[ Having spent months scrying on areas of the Island scouted out by Sir Bancroft and Sir Chessing, Hasmed is able to send a few groups to the Island via greater teleport spells, with a fairly small margin for error, as to where they're going to land. The Shadowkind prison teams land flawlessly, and the very big group appears in a clearing in the middle of the woods, abruptly finding themselves surrounded by trees and mostly darkness. The moon is in its last quarter, and with the trees so thick above them, there are only patches of light that filter down here and there. Those with darkvision or lowlight vision can see perfectly, but anyone with normal vision may find themselves squinting to see much of anything.

The teleport spell only works if the entire group is physically connected, so when they arrive, Wolverine yanks his hand off Nathan's shoulder, and gives Drax a Look like stop touching me if you value your hand. Eric runs his Drakenet app to determine their location, then announces: "Dead on." In other words, no spell mishap sending them miles off target. Beside them all, Lan's mount, Daisy, stamps her feet slightly, obviously unnerved by the magic. He whispers "Whoa, there" and reins her in, causing her to settle. ]

[with a wis 16.... nathan finally recognizes rocket's ptsd apparently. and doesn't ask him if he needs to shit again.] Jesus christ, I'd hate to be one of those bastards.

[ as they slowly start to tentatively emerge, logan pushes his way back towards the others. there's a wide variety of ages and races represented, but all of them have some kind of haunted look in their eyes. rocket would notice the bat moreau eebo still hunched in the back of his cell, rocking back and forth, peering out distrustfully.

as logan makes it back to nathan's side, he would see at the far end of the hall, four soldiers suddenly emerge. one of them grabs a prisoner coming out of a cell, and pulls their gun up to their neck, shouting: "NOBODY MOVE!" ]

[Eebo's cell is the one Rocket's hunting for and he's in the process of trying to coax him out as... gently as he possibly can, which really isn't all that gentle, but definitely involves fewer insults than normal. He whips around, his grip on his gun tightening, but he keeps it lowered. Even still, he's snarling. This is Not Good.]

We mowed down all your buddies outside, jackass. Do you really think you're gonna have better luck?

[ logan turns around, claws extending, but stays where's he at, next to nathan, glaring at the soldiers.

the one holding the prisoner snarls right back at rocket. "Maybe not. But you really wanna risk that and lose Lord knows how many of these people in the process?" ]

[Rocket's ears flatten all the way down to his skull, because he is an animal and this is what animals do when they're upset and frightened and he is not exactly in a fit state to tell those instincts to go sit in a corner. That low growling noise doesn't exactly do anything to help it.]

Yeah, and how many people are gonna walk out if we just give in? You ain't gonna let anyone walk.

[ "Maybe nobody's gonna walk - but nobody has to die, either."

logan snorts, disgust curling his lip as he raises his claws. ] That supposed to be better?

[Rocket tenses, but he got all of his little moments of weakness out with the scientists. These are the people he doesn't want to see him crack. Like hell if they need to know how badly being stuck back in here would mess with him.

Also man, where the hell is Quill. Lessening the tension is his job.]

So basically gruesome torture or death. Hell, sounds like no contest to me.

[what if nathan .... slides so that he is somewhat obscured behind wolverine. HE NEEDS A SHIELD OK.]

[ as all this is going on, a single little figure slinks out of the cell at the far end, no more than a tiny blur between everyone's legs. it slips easily next to the soldier who isn't bothering to look down... and bites down hard on its ankle. he lets out a curse, his grip slackening for a moment - annnnd we're gonna roll for init ]

[WHELP. That's all Rocket needs. He takes aim at the guard who's been talking and fires off a burst fire round at him. (atk 25 - 4 for burst fire = atk 21, so 25 dmg if that hits. penetration~]

[Yeah guard guy probably shouldn't have spent all that time talking because it means he's #1 on everyone's to-kill list. Drax lets out a roar of rage and violence and runs at him, slamming his fist at the guard's stupid face (atk 23, dmg 10).]

