[ It seems that Wynn was hoping for Sir Mark Sandazhard to reveal his true identity, and to lead the charge against Dimitris Sarandis' tyrannical hold over the island he was born to rule.   He was not disappointed, and Prince Marcus Andres stands poised to lead the group of Knights who he's worked beside for two years, to confront Sarandis, save their friend Kat, and search the castle dungeon for the captive Dragon's Claw, Sir Thomas Bancroft.    

Before they attempt to answer the castle, however, it's time to reunite the Prince with his childhood friends on the Isle, who had long held out hope that he was still alive, including his once-betrothed, Countess Lara Tamon.  Their first task will be to convince Lara to make a risky attempt to draw Kat out of the castle.  

The fate of their captured allies, and the future of Andres Isle, lie in their hands.  ]

[That's all he can manage, he's just staring and terrified and yep this is his turn.]

It's the impalement that does it—this has only happened so many times. As the arm spike drives through her, Buffy lurches forward, choking on the blood that rises in the back of her mouth. Her eyes widen as she looks down at her abdomen, past her axe. ]

You— [ Familiar. She's fought this before. Looking back up, she searches its beady red eyes. ] The rooftop. [ Searching its eyes finds her no answers, so rather than take the damage of pulling the spikes out, she ... takes a swing to try and dismember it (atk 30, dmg 24). The arm comes off, allowing her to stagger back five feet with it ... impaled through her. ] You look pretty free to me already!

[Myri's over here trying to figure out why Spike and Gar look like they've seen the most terrifying thing ever. Sure, all of this is pretty scary, but they deal with this kind of stuff literally every day. Thanks to a semi successful knowledge check, she realizing that the persistent whistling sound from the creature must be to blame. So she turns back to the others and yells:]

It's got Spike and Gar under some sort of magic. It's the whistling!

Fucking Fuck! Archer is not amused by his shotgun right now. He attempts the same shit he did last round. This time with an 18 and a 25 though. Hopefully those hit? for 10 and 25 (Penetration) respectively]

[The shock of the impact makes Des make an unpleasant hrk noise as he grits his teeth against the pain. Rather than yank himself free immediately, Des raises his gun again and fires another shot. (atk 24, dmg 46. FUCKING TRIPLE PENETRATION)] Tell me how that works out for you after this. [He coughs, because... there is still a thing embedded in his gut. He'd yank free of it, but he's a little busy SHOOTING IT IN THE FACE. Give him a minute. Geez.]

[ well, uh. the whistling stops. because it's super dead, between having its arm torn off, getting a shotgun blast to the chest, and then having des blow its brains out the side of its head. instead of slumping to the ground however, its entire body seems to evaporate in a black cloud of smoke, leaving the smell of sulfur lingering behind. ] Are you two okay? [ mark takes a step forward, looking between them, and staring nervously at the arm still stuck through buffy's midsection ow ]

[Spike blinks and shakes his head, clearing the last of the terrifying whistle from his head.]

I...

[He looks over at Buffy and Des, and finally free of being frozen in terror, runs over to them.]

Bloody hell. Wasn't one near-death experience enough for you?

Hey! A little sympathy here? It's not like I was all "hey, Mr. Demon-Face, I haven't been impaled enough tonight: do the honors"!

[ She gestures widely with her axe as she says it, then drops it to her side and sighs. ]

Look, will you just — [ She twists slightly, grimacing at the unpleasant shifting within her that it causes, then tugs at the back side of the blade. ] Stab it through the rest of the way it and get it out.

[See this is why you don't cut the thing's arm off. It just slid out of Des's gut like... wow there is still no way to make anything in this thread not sound so sexual. His hand goes to his wound and he winces, but it's not that bad.]

I'm ready to get the hell where we're going. If there's anything else down here that ain't Thomas, they're gonna have to wait 'til Andres is a free country again.

[He spits blood on the floor to punctuate that. So classy.]

Uh... right. [He grimaces.] This'll hurt.

[Not that she couldn't have guessed that, or like it's probably particularly comfy now. Anyway, gonna shove the spike the rest of the way through now (str 19). At least they have a cleric and Vi's magic flowers....]

[ With a grunt and 11 damage, Buffy reaches out to grip Spike's shoulder as the arm comes out of her. Her eyes widen because wow that was bracing, but she stays steady on her feet. ]

Thanks. [ Reaching up, she wipes blood from her mouth. Because she is dainty, unlike Des. ] I hate to admit it, but Des is right. We don't have time to waste on things like this and ... whatever that ghost was. We need to safe our strength for Sarandis.

[Des sympathy winces and moves out of the cell. Luckily, his wound isn't too severe (with that whole ten hp he lost...), so he figures he's okay aside from the... pain of getting stabbed.]

I do love being right. [He leans against the wall, figuring Myri will want another heal-up with what few spells she has before they go.]

[wis 20 total because finnick is smart sometimes when it comes to ... solving weird hunger games-esque mysteries.] Maybe its whistling was meant to demoralize any surrounding prisoners, the way it did Spike and Gar.

[ She stares down at where it had been crouched, eyes dark. Turning, she departs the cell because they really should get this show on the road, but they're totally okay to talk about the demon thing on the way. ]

Something's not adding up, though. It's not just the stabbing thing—although, hey, stabbing. That thing fought exactly like the robot from the rooftop. It doesn't make any sense.

[rationalizes]

[ gar approaches a bit sheepishly, but hears buffy's comment and adds: ] Or perhaps ... it was the robot that fought exactly like it.

One of Sarandis' science experiments?

[ That ... does add up, actually. Although he'd have to have a REALLY good study team to simulate it that closely, damn. ]

I doubt his-- his technology could control such a creature. Which may be why it was locked up here instead, where he might take... inspiration from it.

[Des smacks his head against the wall lightly, closing his eyes.] That doesn't even touch how he got it in the first place.

Friends in low places. I wouldn't put it past the Mind Master to be able to take that thing down for the count so he could stick it in his collection.

[Des's jaw twitches a bit as he starts to reload his gun.] Yeah, I thought so too.

[He glances up.] Let's get back on the road, gang, before the next surprise finds us.

We're here to find Thomas, and then wait for the other team to send Dimitris and Kat right to us. I don't think we should beat ourselves up for actually taking the time to investigate what we find down here.

[Des totally forgot about the mission objective though. It happened somewhere between Spike getting EATEN and Buffy almost dying, and the penetration demon, so can you really blame him??]
