[ The two groups tasked to deal with the denizens of the Shadow Village arrive on the bank of the river that bisects the capitol city of Andres in half.  The river slopes down from the woods and city around it, meaning that they're afforded a bit of concealment here, unless anyone stood at the top and looked down.  At this hour of the night, however, there's no one around.   Dovan grumbles a bit about 'blasted magic' as they shake off the disorienting sense of vertigo, while Koraith waits for Belle to confirm they've arrived in the right place.  She pats Gold on the arm as she pulls out her phone, and moments later, she nods to the others in confirmation.

The water laps gently nearby against the rocks, and in the distance, a bridge is visible that links the segregated Shadow village with its thatched roof houses, to the city proper, which seems lined with wealthy manor homes.  ]

[Miles is just going to hold/skip his action because he's still...injured as fuck. He sure hears all that going on above them, though (listen 18).]

Sounds like maybe back-up is already here.

[ jaina's eyes darken as she hears the call for a retreat ] If they run now, they'll only come back in force. [ jaina hisses as she pulls herself away from the tree, testing her limbs to make sure she's feeling good enough to do this - and then turning all business, steeling herself against the urge to stay and hover, as she glances at penelope. ] I'm leaving him in good hands. [ with that, she turns and dashes back out to the bridge. she stops dead in her tracks, staring at lavender with her gun down at her side, feet planted firmly apart, anger burning in her eyes. as lavender turns towards her, fully ready to run for it, jaina raises one hand, palm up (force strike 25), and lavender fails their save hilariously (ref 3 vs... 20), and goes slamming back into the tank (7 dmg).

"What the--?!"

cerulean goes running through the space between tanks, taking the order to heart to retreat, making it to yellow's side. ]

[instinct]

[ derek is basically going to continue to punch purple until she leaves or passes out or belle interferes. he barely acknowledges the order to retreat (one that he hasn't realized has come from his own side) and instead hits his foe again (atk 21 dmg 6). ]

[ dovan's going to take a flying leap off the tank at orange, hello. ahahaha nat 20 for a... 49.

lavender and mint both fucking run for it, moving south off the bridge. mint has to clamber off the tank to do it but they are both keeping their guns up as they go. ]

[ davin finishes draining the life out of green, and drops him, his lifeless body slumping against the tank. he glances around, and then starts moving between the tanks after cerulean. ]

[Oh no they don't!! Once Riddick finally finishes off black, he notices mint and lavender booking it for the other side of the bridge. Rather than trying to run them down because haha why do that when there are machine guns?? he instead attempts to climb the side of the tank he is practically already standing on (climb:20 total). Once up there he takes aim at mint and lavendar, spraying a hail of bullets in their direction (atk:23 dmg 10+9+12(penetration)+12(penetration)+2 = 45 dmg total.) Take that for trying to run away.]

[ it's actually reflex save based but ahahahah they both failed like what. ow.

THAT GUNS BOTH OF THEM DOWN. WOW RIDDICK.

also somehow i totally forgot to even do purple's turn last time, so... he's doing a full retreat as well, booking it to the left side of the bridge, to try to get around the tree over there. belle keeps her weapon on him, but doesn't fire :( ]

[ penelope doesn't spare a glance in jaina's direction as she takes off. all this is pretty normal fare for a battle cleric: heal 'em up and send 'em back in.

instead, she moves over to miles, kneeling next to him and placing her free hand against his most injured part, her other hand still holding her shield to grant them some cover from anyone making their way toward them from the bridge.

a soft, white light grows from her palm as she mutters an almost silent word of comfort, and then expands to cover each of miles' wounds, simultaneously (cure light wounds for 20 hp). the wounds begin to knit themselves together within moments, the pain also retreating, and the remaining bloodstains on his clothing serve as the only reminder of his earlier injuries. ]

[Gold is just staring at the carnage like... ykw I tried to be a decent person and this is what happens, but as he can't just make everyone STOP MURDERING EVERYONE and he already put the guards in retreat, he's just gonna stand there with Belle, all dreary sigh.]

