The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Year and a half. So far I've only see a few people on horses. The whole Braveheart thing doesn't happen much. Especially since most people seem to appreciate the ease of guns here.

[ a beat. ] I mean some people are batshit and carry broadswords around like Mel Gibson is around the corner being racist and casting for Braveheart II. But they're the same ones that wear armor on the daily, you can hear them coming. [ and go in the other direction. ]

Probably not the sort of people that hang out at the parties, yeah?

[ the sort of people that play dress up for a living don't ever seem to do very well at parties. or maybe she just never used to pay attention to them. ]

So what do you do around here? Do we get like... jobs or something?

[ sorry lila, you're just her information point now. ]

Not really. We have to do desk duty, which is a pain in the ass of hanging up on people for eight hours, but once you get knighted you can do whatever. You just... train, however you and your mentor want. [ she shrugs absently like whatever. her training is basically just reaching herself magic now because why would she ask for help when she can obviously do it on her own? ]

[arrested]

Mentor, right. [ yeah she sounds so fucking excited about that idea. Sounds a bit too close to probation officer to her, but hey hopefully they won't end up dead this time. Still, odds aren't great. ]

So we do what then, just sort of hang around?

Yup. Teach yourself shit. Magic is a thing here so have fun with that. [ and to punctuate her point, she squints at a darkened corner on other side of the ballroom, murmuring under her breath, casting silent image. suddenly slenderman. she nods toward the corner so alisha will see him. standing there. dramatically. ominously. being slenderman. as he do. ]

[ Magic, powers, all different words for the same shit, so that's not too surprising. But holy fuck what is that? She steps back a little, looking over towards the nasty ass thing in the corner. ]

Did you do that?!

Still doing that, so calm your tits. [ although she's doing fine concentrating on it though, nightmares are just really easy for her okay. (concentration 18) ]

Well how about you stop it because it's really fucking creepy.

[ she has to watch the shit out of that thing in case it leaps out or does something else hideous. ]

It's fake, relax. It's just an image. [ slenderman seems to take a deep, shuddering breath even as she says this, looming menacingly. and she is not stopping yet. (concentration 16) because she a a horrid bitch. ] But yeah, it's magic or whatever. Not what I can normally do... but... actually pretty similar to what I can normally do.

[ but SLENDERMAN'S TWO MINUTE APPEARANCE is over as lila wrenches her concentration away and the figure vanishes, leaving the dark corner just a dark corner again. hopefully she made someone cry. or gave them nightmares. she turns to alisha and makes a face. she's part of a knighthood, how did you get normal from that?? ] I'm just really, really good at what I can do.

[ lila doesn't seem to mind being caught because it's not really an important thing to be caught on. and sometimes if she tries really, really hard she can read minds, but she's not good at that spell since it involves... giving a shit what other people think.

BUT... nathan worded it almost exactly like that (he said girlfriend instead of friend) and while lila doesn't... quite make the connection, she looks at alisha with a new curiosity. (wis 14) ] Can you do anything?

Mm, sort of both. I don't remember, only that I was really young. But it was always a possibility, for anyone where I'm from. It's part of our brain chemistry. My dad can make people lucky or unlucky, I give people nightmares.

Its not that bad. [ she enjoys it tremendously. luck work is simpler, but shes attached to her dream work. ]
