right questions. ]

[He's not stupid, okay. He has seen plenty of shirts in his time. He just doesn't see the relevance of the question. Still, he takes the cup with a nod of thanks.]

I only ask because there are a lot of establishments that have strict "no shirt, no shoes, no service" policies.

That is a foolish policy. Are garments a form of currency on this planet?

No, it's based on society views of indecency.

It's a very nice chest. It's a sexist society view of indecency. They don't want women to be shirtless, so men aren't allowed to be either. Humans are strange.

I have no objections to women being shirtless.

[ Huh. Still shirtless. Henry remembers him from the squiring ceremony, of course - this dude stands out - though he'd thought the guy would at least put on a shirt for an occasion like this. Apparently not. At least looking pretty together, Henry approaches nonetheless, eyes slightly narrowed in amusement. ]

Just...out of curiosity: are shirts not really a thing where you come from?

[ He's real casual about it, not wanting to offend, but uh, this is weird. Maybe the guy needs some guidance. ]

I mean, I guess that's a lifestyle choice [ is it though? ], and I respect it. But. This is the sort of celebration where you should have some sort of shirt. Even a t-shirt would probably be better than nothing.

[ Alisha saw him at the squiring and thought he was a bit weird then. That really hasn't changed. So when she approaches there's very little preamble. Sorry Drax. ]

No. It is not a dress at all.

[He's not sure what she's... even referring to, but he's not wearing a dress.]

[ she looks at him like gdi he's so stupid for not keeping up with her, really how could anybody not know what she's talking about? ]

[He looks kind of mystified at the question. Break it down for him. Just keep it straight-forward.]