[ yellow paces out away from the vampire and the psycho on the tank, firing at jaina and her freaky mind powers (atk 19), but missing as the jedi side steps the shot with ease. ]

[To Penelope before he starts to move again, because he sure feels a hell of a lot better, and Jaina's back out there.

He moves up to where the bridge meets the road, sees where yellow is shooting at her, and says fuck no to that, firing a shot at him (atk 19, dmg 9 if that hits)]

[ purple takes off down the bank of the river to the northwest, while jaina glances over at miles, relieved to see him in one piece, but clearly worried immediately about him being back in the line of fire. miles' shot strikes yellow, but they don't go down, and a frustrated jaina's hand twists abruptly. one hand flies to the soldier's throat at he grapples against some unseen grip (10 dmg). cerulean moves straight back, muttering a litany of curses as he fires at davin (atk 14), the shot bouncing off the tank's bumper. ]

[ belle might not want to take the shot, but derek is bleeding and pissed. he pulls up his excalibur pistol and fires with deadly accuracy at purple's retreating back (atk nat 20, dmg 15). ]

[ the shot strikes purple in the back of the shoulder, blood spraying out - but doesn't down them entirely. dovan heads for cerulean, who finds that the vampire is the least of his worries, as the keen greataxe comes swinging at him (atk 46, dmg 19). ]

[ well FINE DOVAN JUST SNAKE HIS KILL W/E

he'll just go after yellow. from behind. :') he leaps at him, hissing, makes his melee attack and tries to grapple the soldier from behind but loses??????? gasp ]

[ permission from christine to run riddick for the moment, who will leap off the truck behind yellow, and attack him once, barely missing. belle casts gold a worried look, but again, it looks like they've got a handle on this down there, and she's more likely to shoot one of their friends in the back if she fires from here. ]

[ penelope's attention follows miles and jaina as they make their way out onto the bridge, and she sees derek in the distance looking pretty beat up. keeping her shield up, she runs full force across the bridge in his direction, keeping close to the railing on that far side.

she probably just makes it to him by the end of her turn, but she'll heal him on the next. ]

Take them alive, if you're not going to let them run. [For God's sakes. He takes Belle's hand in his free hand and with an agitated eyeroll begins drawing closer. The fighting is mostly over and he doubts anyone is going to shoot them in the state they're currently in.] They might be worth more to us alive. That is, assuming you can curb your bloodlust.

[ yellow backs away from the vampire, raising both hands. ] We surrender!

[Miles still has his gun trained on yellow, and yells an order to him, holding his action.]

Then lay down your weapons!

[ jaina, having slackened her force grip, puts her hand back up and glares at yellow, to drive home the point that if he doesn't comply, she'll finish the job. (intimidate 19) he barely seems to worry about her right now though, because he's serious about dropping his weapons and surrendering. cerulean looks terrified however, and swiftly follows suit.

[Miles starts moving forward, gun still up, so that he can get those weapons away from the surrendering guards before preparing to tie them up. Clearly Jaina can keep them in line while he does that, damn girl.]

Very good. [Yep. Gold's just gonna walk into the club like whaaat. Or, uh, approach the closest one of those guards to him, giving him the most condescending look ever while Miles deals with them.] Will there be more of you coming here?

[flyingsolo]

[ cerulean stammers: "Not more guards. They're-- they're sending in a contingent of clockwork soldiers. They might already be inside - they can leap from tree to tree."

jaina glances at miles, eyes widening the tiniest bit. but then her phone beeps and she yanks it out, eyebrow raising. ] Incoming. [ everyone else gets the same message from wynn at the same time. ]

[Gold checks his phone and makes a face, before turning back to the guard.] Whatever you know about those soldiers, I suggest you tell me.

[And he laces that demand with a bit of suggestion. It makes bile rise in his throat and causes his hand to tighten around his cane, but he doesn't want to leave anything to chance.]
