[ It seems that Wynn was hoping for Sir Mark Sandazhard to reveal his true identity, and to lead the charge against Dimitris Sarandis' tyrannical hold over the island he was born to rule. He was not disappointed, and Prince Marcus Andres stands poised to lead the group of Knights who he's worked beside for two years, to confront Sarandis, save their friend Kat, and search the castle dungeon for the captive Dragon's Claw, Sir Thomas Bancroft.

Before they attempt to answer the castle, however, it's time to reunite the Prince with his childhood friends on the Isle, who had long held out hope that he was still alive, including his once-betrothed, Countess Lara Tamon. Their first task will be to convince Lara to make a risky attempt to draw Kat out of the castle.

The fate of their captured allies, and the future of Andres Isle, lie in their hands. ]

[ fred jr breaks to the left side of the giant bug, so that it's surrounded on three sides, power attacking into its side... a little too hard. the slow swing means that it can move away just in time (atk 22), at which point the thing opens its hideous jaws, and a humongous spray of green acidic chemicals spray out of its mouth in a cone shape that catches wynn, arthur, fiona, faith, and alcide. the scalding liquid burns away at those it coats, causing 23 damage. it's possible to make a reflex save of 20+ to take 11 damage instead - and also avoid the other unpleasant side effect of being blinded from acid in the eyes. the chemicals vaporize as they hit the ground, forming a thick, noxious cloud forty feet in front of the thing, with a twenty foot radius. anyone fighting in that section must make a dc 20 fortitude save or be nauseated for 4 rounds after leaving the cloud.

wynn makes his reflex save easily (ref 34) and his fort save (fort 32), taking minimal damage. faith doesn't do as well (ref 11), but is at least outside of the cloud with fiona, and doesn't need to save vs nausea. ]

If you're badly burned, get back here! [ jack calls out from behind the monstrosity, promising healing to those who retreat in his direction, even as he continues his assault, all of which lands, save two blows (atk 27/23/33/25/19: total damage 40) ]

[ whether arthur makes the save or not, wynn reaches out through the noxious cloud to clap him on the shoulder, defensively casting stoneskin on him with a grim, determined look. it will effectively eat the first 10 damage he takes on every hit, until he's taken 150 dmg that way. #boyfriends ]

[Well thanks for the fucking acid shower. Fortunately, Alcide's saves get a nice little boost while he's in wolf form so he's just romping around like a baws before tearing off after beetlejuice-sama, leaving his clothes in the dust (reflex 30, fortitude 25). Brb clamping dem jaws down onto one of this thing's legs and attempting to shake that shit like a rag doll (attack 24, damage 11). I don't think he could even try to trip it if he wanted to tho.]

[ arthur only barely gets out of the way (reflex 20) and manages to rally and continue fighting the hideous creature despite the poisonous fumes (fort 25). ]

[ despite the shiver of magic upon his flesh, arthur casts an appreciative glance at wynn that he hopes conveys his thanks (#boyfriends). and as he isn't really the sort to voluntarily retreat, he continues to stay in blast range, and hack at the creature. this time he strikes up, at the area best called the chin, even though it's a... bug. below the mouth, anyway. perhaps if he can puncture wherever that acid's coming from it will be forced to choke on it's own poison. or at least — stop spraying like an angry cat. ]

[ the point is, he lunges his sword at the creature's face (atk nat 20, dmg 9). ]

[ alcide's bite actually weakens the leg entirely, and the monster slumps as it gives out. arthur's nat 20 rams up into the jaws of the monster -- and it lets out a horrible death shriek, before its body bloats wildly, skin stretching taut as if it were filling with air...

and then it explodes.

acid rains down on all those engaged in melee with the creature (16 acid dmg) a reflex save of 20 can cut that down to 8, and arthur takes 10 less than whichever one affects him. wynn easily ducks aside, throwing an arm over his head and taking the minimal damage, but jack is not so lucky, not seeing the killing blow coming from his place on the other side of it. fred jr. just barely throws himself aside (ref 20) in time to avoid the worst of the burst.

