The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I couldn't tell you. I still haven't heard from or seen him.

[Sam's smile is knowing, because yeah telling him that news probably won't go well, but neither will him being here in the first place probably be anyway.]

You could always call him, you know. That's usually how news works.

Find me someone who has his number and maybe I will. I'm pretty sure the only people who do are with him on the road right now.

[Yeah that's...the only excuse I got for that.]

I don't think that's the best way to handle this, though. It's a little more complicated than just telling him I'm here.

I came from through the Veil a few months ago, right? Well, Dean is from here, or so they say.

That doesn't make any sense. How can siblings who grew up together be born on opposite sides of the Veil?

Apparently 'alternate dimensions' are a thing. It's possible there's another version of me walking around out there.

Obviously. You're in an alternate dimension. What you're talking about is more like a parallel reality, if it allows the existence of multiple versions of the same individual. I wonder what would happen if you met the other you.

There's lots of names for it. Parralel universe, alternate reality, multi-verses. Either way, there haven't been too many cases of, well, something like me. That's assuming there is another version of me. I'm not too clear on that part, yet.

For all I know, Dean's just been telling people that's he's from here. It could be a cover.

What's the point of doing that? Humans from across the Veil aren't exactly receiving the worst of the Shadowkind racism.

That doesn't mean there isn't any. Sometimes, on a job, you need all the help you can get.

Well, I doubt Wynn's done using him to hunt the doppelganger. You'll likely get the chance to ask him yourself.

True enough. I'd hunt him down myself if I thought I could manage it, but he's probably hopping all over the place chasing these guys.

Do I know how hard it is to wait to find out if my brother is my brother or his evil twin from a parallel universe? [ Her eyebrows raise. ] No. But If i had to guess, I'd say distracting yourself might help.

[ She sets her cup aside on a handy table, then holds a hand out to him, expectant. ]

[He manages a smile at her joke(?) but its bitter around the edges.]

I guess you have a point there.

[His eyebrows raise because lol again, bad at these kinds of situations (wis 7)]

[ duh. ]

I'm suggesting you ask me to.

Oh. Right.

[Awkward brief moment of silence.]

[How old is she even. Is this legal? Dean would be so disappointed in him right now.]

More than I want to keep talking about your brother.

[ With a tight-lipped smile that still manages to be saccharine, she takes his hand, lifting it above her head as she turns to lead him out to the floor without missing a beat. ]

[He opens his mouth to apologize but closes it a moment later as she leads him away.

Oookay.

This is probably going to be disappointing for you, Lydia. (Perform Dance 8)]

[ he's so lucky she got a hella will save or she would have just bounced (will 23). as it stands, lydia schools herself in patience and tries to teach his broke ass how to dance passably. his complete lack of skill does not rub off on her, at least (dance 26). which, sadly, only makes his white boy dancing more apparent. ]

Dancing at a fancy party in a huge ballroom? Yeah, you could say I'm a little nervous.

[He's a flannel kind of guy. This is totally out of his element.]

[ Leaning in, Lydia appears entirely unsympathetic. ]

I didn't think dancing was going to be one of the required skills of the position.

[But he'll try to...copy those around him, watching the other guys on the floor while trying to adjust. It doesn't really help (dance 9)]

I prefer to think of it as a required life skill. [ At least he's passable now. Her tension appears to ease at that. ]