[ both of them hit the guard, buuuut he's still so very up. he gives up on trying to worry about the prisoner b/c drax is there and huge and awful so he yells: ] Take 'em down! [ steps back five feet and unloads bullets into drax's face, or tries to (atk 21; atk 12; 8 dmg from the one that hits).

the other three guards yank up their own weapons and start filling the hall with bullets as well. one of them also focuses on drax (atk nat 20; atk 18: 12 dmg for the crit), another at rocket (crit fail as he accidentally hits one of the prisoners milling about between them ;; his second shot going wild), and the third at logan (ANOTHER CRIT FAIL as that guy's gun jams) ]

[Well, no one shot at her, so she'll just move toward the one that had his gun jam. atk 31, dmg 20 total (if it hits)]

[ wolverine charges in beside faith, raking his claws at the third guard, even as faith's fist connects with the one's face, his gun clattering to the ground as he drops it. blood sprays out as logan rips across the guard's chest (atk 38; dmg 30) ]

[nathan decides ... not to blow up the prisoners, inflict tear gas on everyone, or unleash another smoke bomb. HE MOVES TO PICK UP THE GUN THAT FELL ON THE FLOOR. since he didn't pack one himself. why would he ever.]

[It's not very often that Rocket finds a situation that guns can't fix, but given the small area, the amount of civilians, and the fact that he can't unleash A RAIN OF BULLETS without probably hitting everyone and pummeling one person with bullets isn't efficient and a waste of his bullets, so he drops the gun and hauls ass towards that main guard. (atk 24, dmg a whopping 8, but he hurled himself at the guy's legs, so you know. Maybe he'll fall over or something. If not, he's gonna get a raccoon to the face next round.]

[GRARGH PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH. Drax is just gonna punch the ever loving shit out of this guy (atk 25 dmg 10, atk 21 dmg 10, atk 20 dmg 8).]

[ nathan gets a gun butt to the head (atk 26; dmg 5) but motherfucker's still up tho, even between drax and rocket both smacking away at him. he does stumble backwards a bit, trying to shoot rocket this time (atk 15), unable to aim well with everyone up on his grill. guard two tries to smack faith (atk 22; 4 dmg if it hits annnd then a miss), while three moves back to shoot at logan, but his shots do a lot of nothing. the fourth guard keeps unloading on drax (atk 14 & atk 23; 5 dmg for the second one) ]

[Faith takes the hit and it stings a bit, but doesn't do much to phase her. She'll just strike at him again! (attack NAT 20 + 14, dmg 38!!!) boom.]

[ faith's fist cracks into his face, but he manages to make his fort save vs massive damage, still on his face, but staggering.

logan strikes with both claws (atk 23 and atk 31; dmg 37), cutting his guard up a bit more ]

[the good news is nathan got a gun. the bad news is he has no idea what he's doing (i.e. doesn't have personal firearms proficiency) and he's gunning after a guard currently in melee (logan's guard bc that's his daddy ok), so with all those penalties his atk ends up being a whopping 11. go fuckin team.]

[Wow this asshole JUST WILL NOT DIE. Rocket's just gonna climb up the guy and launch an ALL OR NOTHING attack. First he's gonna BITE THE EVERLOVING SHIT OUT OF HIS GUN ARM. No really. (atk nat 20, dmg 16) Apparently, it's fair to bite when you're extremely pissed off. For his next attack, he swings out his leg to clock the guy in the jaw (atk 20 total, dmg 8, if that hits).

Thanks to this being an "all or nothing" attack, Rocket misses his next turn and also gets a -4 to his defense for the next round, bringing it to a 22. WORTH IT IF THE GUY FALLS OVER. Less worth it if he's still up.]

[Drax spares a moment to give Rocket a proud look for all that barehanded (barepawed?) murder then turns towards the next closest guard, letting loose with all of his fists. A little too loose. Seriously, Drax, did your eyes get all misty over Rocket's success and you forgot how to punch? (atk 16, atk 14, atk 11).]

[ faith's guard isn't looking too hot, and he's unarmed still, but he keeps trying to smack her and... crit fails ahahaa. he's so staggered by her last major blow that he trips and dives face first into the open prison door next to him, losing his next turn.

logan's guard keeps backing away, firing at logan as he howls in rage, but shooting logan is about as fruitless as always, as he keeps healing over the damage slowly, even when they do any damage at all.

drax's guard avoids his punches and tries to clobber him with the gun (atk 28; 4 dmg) ]
