[ The two groups tasked to deal with the denizens of the Shadow Village arrive on the bank of the river that bisects the capitol city of Andres in half.  The river slopes down from the woods and city around it, meaning that they're afforded a bit of concealment here, unless anyone stood at the top and looked down.  At this hour of the night, however, there's no one around.   Dovan grumbles a bit about 'blasted magic' as they shake off the disorienting sense of vertigo, while Koraith waits for Belle to confirm they've arrived in the right place.  She pats Gold on the arm as she pulls out her phone, and moments later, she nods to the others in confirmation.

The water laps gently nearby against the rocks, and in the distance, a bridge is visible that links the segregated Shadow village with its thatched roof houses, to the city proper, which seems lined with wealthy manor homes.  ]

[ kali darts in with no preamble and instead of slashing with her knives, slams her tiny fist into its clockwork face. (atk 27, dmg 13) ]

[David takes that hit, and will quickly draw his sword to swing an attack right back, not really going for anything fancy either (attack 19, damage 11 if that hits but I don't think it will).]

[ Henry's dagger is drawn as he moves forward, coming around quickly on the other side and hoping to take the soldier by surprise with an attack (atk 25, dmg 7). ]

[Nels charges the soldier, steel flashing - he strikes with an attack of 23 (Boosted with an Inspiration Point), for 10 damage.]

[ everyone hits, particularly because of flanking it as they are. tia tries to hit the nimblewright with a mental blast, but it resists, stabbing out at kali and david with either arm, missing kali, but stabbing david right in the side (atk 21 @ kali, atk 28 (crit) @ david.) deals 16 dmg to david, and the strike is so powerful that it has a chance to knock him prone (ref 19 to negate) ]

startled by almost being shanked a-fucking-gain, she completely fucking misses the fact that HER FIST IS STUCK in the numblewright from her last punch. so whoopsie daisy, her fist is stuck in some clockwork face. halp. ]

[David takes the hit but manages to stay on his feet (reflex save 21). After Kali gets her fist stuck in the thing's face, however, he does his best to try and get her out by bringing his sword down on the top of the thing's head, trying to split it open so that she can get her hand out (attack 24, damage 5).]

[ Henry's watching carefully, and surging forward to help might be a noble thing, but he doesn't want to make things worse for himself or anyone else by being reckless. So he waits for the right moment, maintaining his position and going in for another blow (attack 21, damage 4). ]

[Time for this clockwork bastard to die... or cease functioning, or whatever. Nels will take a 5-foot step to get into some kind of a flanking position. There's a lot of them fighting this thing, so hopefully that's simple enough.]

[ the machine actually obeys, because they've busted it all up between them, and down it goes. as if to make certain, tia grabs it telekinetically, lifts it up in the air to eye level with her on the roof, and then drops it, so that it crumples into a broken heap. her eyes sweep across the vista, and she frowns as she watches belle and gold near the front. ] They need back up out front! [ they are free to hop over here if they wish after dovan's next turn, and take turns in the same order as here! ]