[ fiona has acid resistance 30, but that doesn't negate the nasty side effects from the beasts spray. however, she easily dodges the majority of the acid spray (reflex 25), avoiding being blinded, and the nauseating cloud seems to have little to no effect on her, either (fort 26). although it does smell horrible.

she watches the creature fall, cringing and plugging her nose. ] Gods, that thing reeks!

[ faith lets out a distressed noise as she wipes acid out of her eyes, at which point, a horrified realization sinks in. ] I ... I can't see!

[ confused at first, fiona quickly redirects her attention to faith, her hand falling from her face at the sight (ha ha) of her friend covered in the green chemicals.

she runs over, but she's not really sure what exactly she should do, except try to wipe the acid off, as well, given how it doesn't seem to burn her skin as it does the others. however, she avoids faith's face and eyes, afraid of doing more damage. ]

Hey, hey, it's okay, we'll get a cleric. [ and calling over to the others: ] Hey! I think we need a cleric!

[ wynn glances back that way, but his gaze travels towards some movement to the east - where a veritable herd of half-drow half-spider monstrosities are skittering swiftly past, taking advantage of the confrontation they faced with the bug creature. ] Call Solace. Quickly.

[ the entire ground shakes beneath their feet, and though wynn stays disturbingly stable (nat 20 balance check), fred jr. has to grab a tree to keep from keeling over. the air seems to grow warmer, as two hulking figures burst out to the right and left of them, about sixty feet away. puffs of acrid smoke leak from their maws, smoke rising in their wake. each stands no less than 18 feet tall, their rocky bodies flecked with brassy deposits. flames flicker in their eyes and gaping mouth, and jack pales, recognition in his eyes as he looks at the things. ]

They're too powerful together! We need back-up, and more are getting through. [ jack moves to rejoin the others, as they move out of the stinking cloud, staring down the familiar monsters that captured he and thomas. ]

[ wynn sends off two quick messages, and then points his sword at the ember guards. ] Aid is coming. We need only hold the line until they arrive. Stay strong, Knights! Give no quarter! [ and with a charisma check of 26, he'll grant everyone of you a +4 morale bonus to all saving throws, attack rolls, rolls, for the next 7 rounds. ]

[ fiona wipes her hands on her pants before pulling her phone from her pocket. she quickly messages solace for assistance, giving him their location, and explaining the situation as best she can via text. ]

[ arthur was right in the path of the acid, and his triumph at the monster's death is short-lived as it splashes him. (reflex 12). thankfully wynn's spell takes the worst of it, and after a sharp, startled cry arthur grits his teeth and swipes a hand across his face before the gruesome ichor can drip from his fringe into his eyes. then he sets about wiping his sword clean, its rag destroyed by the acid. he tosses it aside. ]

[ and there's no time for much more cleanup than that as the next bout of monsters make themselves known. lacking any experience with these guard of rock and flame, and bolstered by wynn's speech, Arthur readies himself for more combat with a steely gaze. ]

No quarter!

[ he echoes in a ringing shout, lifting his sword. ]

[Alcide is an acid dodging machine I guess because he also manages to avoid the worst of it when the creature basically liquefies all over the place (reflex nat 20).

And four legs come in handy when the ground starts quaking because his balance of 19 wasn't half bad either. But he's just ... a big fucking wolf so he won't be doing much more than growling menacingly at the two new arrivals.

[ with a balance check of 23, fiona holds her ground, turning her attention from faith to the approaching army of death :| she's not going to leave faith's side while she's blind until she's sure she can hold her own, but while everyone's still close by she's gonna cast haste on all of htem. ]

I can... feel its mind. [ faith looks a little disturbed by the fact, but it's clear that it at least tells her where the fuck the things are at. she focuses on the first one, to the left, and tries to psychically crush it, but its will save is massive (30). she does, however, boost the spell to add more damage dice to the mental attack (32 dmg) ]

[ jack sure missed you fellas. he goes for the one on the left as well, and charges it with his +1 from fiona and +4 from wynn, smiting it (atk 38, dmg 21), all of which seems to be effective, backed with the holy power of the blow. ]

