[ Having spent months scrying on areas of the Island scouted out by Sir Bancroft and Sir Chessing, Hasmed is able to send a few groups to the Island via greater teleport spells, with a fairly small margin for error, as to where they're going to land. The Shadowkind prison teams land flawlessly, and the very big group appears in a clearing in the middle of the woods, abruptly finding themselves surrounded by trees and mostly darkness. The moon is in its last quarter, and with the trees so thick above them, there are only patches of light that filter down here and there. Those with darkvision or lowlight vision can see perfectly, but anyone with normal vision may find themselves squinting to see much of anything.

The teleport spell only works if the entire group is physically connected, so when they arrive, Wolverine yanks his hand off Nathan's shoulder, and gives Drax a Look like stop touching me if you value your hand. Eric runs his Drakenet app to determine their location, then announces: "Dead on." In other words, no spell mishap sending them miles off target. Beside them all, Lan's mount, Daisy, stamps her feet slightly, obviously unnerved by the magic. He whispers "Whoa, there" and reins her in, causing her to settle. ]

[ it's not hard to follow the ooze trail. and what they find is not a pleasant sight whatsoever.

A quivering pile of tumorous flesh pulls itself along the ground, about seven feet across and appearing to weigh over a ton. as they catch up to it, it stops with a squishing noise and its impossible to tell whether it sees them or not - it has no discernible face.

It is, however, joined by a second one, that comes out from the trees in the opposite direction. Le fuck.

eric draws his weapon and shoots at the first one (atk 16, dmg 11). it's hard to miss the massive fleshy creature, and his bullet hits it with a sickening squelch. ]

[This is probably going to be a terrible idea, but Dimitri is an in your face fighter first and foremost, and so he moves in toward the horrific creature, stake slashing out across it's surface, hoping to potentially expose some kind of organs or weapon points, because it sure is hard to tell what is what (atk 18, dmg 11).]

[ the bullet and dimitri's blade have a bizarre effect on the monster, indeed. it starts to seal up over the damage caused, and seems to be swelling up, its innards straining against the membrane that makes up its skin. it tries to slam into dimitri, but is incredibly slow and cumbersome (atk 11) ]

[Mellie (who was absolutely there this whole time, following Cora around like a very large puppy) is totally ready to charge in there and start tearing things to pieces, but Cora takes one look at the fact that thing seems to be growing and she's quick to throw out a hand in front of her (wisdom 17).]

Wait.

[Because sometimes the bear needs an actually verbal command. She's going to actually take them both a 30 foot move backwards and look around to see if there's something she can use from a distance, like a tree limb or something, because she doesn't like guns so naturally she doesn't have one (spot 22).]

[ there actually are numerous fallen, broken limbs of various sizes. she can grab one that would effectively be a reach weapon, that allowed her to stay 10 feet away and prod it - but it would only do 1d4+her str mod for damage.

the second blob starts oozing towards eric, but is... really slow and won't get there yet. so he shoots at it (atk 30, dmg 14)... and then crit fails, taking a step backwards as it advances and slipping on a slime trail, falling on his ass. luckily his fort save is a 28, so he doesn't start busting out tumors for y'all to see. yet. ]

[Ew gross.

Dimitri tries to maneuver around the areas where the skin is stretching, in case it decides to...explode or something, and slashes at it again with his stake (atk 24, dmg 9).]

[ again, the reaction is very strange, that straining continuing across its body, as it sluggishly fails to hit him again (atk 15) ]

[Well, it's better than actually touching the thing. She grabs one of the more sturdy branches, moves back towards the flesh blob again, before jabbing the jagged end of the branch into it (attack 11, damage 4 if it hits). The attack is awkward and sloppy but she doesn't want to be all tumorified.]

[ it still hits. like i said, these fuckers are hard to miss. congrats eric, while you're laying there prone, this guy's gonna slither up to you and smother you with his horrible body (atk 13). luckily, even prone, eric's fast enough to roll aside and avoid the attack. his gun still in hand, he fires up at it (atk 25/15; dmg 10+7). ] Dammit!

[Yeah, this is going to probably end terribly but he....sure doesn't have any better ideas (wis 6 l o l).

So he'll stab the thing with his stake again, with more force this time, and hope that enough damage will kill the thing (power atk 21, dmg 19 with penetration).]

