[ The two groups tasked to deal with the denizens of the Shadow Village arrive on the bank of the river that bisects the capitol city of Andres in half.  The river slopes down from the woods and city around it, meaning that they're afforded a bit of concealment here, unless anyone stood at the top and looked down.  At this hour of the night, however, there's no one around.   Dovan grumbles a bit about 'blasted magic' as they shake off the disorienting sense of vertigo, while Koraith waits for Belle to confirm they've arrived in the right place.  She pats Gold on the arm as she pulls out her phone, and moments later, she nods to the others in confirmation.

The water laps gently nearby against the rocks, and in the distance, a bridge is visible that links the segregated Shadow village with its thatched roof houses, to the city proper, which seems lined with wealthy manor homes.  ]

[ it very nearly hits, if only because the thing is flat-footed. jaina raises her gun and fires between them (atk 7), but is too concerned about hitting the rapidly moving andie after that fiasco. hasmed throws a flaming sphere down at it (7 fire damage), and it crit fails its reflex save and is stunned for the round! which means it does nothing on its turn wooo ]

[That's pretty convenient! Andie tries to stab it again (atk 28, dmg 7 still all sneak attacky thanks to the stunning).]

[ they both hit it, but jaina's shot whizzes past its head. hasmed directs the sphere to roll away and then into the thing again but it recovers with a 23 reflex save, jumping back and takes no further damage. he also attempts to cast chains of vengeance, fiery chains appearing around the soldier, and wrapping around it (failed ref 13), dealing four damage and stunning it for another round. ]

Miles aim his fist into the chest of the soldier, trying to avoid the fiery chains in the process (atk 17, dmg 5?).]

[ jaina finally manages to hit it too since it's denied its dex right now (10 dmg). hasmed rolls the sphere back against it and it takes 8 more fire damage... and then 5 more from the chains... and effectively melts in front of them lmao

welp. ]

[Andie looks ready to attack again when it melts, then lowers her sword. Slowlyish.]

[Miles takes a quick look around to see how things are going elsewhere.

[ shouldn't have thought that, ftr. because moments later, six of the things dart around the corner. ]

Watch out! [ init has been updated, with the 6th nimblewright going first, descending on miles and chopping at him with a rapier-hand (atk 22, dmg 8). ]

[Noooo Miles! Andie dashes forward to flank the nimblewright and chops back at the thing (atk 26, dmg 7).]

[Miles sucks in a pained breath, attempting to deck the flanked nimblewright in the face for that because ouch so much pain (atk 17, dmg 7 if that hits somehow).]

[ the 2nd nimblewright moves to engage jaina, but the blade sails over her head as she ducks (atk 14), and holds up her open palm, delivering a force strike to her attacker ... or trying to. instead, it easily dodges the blow, and she finds herself flanked by the 1st nimblewright (atk 28, dmg 8). ]

[ well gdi. hasmed unleashes an arc of chain lightning from his hand (66 dmg to nw1 but it gets a nat 20 reflex save for half), arching to nw2 which barely makes it save and takes 14 dmg, then to nw3 which saves and takes 10 dmg, then nw4 which saves for 3 dmg, then nw5 saves for 6 dmg, and then nw6 crit fails and takes 3 dmg.

nw5 flanks jaina, but she again, just barely manages to duck the blow (atk 20), while nw3 is temporarily jarred by the lightning so badly that it doesn't move for a round, i guess.

the nimblewright in front of miles stabs at him twice, viciously (atk 17 and 23-crit, dmg 11 and 12). ]

[Noooo Miles! Andie stabs the one she has flanked which I think is the one that attacked Miles (atk 28, dmg 9 whoo penetration + sneak atk)]

[Fucking ow, though thankfully he was smart enough to put on that Silver Dragon armor, so only one of those gets through.

He's still not looking good, though, as he swipes at the one trying to get a piece of him (atk 22, dmg 8).]

[ both of those hit, but you skipped nw4... that's ok, because it'll go right now, attacking andie again (atk 22, dmg 11, annnd a crit fail), one of its blade hand sliding past andie as she moves aside lightning-fast, and stabbing into the side of nw6 behind her (14 dmg to nw6).

nw4 stabs at jaina, but she evades both swipes (atk 23, atk 19), and tries again to force strike the thing. again, it's just too fucking fast, and she's too out of practice to pull such a maneuver in close quarters. the nimblewright behind her manages to land one piercing strike through her, however, and her body arches forward, mouth falling open in protest, as she slumps to her knees (30 crit; dmg 25) ]

[ hasmed grimaces as he watches the battle turn, and unleashes another blast of chain lightning. this time it's enough to burn nw1 up entirely (57 dmg), jumping to nw2 for 17 dmg, nw3 for 16 dmg, nw4 for 6 dmg, nw5 for 2 dmg, and nw6 for 2 dmg.

as the other nimblewrights move to attack, a figure comes around the figure, wielding a massive fucking greataxe, that it takes to nw3 ... or means to. grulk instead accidentally hacks off the head of a goblin who's following him as he takes the swing too wide. (crit fail...) a+

he's followed by other villagers as well, but none of them... are really great at hitting things, apparently wtf. they seem to be doing more harm to themselves than anything over here, probably because grulk hasn't gathered trained fighters so much as brutal and battle-thirsty creatures. they do, however, at least distract the nimblewrights as they swarm around them, and nw5, 3, and 6 break off to move in on the giant half-orc, who seems to register as the largest 'shadowkind threat' to them. andie and miles can both make attacks of opportunity on 6 as he withdraws. ]

[Andie stabs nw6 as it moves away (atk 17 dmg 7 on the off chance that hits) and looks over at Jaina, aghast.]

Jaina, no!

[She zips over to attack the nimblewright that just hurt Jaina so badly but she's pretty shaken about it (atk 15).]

[Miles completely whiffs his aoo (atk 9) but he's...distracted by the fact that Jaina goes down for the second time today.

Hopefully not permanently.

He does a full withdrawal, running to her and trying to get her back inside the building where the medics/clerics are.]

[ hasmed drops a fucking fireball strategically between everyone (dmg 34), taking out 2,4, and 6 entirely, and stunning the others for a round.

the villagers manage to get a few hits in on them this way, at least, but there's still a couple of them up. ]