The hell are we supposed to do against these things?! [ fred asks the important questions. the guard that they were assaulting on the left slams two rock-like fists into jack (atk 40 and atk 25; 31 total regular dmg plus 6 fire damage). fred uses his hasted speed to get to the thing as well, and usually clangs his sword against it (atk 26+4+1=31) ... which doesn't work, because it's not flat-footed anymore a bloo bloo.

the other creature lumbers forward 30 feet, and opens its maw, expelling a cone of fire that catches faith and fiona: ref 24+ to halve 21 dmg and avoid being slowed - which in this case, would just cancel out their haste spell. faith doesn't have much hope to avoid it, what with BEING BLIND AND ALL, cry. ]

[ I wrote this super serious tag and then forgot to roll for balance. ARTHUR DOESN'T FALL OVER. I know everyone was on the edge of their seats for that one. ]

[ in more current news, arthur is apparently the only one with no trepidation about the impossibly huge creatures, because he probably has a death wish. ]

Just keep them occupied!

[ he tells fred jr. but despite his exuberance and the haste he makes to attack the nearest creature, he still isn't quite up to the task — he's likely to blame the circumstances rather than his sword arm, but that swing doesn't cut it. (atk 14) or cut anything, probably. (dmg 7 just in case #optimism). maybe he's planning on occupying them by being repeatedly brutalized, who knows. ]

[While erryone focuses on lefty-chan, Alcide decides to head for righty-kun to (hopefully) keep it distracted enough that it doesn't roll up and start smashing bitches into the ground while they're focused on its counterpart. He will just be over here barking up a storm to make himself seem like a better target, and attempt to bite it if he can get close enough (attack 25[+4+1]=30, damage 13[+4]=17), but that bitch is too big to even attempt to trip ok.]

[ arthur and alcide both find themselves stymied by the tough rock that makes up the creature's 'skin'. wynn raises his hand as if to cast a spell, but stops himself when alcide approaches the second ember guard, clearly not wanting whatever he intended to do to catch the werewolf by mistake. instead, he joins alcide, using his extra hasted speed to flank the creature, to lower its defense by 2 for them. with all the bonuses, his attack is a 50, which strikes a crack in the thing's side, for 23 damage. ]

[ with a reflex save of 27 and evasion, fiona manages to dodge the attack completely, rolling back behind faith before realizing her friend doesn't have the wherewithal to avoid any of the fire blasted their way.

she watches in horror as the flames scorch her allies, and with renewed determination strides forward again, placing herself between the large creatures and faith. there's a visible spark of anger behind her eyes as she raises her arms, silently conjuring a tangible cloud of magical energy around her. the dazzling, crackling fog rapidly envelops her entire form, completely obscuring the transformation transpiring within. the result, however, is difficult to miss, as a gust of strong, inexplicable wind rushes over the area, dispelling the cloud as quickly as it had appeared. in it's place now hovers a ten foot tall djinni, still quite recognizable as fiona, although much more intimidating in size and demeanor.

she appears to be composed of mere air, though somehow not transparent, and the bands around her wrists glow bright, pulsating as ripples of magical energy surge through and around her. she raises her head, eyes opening to reveal vivid purple irises firmly focused on the enemy before them, and alight with unmitigated rage. ]

[...this is so far out of Jaime's element he doesn't even know where to start. The glowing purple girl, the gigantic horrible monsters... all while he's still trying not to process the whole Lan's a werewolf bit.

He knew about magic. He'd gotten used to that long before. But this is insanity.

There's only one response he knows, though, and that's to rush headlong into danger. He's just pretty sure that a more intelligent man would turn craven and run right about now.

Instead he lowers his sword and charges towards the creature on the right (took 2 action points to get there but atk 27, dmg 26) with his sexy good aligned blade.]

[ faith's clothes are scorched, her skin burnt, as she watches her friend turn into her djinn form with wide eyes. it's one thing to know it, but another thing to see it. however, the sight seems to simply give her heart despite her extensive injuries. while jaime's sword hits with massive resistance from the rocky creature he attacks, she makes another crushing psychic attack at the one on the left, funneling tons of power points into it, drawing on a significant amount of her psionic reserve (27 power points) with a wordless roar. it makes its will save, but still takes 60 damage from the debilitating attack, which seems to substantially weaken it. ]