[ dimitri buries the stake up to the hilt in its side, and while it looks like it's still swelling for a moment, it abruptly quivers violently, and then sort of deflates. yeahhh boy. ]

[Cora watches it deflate and ... okay. Maybe they can get out of this without it exploding all over them. She turns a bit, before moving to try and stab the other blob, knowing she won't have quite the same effect but hopefully it doesn't backfire on her either.

... And she does really well, apparently. (attack nat 20, damage 10).]

[ streeeetch, as she pierces it with the jagged end of the branch. it gives an angry slam at eric, striking him this time (7 dmg) ... and it grabs him, winding around his body with its horrible mass. he spends his time crawling out from it with a successful escape artist check :( dripping horrible slimy goo ]

[With one of the creatures deflating before his eyes, Dimitri rips his stake out before moves to the engage the other, hoping to help bring it down just as quickly (atk 16, dmg 9)]

[Cora tries to stab at the thing again, concern written all over her face for Eric because that can't be good at all, but right now they need to just worry about killing the thing first (attack 19, penetration damage 8).

Unfortunately, however, Mellie has no such restraint. She's tired of sitting out of the fight, Cora's orders or not, and she just charges at the thing, slashing at it before Cora can stop her (attack 27, damage 12).]

[ as they all attack it, the flesh starts to swell and grow, and the monster seems to start doubling in size-- but mellie's attack downs it before it can act, and it too, collapses to the ground.

eric starts to pull himself to his feet, groaning. ] That's just--

[ his groan is overpowered by another noise erupting from the nearby bushes: a hideous, piteous moaning noise full of gurgles that are nauseating. everyone must make a fort save dc 15 or become sickened. ]

[Dimitri's fort save was an almighty 11 (even with a +8 gj) so he basically turns green oh god everything is terrible.]

[Cora (fort save 25) and Mellie (fort save 21) are fine, and Cora's head whips towards the sound, not at all deterred and wondering what is going to come at them now.]

What the hell is that?

[And she's actually going to shift too, because she feels better with her claws.]

[ eric's fine too, if you can call someone covered in slime fine. what comes wallowing through the bushes, however, is not fine at all.

pale and glistening with moisture, the sluglike creature stares vacantly ahead, as the droning moan continues to escape its slobbering lips. it sports a vaguely human head and torso, and rubbery arms that move awkwardly at its side.

it's init is a 20 so slides it in after eric, who immediately fires on the fucker. (atk 26, atk 10; 8 dmg from the one successful hit)

it keeps advancing towards mellie and cora, and actually opens its mouth and disgorges disgestive fluids on the girl for 13 acid dmg, reflex 15 for half. it's as disgusting as it sounds. ]

[Wow fuck you now I'm sickened that is horrible.

I guess Dimitri will...advance on the creature while throwing up in his mouth (more than a little) and try and shove his stake into the creature's chest and probably misses horribly (atk 11).]

[OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK.

Cora thankfully is able to dodge some of it (reflex save 19), but it's still SUPER GROSS, and she is just going to come at the thing with both claws because FUCK YOU YOU WERE JUST DISGUSTING ALL OVER HER (attack 22, damage 7, attack 16, penetration damage 16 if it hits).

Mellie is also not pleased with this turn of events and is going to do some clawing of her own (attack 29, damage 11, attack crit fail action point says 32, damage 12).]

[ holy shit you two. 46 damage in one round is enough to SHRED IT TO BE PIECES. which is unfortunate, in a way, because it also ruptures its digestive organs, and the monster swells - and then bursts in an explosion of bloody viscera that hits all of them in the clearing. it deals no damage - but is utterly disgusting to behold, and leaves them covered in the shit. fort save dc 14 to negate being nauseated for 4 rounds.

[SHE WAS REALLY MAD, OKAY? As she should be, she was puked on.

She's also not pleased with the fact that she was covered in all kinds of gross but otherwise okay (fort save 20 total). So she just mostly looks really annoyed as she tries to ... shake the disgusting off her arms and make a generally unpleased face at the situation.

The bear, however, is not so lucky (fort save 12). She's making a lot of really unpleased noises and may troddle off to eat some grass or something. Grass that is not covered by slime. Whatever bears do when they have an upset stomach.

Cora glances after the bear and decides it's best to let her do her thing, before glancing over to Eric.]
